I used to really enjoy Makondo — it was my go-to place for good, authentic Colombian food without the high prices or the flashy atmosphere of places like Colombia House. The food is still good, no complaints there, but the prices have gone up way too much.

$8 for an Avena Fría? That used to be a small treat, now it feels overpriced. It’s not just the drinks — everything on the menu has gone up noticeably. I understand prices change, but this feels like too much.

Makondo used to strike a great balance between quality and value. Now it feels like they’re trying to position themselves as something fancier, but without the atmosphere or service to match. I had an incredible dining experience at Makondo Restaurant in White Plains. From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch friendly, attentive, and welcoming.

We ordered the Bandeja Paisa, and it was absolutely fantastic. Every component of the dish was cooked to perfection, and the meats were seasoned just right, bringing out authentic Colombian flavors. The portion was generous, making it a truly satisfying meal.

To drink, I had the natural passion fruit juice, and wow so refreshing and flavorful! It was the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, complementing the meal beautifully.

Cosy restaurant with delight bilingual staff, food here is extremely delicious. All dishes come in large portions, perfect for a family gathering, make sure to ask for any specials. This cozy restaurant was once called Brownies Restaurant and Bakery, the food was excellent. But new owners took over and renamed to Pantojarse Restaurant and Brakery.
