Mortimer's Cafe and Pub — Restaurant in Charlotte

This was my third time to Mortimers. My first visit was great! Great service, great food and great atmosphere. My other two visits didn't go as well. Second visit a cook called of so the kitchen was closed. Seems to me that a call of shouldn't sit down their food service, but not really that big of a deal as you can't control such things. My third, and likely final, visit was today. Went in during lunch rush and sat at the bar. It was busy so it took the bar tender a moment to get my beer, no biggy. After that, nothing. Another couple of guys came in and say next to me and got their drinks and food while I politely waited for my order to be taken. After I finished my beer and their food was delivered I finally managed to get the bar tenders attention to tell him I just wanted to cash out. I think he realized what happened and he tools me it was on him. Nice to get a free beer, but I would have rather been able to eat on...

Visited here All-Star Weekend with family. This place has rude staff. We ended up having an unpleasant experience after one of their staff members purposely bumped into one of us with a bucket of ice.

Instead of the staff member being polite and professional in a place of business, the guy cursed and got mad because one of us was standing in his way. The guy said he spoke and asked one of us to move but in a crowded place with a DJ and loud music it is always hard to hear the person standing next to you. A tap on the shoulder would have been more professional. I don't think that is too much to ask.

Words were exchanged. They asked the person in my party to leave so we all left. Also beware of no itemization on receipts. You will just have a total that could be whatever they made up on the spot for drinks. Would not recommend; too many other options and this place is...

We ate here yesterday for first time. I don’t recommend at all. We were never greeted like others were when we first arrived. They don’t tell you to just sit at a table bc they have no servers. We sat at a table for 10 min with no help before we realized we had to go to bar to order. We had to order food and drinks at the bar and then at the end they charged gratuity. Gratuity for what? We as the customer did all the work in place of not having a server. You should not be able to charge gratuity for a party of 2. Also it is not posted on a menu nor in the restaurant that they automatically charge gratuity on everyone’s bill. Whether it’s a party of 1 or more....
