3-10-2019 On this day, my niece Jaz and I went to walk down by The Banks. We stopped to swing over by the Great American Ball Park (GABP) and Christian Moerlein area. Jaz got a taste for sushi so we decided on Mr. Sushi's 6th and Walnut streets location. I was excited not only to be in my niece's company, but she sparked my interest in something I never tried: Fried Sushi. I haven't been to visit this establishment since moving back to Cincy in 2015. Not entirely sure what to expect. At the advice of Jaz, I ordered the Sunday Morning ( Fried ) roll and went rogue and ordered the Yum-Yum (Cold) roll just because it sounded good. ( I think it was called Yum- Yum...hell, I forgot! I do remember at least one 'Yum' in the title) Needless to say, both rolls were fresh, beautifully presented on the platter with generous portions of pickled ginger and wasabi. My love of people watching prompted me to look around to see who else had been biten by the Sushi Bug. Aside from a woman that kept given me "stank face", it was nice to see the mix of two, four, and twelve tops enjoying themselves, enjoying their selections, enjoying the moment ( And I must mention the gentleman at the bar who ocassionally let the entire restaurant know he approved of a basket shot with loud, piercing claps) Let me now introduce you to Octavia, our Server. She's good. Wait! Let me rephrase that: She's guud! Here's why: We all have had that one Customer Service moment that totally f 'ed up the entire experience. It was my pleasure to see Octavia take pleasure in doing her job. David in Body Composition. Goliath in Personality. That to me, was as equally good if not better than the food. Rock it...

Awaking from a foolish evening nap in my 15th floor hotel suite in Downtown Cincinnati, I concluded that hunger was getting the best of me. The ripples of my empty stomach forced my fingers to frantically scour the nearest and dearest take-out spots. Arise Mr. Sushi. A 4 star rating and a 3 minute walk from my hotel (6 minutes from my room. I am on the 15th floor, after all). A nameless gentleman answers my prayers aka phone call. "Is he Mr.Sushi?", I ask myself. He acknowledges my desperate situation. Aware that the restaurant is 40 minutes from closing, I waste no time in ordering a solid and lavish banquet for one. (I'm taken, ladies): Miso soup and salad Spicy Shrimp and Scallop Yellowtail Sashimi Edamame $32.20 "No more than 15 minutes, Sir" is the parting information the presumed Mr. Sushi offers. A quick shower and I am on my way. Sporting my Nike Free Run Flyknits, I make it out of the hotel in record time. Jaywalking saves me precious seconds. Heart racing. Mouth salivating. Mr. Sushi greets me with a smile and two bags of Japanese delight. "Watch out for the soup" he cautions. A little twinkle in his eye gives solace to my evening alone in The Queen City. Rushing home, minding my soup, I dodge two speeding ambulance trucks and spare a thought for those who certainly won't be grappling with chop sticks tonight. Now with a belly full, a mouth on fire and a Paul Rudd film for company; I am thankful that Mr. Sushi was my Mr. Big for one night only here in...
Read moreI’m appalled at the service here (downtown location). The male employee with short hair, and dark blue jeans was very unprofessional. He called me rude to my face, because I didn’t leave a tip. I proceeded to politely say I never tip on takeout orders but I’ll remember that for next time. And he continues to say it’s rude because he’s in the service industry and makes only $4.35 an hour. I ordered TAKEOUT. I walked from home to pick it up, it would be different if I was dining in.
I paid extra for sauces and was given a cup of water that I asked for. He used the water to say “I just gave you a free water” during the conversation .. He should’ve let me know the water wasn’t free instead of choosing to hold it over my head. I said i don’t need the water then and in an annoyed tone started telling me to just keep it. I left the water there, took my food and left. I’ve asked multiple of my friends on the internet and they’ve all said they don’t tip on takeout orders. Correct me if I’m wrong, but what is the service being provided when you pick up an order? He wasn’t even nice to me before I paid, his energy was off. I don’t think it’s polite to openly hassle your customers for a tip. Tips aren’t mandatory, especially not on take out orders. I felt like he was trying to shame and guilt trip me, which is not the way to go about things. when you want someone’s money. I have a hard time eating as it is and the encounter made me lose my appetite. Never had this experience...
