A wine list for the curious modern consumer paired with wonderful creative food, attentive service, a sexy dark decor, and upbeat music. Whether you are looking for domestic, old world, or "natural" wine (whatever that means to you), this place has a nice mix without being limiting in any way. What I happily did not see was mass produced brands that you see at places that aren't really interested in their own wine lists. While they do have some local selections, I would enjoy seeing more New York wines from FLX, Long Island, and Hudson Valley. Some of these can be inconsistently available, but they did have a great Cab Franc from Bloomer Creek, which can be a tough FLX get. Sous vide octopus finished over the wood fire, pork schnitzel, and local greens were awesome. If I wanted to go out with a group of friends for a fun dinner in the Spa, this would be the top of my list. While the predecessor Flatbread Social felt like a classy spot with too many children, this one is decidedly for the grown ups. Please leave the kids at home and come ready to have fun. With the shareable plates I also felt this was a good value but I might expect that these prices will change as the spot is discovered. Do...
Read moreThere is SO much to like about this new spot. The interior is beautiful with nice, varied seating options. I cannot leave a review without mentioning the bar. It's nice and wide, so really comfortable to eat at, with the most comfortable bar seats I've ever experienced. If I was a local, I would make it my go-to bar just for the seats alone!
Next up, drinks. As a wine bar, it naturally has a great selection of wines. I recommend talking to your server for direction as everybody is really knowledgeable about the wine list. And if you are not a wine person, they've got a great cocktail selection as well (and I am picky when it comes to cocktails).
Finally, the food. The menu has a lot to choose from and is ever changing, a feature I really like because keeping up with the season changes is important. The flatbread with the spiced creme is killer and the pork schnitzel was somehow way better than anticipated.
This place has a lot to offer and can fit different plans, from girl dinner to date night. It's definitely good for both and you should for sure try it.
Bonus points for really nice bathrooms with...
Read moreWe have been staying in Saratoga Springs for many years, although we hadn't been back in about five. Kindred was such a welcome addition to the restaurants that we had frequented in the past, and I'm so happy that this is where we chose to have dinner.
Excellent food-- my husband and I shared several dishes and from the marinated olives to the brisket huaraches to the prosciutto and cheese flatbread, everything was delicious. They have a wonderful wine and cocktail list and we each had two glasses of a lovely rose'. So, for four glasses of wine and four different shared plates, our total was just over $100! Excellent for what we were served. Speaking of service, our server was wonderful and I wish I had written down her name! She was friendly, paced everything perfectly, and did a great job of being accommodating without being on top of us during the meal. (If management reads this, we were there on Saturday, Aug 9th at about 5pm in case you want to commend your employee!)
A great experience and I can't...
