It's the nicest dive bar that's not a dive at all. This might just be the best true bar in downtown Cincinnati. 25-ounce Hudy Schooners are the best deal in town. "Every hour is happy hour at the Bay Horse Cafe" and the drink prices are super reasonable. The lunchtime paninis are delicious and a steal. They've got other small bites all day too. This is a great place for a lunchtime meeting or a one-on-one conversation. Casual atmosphere without the crowds and blaring music. The owner's did a great job of bringing back the historic charm of this once notoriously seedy bar all while keeping its down-to-earth every-man feel. Modern updates to bathrooms, no more foul smells, and woman-ownership make this a complete 180 degree turnaround from what this bar once was. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Update 2: A lot more N-A beers + THC / CBD drinks now. They have 2 electronic darts games in the back room. Update 1: I just found out that you can buy cans and bottles to go. Also, good to know they have an N-A beer option (Budweiser Zero). ----- Initial Review ----- A great watering hole where every hour is happy hour. The prices are good plus they have specials like Wine Wednesdays. I like the bartenders and the regulars are cool people too. There's lounge seating, a sidewalk fresh air space plus another room in back. It's a couple blocks from Fountain Square, around the corner from the Aronoff Center (so it's close to downtown hotels, restaurants and workplaces).

A true throwback of the old neighborhood bar where everyone and anyone stops in to have a drink, say hello or it’s very nice to meet you. Been a long time since I’ve been in a ‘neighborhood bar’ where there are no strangers, only new friends. Congratulations on bringing Bay Horse Cafe back to life, a huge piece of Cincinnati has been saved. #SecondOldestBarInCincy is still kicking it! #HudySchooner

After 2 years of extensive reclamation/rehab work on this venerable building, new owners Lori and Fred have restored this cincy landmark to its original form. Tin ceiling, tile floors, and a beautifully refinished wood bar, complete with columns and mirrors, along with antique phones, and a comfortable "back room" with a sumptuous leather couch, all has the bay horse back on the map... It's a must-visit... Local beers...especially Hudy...as well as craft offerings are complemented by delicious simple sandwiches and paninis, all at reasonable prices. The considerable and, to say the least, colorful history of the establishment is chronicled in articles and photos displayed throughout...located close to everything downtown I highly recommend this historical gem...closed most Sundays...
