So glad I finally made the trip to try out their souffle pancakes. They're a cute tea/dessert shop located at The Source. It's a perfect place to grab dessert, catch up with friends or family or even to read a book! I wouldn't recommend it for studying because it does get pretty loud when it's crowded. You order at the counter, they'll give you a number and you find any available seating. They have plenty of outdoor seating if indoor seating is packed. After you finish eating, you take your dishes/cups to a bin located next to the register so your seat/table is ready for the next person. Overall, I can see why some may feel like it is expensive for what it is, which is why I felt like you get better value when you opt for the savory option. The egg benedicts come with the japanese souffle pancake instead of the typical english muffin. I'll have to try their dessert pancakes and their teas some other day and see if my thoughts change.
|| L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Located on the 1st floor of The Source (strip mall on the corner of Beach Blvd and Orangethorpe Ave. -Next to Old Ferry Donut -There is a parking structure with 5 floors connected to The Source. Even during its peak hours, I've never seen it fully packed.
|| F O O D / D R I N K S || Ube Latte (R: $5.50/L: $6.50) - You can get this iced or hot. I opted for a hot ube latte as I wanted the cute latte art. Do note that I did specifically ask/request for it when I ordered it. I wasn't sure if they had the time to do latte art, but thankfully they were able to do it for me! I liked how it wasn't overly sweet which I find is usually the reason why I stray away from ube lattes. I did find that it wasn't super strong in ube flavor so I wonder if that's why it wasn't super sweet. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it!
Smoked Salmon Benedict ($16.50) - I was in pickle whether I wanted a sweet or savory pancake. At the end, I opted for something savory. I do highly recommend getting the smoked salmon benedict if you're debating between the regular egg benedict and the smoked salmon one. For a little extra, I do think it's worth it. They don't skimp out on the hollandaise sauce, the smoked salmon or the guacamole. I liked how the pancakes made each bite just a tad sweet, something different than the usual english muffin...

Read moreThe food and drink we're honestly very good, but there were little thing that made the experience certainly not as good as it could have been. First, you can tell that they put effort into making the location nice! It is probably the nicest coffee shop I've ever been to and it looks very unique and classy. However, we ordered and our table was dirty. We were the first customers that day so how we're there crumbs and coffee stains already on our table? Next, they had some smooth coffee shop jams on but every few seconds we would hear a loud pop in the stereo that would startle everyone in the shop. A few minutes later music would come back on. This cycle repeated like 3 times during our visit. Finally, They served us our food at the table and we had quite a few dishes because my wife ordered a pot of tea, I got a coffee, and then we both had breakfast. So as you'd assume, you leave. Tip along with the dishes at the table right? NO! NOT HERE. As we leave our tip and get up to go we see a sign that explains that we need to take our dishes back to the counter. We go to take them to the counter and there is no tub or anything to put the dishes in. So we just sit them on top of the trash can and took our tip back ($20).
Again, the place was nice and the food and drink was good but they have some growing to do in the service and cleaning ess department. Dont put all this effort into setting yourself apart from other coffee shops with your fancy decor, and then forget to set yourself apart in the customer service department. I hope they take my criticism and make the necessary...
