Overall, average experience. Service met expectations in the sense of getting our order fulfilled, but the food left a bit to be desired. Since it was kind of slow, it was seat yourself seating. Fried pickles were good and crunchy. We also ordered the spicy fried chicken sandwich w/ mashed potatoes and fries, the 2-piece dark meal w/ mashed potatoes and green beans, and some soda/tea. My bf liked his sandwich overall, but thought it lacked spice for being a spicy sandwich but after adding the table hot sauce, he enjoyed it. He did love the fries though. We both wished we skipped the mashed potatoes, they were kind of lacking body and flavor. Same goes for the green beans. They also came out cold. Not terrible, just felt like the sides were missing something. I would have told my server something about it to remedy it, but we hadn't seen her for a bit after the initial bite. I didn't knock off points for my rating for that though, but something I'd mention. We weren't offered drink refills either, but I'm not sure if that's typical or not for this place either. My fried chicken was nice and tasty though. It was our first time there and we would maybe try it again if we're ever drive through Chattanooga again, but it wasn't my personal favorite. I don't mind spending money for a good meal, but I don't think the value was there. The meal quality just wasn't up to par with its price point. I'm hoping it was just fluke, but if I'm ever back, I'll be sure to come back and update the review. Side note, the place does look cool though and remember to park in the champy's marked free parking spots to avoid...

We were given recommendations to try this spot. Seems like a highlighted and very well liked place that keeps a crowd, whether dining inside or their outside patio area and or pick up to go. There's dollar bills plastered everywhere, I'm sure there's history but some of them had fuzz on them. I'm guessing dust fuzz. Anyway they were entertaining to look at while we waited for our food. I wanted catfish initially but then I thought I'm at a chicken spot so I better order what they are known for. Our apps were fried green tomatoes and they were absolutely delicious. We waited awhile for our food to come as well. I had the 2pc white and hubby had 3pc dark and our son had tenders with Mac n cheese. My wing and hubby leg were extra small. The chicken had way too much breading for me and fried crunchy hard. I couldn't taste the spice but son was fanning his tongue and hubby agreed it was a little spicy. Wish they warned us as we didn't expect that. The mac n cheese was tasteful and great for a kid option as the noodles were spiral elbows. They do have them overly saturated in cheese sauce though. We didn't eat much all around and I decided to take back to the hotel. So glad I did because we saw a homeless man and I asked if he was hungry and he said he was and I happily gave him a container full of chicken and a few...

Family of 6 including 4 kids aged 6-12 visiting from out of state. We loved this restaurant and will definitely be back next time we visit Chattanooga.

Found it by doing some research online then was validated by other out of town visitors who we talked with at Ruby Falls.

The motif was neat. Our table was under the upside down Christmas tree. Only thing with that table that sucked a little bit was that the line for the bathroom crowded over us while we tried to eat.

The fried chicken was outstanding. Great sized chicken breast with wing. The Potato salad and baked beans sides was a little smaller than I thought it would be.

We had to order a refill on the macaroni and cheese for the 6 year old because the portion was not enough for him.

For an appetizer, we ordered the Mississippi River Delta tamales. They forgot to bring them, so they were free. They were good but I think the price might be a little bit steep, but I'm not a tamale expert so who knows?

The sweet tea was not too sweet and the refills came without prompting for them.

Waitress was Mad Dog who was very polite and respectful.

Family of 6 cost about $70 before tip.

We will be back. You will be happy...

Okay so we tried to go The Pickle Bar but they don’t like kids 🙄 which was honestly so good for us bc we found ✨@Champy’s Chicken ✨ and we absolutely loved it!!! The chicken was delicious and our waitress was adorable!! We loved her. They have all the good food but the best part is the family meals. We took home a ton of food and everyone left with full bellies. Mama had a couple drinks too. We loved the whole place and will absolutely be back!! ❤️ #vacation #family #travel #dinner #fortysandfowl #chicken #tennessee #fypシ #familytime

We heard nothing but rave reviews from the locals. Silly me, I didn't realize it was a bar with dollar bills plastered all over the walls. Honestly, I spent much of my time estimating how many thousands of dollars are being used as wall paper. High:15k Low: 10k Who knows? Our question was, who has the best chicken in town? We were told by several, Champy's. It was good, not great. I prefer the hot chicken @Hattie B's. To each his own. Our server also recommended the tamales. My wife said, "you know, Mississippi is famous for it's tamales." I didn't know but had to try them. Disclaimer: I'm from NM, where the best pork tamales you've ever tasted are purchased out of an ice chest in the trunk of a Ford Fiesta. I was willing to give Champy's a chance. Decent. Wouldn't order again. Frankly, wouldn't go back. There's better chicken out there. But if your looking for cheap beer and decent food, give 'em a try. The photo was the absolute best part of my meal...spending time with my favorite person of 30 years. I almost forgot! The baked beans and slaw were very good!
