This place has SO much potential, but seeing it is recently somewhat of a new establishment, im hoping they are making serious work with making it better. Visited for a friend's bday dinner celebration at 8:30pm. The place is located in the same spot where "The Roxbury" nightclub used to be. Next door to Tequila House. It is a restaurant that turns into a nightclub after hours. Our waitress, phew, bless her heart. I know she was trying her hardest, but she really was giving off, barely seasoned and new to the crew vibes. She was super sweet and friendly, though. We ordered Prosecco, and we're told they actually do not have that. When asked if they had anything aimilar, she just said idk and left it at that (no type of help). A few other friends ordered the "Kings Crown" cocktail and apparently they ran out of that drink which is weird since it was still early on a Saturday and you would think they would stock up on those ingredients since it's their most "popular" drink. They ended up ordering a few other drinks from the menu, but none of them were a favorite among the group. A lot of the drinks tasted super watered down, so it left very little encouragement to order more drinks. We ordered the Causa Sampler, Pulpo Anticuchero, Lomo Saltado & the Arroz de Mariscos. Now, the Lomo Salvador was definitely a favorite amongst the group, and so was the Pulpo dish. Very tasteful ND very well marinated. The Arroz de Marisco was not a favorite. It looked more like soup that was topped with heavy serving of cheese, and we just could not stomach it. They did bring out a Tiramisu for my friend, but it was actually just a piece of chocolate cake. Even the server said it was just chocolate and didn't know why they advertised it as a Tiramisu. Overall, nice vibes and lovely restaurants. It was VERY empty for a Saturday night, and even during club hours, it was fairly empty. Seemed like a lot of people were going next door. I feel like they can...
Read moreTo summarize my review, I will not be returning to this place or Tequila House, or recommending it to anyone else, especially women. I was harassed by a man who abused his authority as a bouncer. Management attempted to silence me with alcohol, laughed and belittled the incident, proceeded to say “he is our best guy” and because they couldn’t believe it they said they would check the cameras.
In detail, the bouncer aggressively shoved me in the direction I was already going towards for a wristband. I turned around and asked him to please not touch me. After I received my wristband, I turned around and saw the same bouncer checking bags. I proceeded to open my bag for him to check and he snatched it off of me and dumped all my things out. He then refused to pick it up or offer an explanation for his aggressive behavior. He finally turned around, got in my face and mocked my request for him to not touch me. Clearly, that request upset him. I stood there and insisted he pick up my things and return my bag the way it was. After ignoring me for a while, my friend and I took our phones out to record. He then tried to shove my things my way and when I once more insisted he return it the way it was, he finally did.
My two girlfriends that were waiting for me were in shock, as was I. One even had my lip gloss, which landed where she was standing by the bar. I felt unsafe to leave until my friends could walk me out later that night. I am disappointed in management and no longer feel safe in either one of their bars, Pisco or Tequila House. The video attached is of the bouncer...
Read moreBeen a few times now and they're pretty awesome! Came for private event. Found out it's owned by a UNCC alumni. Makeover is chic. I ordered the classic Peruvian ceviche fish. OMFG BEST EVER I HAVE FOUND TO DATE! EVERYTHING WAS ON POINT. Kudos to the chef because there was so much attention to every detail it was worth every penny and it was a huge portion. I dont even like sweet potato/yams and ate every bite they were so sweet soft and delicious. The deep fried sushi was okay, the rice got a little hard but the sauce was good with some standard shrimp sauce and the pink syrup sauce was good. The Arroz con pollo ball on slaw was amazing. The rice was perfect and the chicken was moist the perfect amount of seasoning and flavor cilantro cumin. The slaw was a tiny bit mustardy but complimented it very well. For the private event they played mostly bosanova music. But in club nights the DJs have a good mix of music with different moods upstairs versus downstairs. I got to try the Passion fruit cheesecake was delicious but hadn't quite set and didn't have a crust so I wouldn't consider it a cheesecake. I've tried some of their cocktails including the Pisco sour which was great even though I think they made mine with passion fruit pisco by accident. The whiskey disaronno drink was too sugary, too much sugar between the disaronno pineapple juice sour and I think triple sec even though I had asked for something not sweet. They really could use some hard seltzers especially as popular as they are...
