Fannie May — Restaurant in Chicago

I went to the Fannie May Store today at 343 N. Michigan Ave at about 3:24 pm. I went in because I wanted to purchase 2 one pound boxes of mint meltaways. I parked in front of the store so my time was limited. When I entered the store the sales people were all busy with customers. So I looked around and right in the front of the store there were the smaller four to a package mint meltaways for 7 for $10.00. So I decided to get fourteen of them and call it a day in the interest of time. There was a so called manager standing at the register helping other customers in the store ringing them up on the register in front of me. This manager stood there all while I was gathering the bars of candy and she never asked if I needed help. When I was ready to pay for these items this manger looks right at me a walks away. I then ask if I get get help with paying for my items. The manager then turns around and say in a derogatory tone I didn’t know you were ready. There was an exchange of words between the two of us, but I have never been told by a sales person or manager of any store at the cash register. “YOU!!! don’t have to buy this here!!! I then left the store. If this is the type of employee especially a manager that Fannie May Hires she’s right,I will not buy anything else from Fannie May. My family and I have been purchasing Fannie May candy all my life that’s over...

My husband has been buying me two or three boxes of Fannie May for Christmas for over a decade. I have noticed that if you buy the dark chocolate vanilla butter creams at that time of year nine times out of 10 they're dried out in the middle. The buttercream is not creamy, it does not taste the same at all and it's almost hard. It's a complete waste of money to buy them at this time of year. It's better off buying them a month earlier or later. There's something wrong with their quality control that Fannie Mae has not realized this after all these years of having the same problem. I cannot be the only person that this has happened to and although I have not written a review stating this information previously I'm sure other people have or they've called or something to reach out and let them know the issue. And it's such a pity because they are my favorite candy and if you get them fresh they are so smooth and creamy...

Recently stopped into this location on a trip to Chicago to purchase a box of chocolates and was impressed by every aspect of my experience! Every member of the staff was knowledgeable, kind, gracious, and patient. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left, I had a smile on my face and was reminded of why I make a point to patronize not only this business but also this location. I complimented the manager on her team as well as her fabulous glasses and made sure to let the young people that helped me know they had made my day that much brighter.
