My friend and I like to try new places to eat, and we thought we would try Freddy's yesterday. What a disaster that was! We ordered our food, which took a good long while to cook, considerably that we were the only ones in there, and then, when our two different burgers arrived, with our fries, we were A LONG way from being impressed.
My friend's order of cheesy fries had a small bit of cheese. Not nearly enough to taste--let alone cover the fries--and what she could taste of the fries was something like freezer burn, with no salt at all.
Her burger was a steakburger...at last that was what it was SUPPOSED to be. But instead of mouth watering steak, like she expected, she got a dry hamburger with more mustard then bun on top of it. The salt that lacked on her fries was not missing however, but instead in the middle of the burger, with a BANG to her taste buds.
Now comes my order. The cheesy fries looked right, with a fair amount of cheese, and the flavor was good, but they were cold.
My Bacon Double Steakburger, however, was not as nice. Like my friend, it was bland and flavorless, up until the part in the middle where I was assaulted by mustard and salt. And my bacon was not crisp and yummy, but fatty and undercooked.
I choked my way through the burger, because I had just spent $13 dollars on my "meal" and was trying to find something to like about it. The best part of my torture was the mint Concrete that I'd ordered, and that was like having vanilla ice cream with a tiny, itty bitty bit of mint, which I couldn't finish.
All the bad experiences in the restaurant itself aside, only a half an hour after we left the place, with our taste buds drowning in mustard and salt, we went to Walmart and both of us, without fail were attacked with HORRIBLE stomachaches, which had us doubled over (I remind you that we got two different burgers) at the register. I could barely drive home. When I did manage to get to my apartment, I took several stomach aids and spent a considerable time in the restroom. Then we both went to bed with upset stomachs, which persisted into our work day just today.
If it isn't already obvious, I will never be going back to Freddy's nor recommending them. If the food had been worth the stomachache, it'd be different, but I have never had such sharp attacks on my stomach like that, especially over bland food.
Perhaps our experiences were one in a million, so you are all free to do what you wish regarding your futures at Freddy's, but as for my friend and I, we will NOT be...
Read moreEvery time I go there I get the absolute best customer service from any business in town!! From all the other hundreds of food vendors to all the retail stores, government agencies, car dealerships, even my own bank!! Their the most respectful business I've ever seen. Any small mistake they make, they will go over the top to make sure I'm happy. There has been times where the littlest things like, I didn't get the right custard, the correct size soda I ordered, or if they forgot extra fry sauce, and I've told them it's ok. Sometimes I didn't even bring it to their attention and they caught their mistake, again I've told them it's ok. Yet they give me no choice but to send me off WITH my mistake, and also the correct order. Usually a business will take back an order they messed up, not freddy's! I'll get home and start handing the family the food they wanted, then keep handing them more. Then I get to the bottom of the last bag, and theirs a free meal card or a free custard card. Twice I have gotten both in my bag for absolutely no reason! The first time I called to see if it was a mistake, and the managers let me know they just wanted to show their appreciation of my business with them. I actually just finished my meal from them before I started writing this. Tonight they gave me smaller sodas then i meant to order, it was totally MY FAULT for not saying large. I said regular and told them I meant to order large, and that I was sorry to ask for bigger ones. The window clerk just laughed and said "it's nobody's fault, we'll take care of it" he let me keep the incorrect sodas, and got me the large sodas FOR FREE. When he opened the window to hand me the sodas, he already had a drink carrier for me. I didn't even have to ask. This place has me hooked, I hope they see this and know that their highly valued in my home. I'll keep going back, even if some days I have a terrible experience. A terrible experience is no surprise in the pocatello/chubbuck food industry. I generally have bad luck when we eat out. Buddy's, Applebee's, sumi su, McDonald's, kfc, butterburrs, red lobster, kiwi loco, noodles and company, fuji Japanese steakhouse, Texas roadhouse, popeyes, buffalo wild wings, and a ton other. I have either had a bad experience or average on a good day with these places. NOONE COMPARES TO FREDDY'S FROZEN CUSTARD, NOONE. Absolutely gonna give these guys 5 stars!!...
Read moreDo you have a restaurant that you've always wanted to try but either don't think of it or you're never close to it when you're ready to eat and you want something right then? That's the way I was with Freddy's. We were driving around thinking of something our young family would enjoy is sometimes a challenge. We were over not too far from Freddy's when it finally came to my mind and we all decided to give it a try.
A very classic burger place with 1950s diner-styled decor, the restaurant is a tribute to the owner and creator of Freddy's. In a crafted style similar to Steak-n-Shake, these thin "steakburgers" are really good! Served with shoestring french fries or your choice of a few other sides, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how good the burgers are. The manager, when he found out it was our first visit, gave us a small complimentary scoop of their frozen custard. Everything was excellent. The only thing I can think of that's a downside is that they serve Pepsi, but they hear Dr Pepper so that's all good.
It is on the higher priced side of burger restaurants. For two adults and three kids, it cost us $30 and that's because my wife took the kid's meal drink and only ordered a burger and shared my fries.
If you are a burger fan, you have to...
