We asked guest services downstairs at hard rock hotel and casino if carvers on 19 was a good steak house the answer was a yes.so off we went to the 19th floor we went. upon entry of the restaurant I noticed they was just a few tables occupied, with a little concern because it was just berley 8pm I'd thought it would have been at least 1/3full of people no not at all anyways our waiter(s) came got our drink order and expressed how he was vegan right after I asked about the meat and cheese tray so oddly we didn't get it and ordered there what I call mini tacos that was 29 dollars I believe for 3 mini bite size tacos then as we waited a very short maybe 5 minutes to receive are appetizer we had both decided to get a surf and turf not thinking that we was about to get completely ripped off we ordered I wanted a filet mignon and lobster with asperges why my partner wanted a steak with the crab legs and Mac and cheese so yes we very much expected and big bill I figured around 100 per each of us maybe a little more but with the tip our bill would reach around 300 the menus only had prices on limited items not a big deal there was a ball park idea of the prices so again thinking with a very nice tip we was talking about 300 witch is high but hey let's do it and enjoy it right no or mini tacos tasted like pulled pork street tacos and my filet mignon was raw cold to touch in center and lobster was to big tasted like salt and was extra rubber texter and the asperges was Hugh and tuff with no seasons and very tuff why my partners steak had way more gross fat than meat and his Mac and cheese had cured cheese in it, so was texture gross. his crab leggs was very good nothing else was wrong we asked our waiter for to go box as we decided that our fur puppies would like the left overs that we sure couldnt eat not cause we was full but because it was just not very good when he came back he offered to box it for us when he brought are food back all boxed up in a big paper sack he brought the bill just guess how much it was I'm not lying I swear the bill was$720.00 no type-o it was 720.00 so I tipped the waiter 80.00 and smilled at my partner and asked if he was ready that was the worst food and nothing but a really bad joke. I didn't laugh.... for those wanting a beautiful view yes it's that on the 19th floor.. the food was what it was and for 800 that's what we experienced .. save your money and go to Texas rd house at least your going to know what to expect. With no surprises and a by far better food and that I...
Read moreMy wife and I have always enjoyed McGill’s until August 5, 2022 my wife and I both had steaks, she had the filet and I had the ribeye. Both were horrible and we couldn’t stand to eat more than half of them. Soaked in salt on the bottom side so bad, indicates a cheap cut of meat and trying to tenderize them with salt. The bake potatoes were hard and shriveled up like they were left over from the previous night. Order of steak mushrooms were like eating rubber that had no taste. Grilled veggies were burnt. Shrimp cocktail were really nice prawns shrimp but were so fishy smelling, but with enough cocktail sauce were able to choke them down. How ever the wine was the best part of the evening. We ordered cheesecake to take back to our room and the didn’t give us any forks or napkins in the bag. McGills use to be a classy place but apparently they have new management and have relaxed the dress code. Half the customers looked like they had been at the pool or panhandling down on the street corner. We have enjoyed this restaurant for years but not anymore. Bad food and surroundings doesn’t make a high class establishment. Just the $ 425.00 ticket was the only thing high class !!!! Don’t waste you money on this place, put in the machines down stairs. Go to the 66 Diner for better food and...
Read moreThe reservation process was extremely chaotic. Hotel could not book a party of 12 although we had 10 rooms booked. Restaurant hostess said "no" when we tried to make a reservation for 12 over a month ago. Tried again several times with no luck. To stop the 'NO' attitudes we ended up booking 2 tables to accommodate our group, perfect! Last night we came up to the restaurant and someone in our group said, "party of 12" and they sat us immediately. Nobody ever asked our name, reservation, etc. Server reported after going back and forth (somewhere) they were out of the first 4 wines by the bottle I ordered, crazy!! Aside from the booking and wine ordering 1st impressions, dinner was good - wagyu overpriced at $210-240/steak but again that didn't stop us it was good. Dining service was solid. Overall this place just needs to take non-refundable deposits for reservations or pre-authorize a F&B minimum to ensure they only pre-book serious large parties staying in the hotel. Or just stop taking reservations and say walk in only. Oh, yeah and also reduce the size of your wine list if you can't keep everything in stock, SMH still at that lack of attention to basics. Fix the 1st impressions of having a solid booking system and keeping everything in stock and this will be a 5 star...
