Updated review: My initial review was made six months ago (when I didn't have a service animal). As a courtesy, something I did not have to do, I called in advance and spoke to the manager, James, to alert him that I have a service animal. I didn't want to have any issues upon arrival. From the moment I walked in, I was treated differently. First, allow me to share that not all disabilities are visible. Second, by law, I am not required to share what my disability is. Third, a person with a service animal is not supposed to be segregated, isolated or discriminated in any way. When you walk in, the bar is to your right, in the middle are two high tables with stools and to your left there is the back room (the couches and the fireplace). Jeremy, who greeted me, was trying to put me by myself. He made that statement at least three times. If I am sitting high up, my service animal can't perform his tasks. So, I asked if I could sit at the bar with my service animal on my lap. Before saying it was fine, he immediately went over to a patron sitting at the bar and asked if they minded if a dog was next to them. This is wrong, legally. He isn't a dog, he is a service animal. Regardless of allergies or fear of dogs, service animals are allowed where the public is permitted. Asking customers if they mind that a "dog" is next to them is inappropriate. My service animal was quiet, they weren't barking, they were cooperative and on my lap for the duration of my visit. Having a service animal has been a new experience for me, and the mistreatment at this spot was appalling. Once I finally sat down, I had been sitting and waiting to order a drink for about 10mins. A man walked in, sat two seats over from me and he was served promptly, within a few minutes. That is discrimination against a person with a disability. There were laws broken here; the Blind Pig is lucky that they are just getting a nasty review. Is their food good? Yes! Do their bartenders (depending on who you get) make decent drinks? Yes! But none of that is important when you are isolated and discriminated against for having a service animal. The back room was more than half empty when I got there. There wasn't a party going on. They could have invited me to sit there and on the couch so I could be in close proximity to my service animal, but that was not an option. I deeply regret going here. I am extremely disappointed. I won't be returning. I don't recommend going here (and this is someone who went before she had a service animal and thought it was a great place- it's not what it's cracked up to be). Consequently, they lose four stars from me. This is a really bad look for your business. Do better.
I went here for the second time last night with a friend and I cannot express enough how nice of a spot this is. If you consider yourself old-school, old-fashioned you'll love it. There's a splash of modern too. The bartenders are warm, friendly and welcoming (truthfully, I've never had cocktails so beautifully made and equally delicious). I also really love the bow tie look for them. We both had the Fall Mule, which was fantastic (and I don't even like ginger in my drinks, so that says something). We also had the devil eggs, which were so yummy. The ambiance is very inviting and relaxing (as a healthcare worker who worked the pandemic, a relaxing environment is a MUST). It was sincerely a...
Read moreWell, what a terrible experience I had at this place. It was the first time I was accused of not paying for a bill that was actually not mine lol
My girlfriend and I decided to stop by after having dinner somewhere else in order to have a couple of drinks. As I got there this very nice lady greeted us at the door and sat as down at the bar. As soon as we sat down, a very nice bartender got us water and welcomed us.
However a couple of minutes went by and this other bartender came up to us and said “didn’t I just serve you guys over there? I could swear I just served you guys”. We said we had just arrived and it must have been a coincidence.
He then served us our drinks and proceeded on saying “it was definitely you guys over there” so things started getting a little bit uncomfortable and he proceeded on insisting it then apologizing, then saying the same thing again…
Obviously we decided to leave as he was making the whole thing very weird. Then he goes and talks to another bartender and comes with the check with a nasty attitude saying “well here’s the bill for the two drinks from now and the other drinks that other bartender served you earlier” and proceeded to cross his arms as if he had caught to schemers trying to avoid paying for their bill. I politely called the other bartender to clarify the situation and he clearly realized it was a mistake on their end and whispered something to the annoying dude’s ear. Then I also got the guy that initially had served us water to confirm we had just gotten there.
Only then he apologized and didn’t let us pay for the bill trying to make up for his terrible attitude. However he then said “Well if this wasn’t you guys I’m truly sorry they must have looked just like you, but if was you guys you’re getting free drinks on us anyways”
We just turned around and left, and as we got to the door we spoke to the nice lady that had sat us down to confirm our story. We were there for a total of 20 mins before deciding to leave and never going back there.
Funny enough, we were very well dressed and just looking to extend our night and having a good time. He manage to make things very weird and ruin the whole experience. I’m not exaggerating, if anything I’m leaving more details off as he kept on going on and on about insisting we had drinks before and didn’t pay for our “tab”. We will never go back there again, and I wont recommend the place to...
Read moreFirst of all, the vibe here is really cool. It’s dark and moody and low lit and feels like a cool, hidden gem of a place. The intrigue ends there though. The hostess seated us at this tiny 2 person table smooshed into a corner between a huge booth and next to 2 other 2 seater tables. One side is booth seating and the other is a tiny chair that’s not comfortable and makes you feel squished in. The feeling is very much that they’re trying to fit as many people as possible in this small establishment, at the cost of comfort. My fiance had made reservations and specified that it was for my birthday. But they sat us at this shitty little spot. There was a better table open, but we couldn’t get it cuz another couple was coming in and they were to be seated there…so much for making it a special occasion. We could barely have our own conversation because we were hearing everything the people to either side of us was saying. It was very loud.
The hostess then told us water options and ran off the second my fiance gave his, disregarding me and his attempts to call her back. The waiter then came by and left quite a bit to be desired. He seemed hurried and struggled to understand us. I got a soda and it came flat- when we asked to have it changed he took it and didn’t come back. When i asked he said i could get something else but the soda came from the bar streamer and they wouldn’t change it… then i was just drinking the water which he also took when empty, but never refilled. My fiance ordered the fries (an additional $4 charge mind you) and they didn’t come out with his food. When we asked, the waiter acted like he’d never heard anything about fries and didn’t even apologize. The couple next to us got one order & the other persons order never came.. he got his food after she’d fully completed her meal. just unreal how the service was. Finally, at no point did they acknowledge we were celebrating anything or do anything to make it a better experience overall. We will never be returning,...
