One of the most horrible experiences ever at a movie theater! I was so excited to hear that a new movie theater was coming to White Plains. I was crushed when they closed down the old multiples. Going to the movies is my church and it is getting harder and harder to have the “big screen” experience nowadays. There is no comparison to getting away from it all and watching a great movie in a movie theater. Watching in your living room pales in comparison. I counted down the days till the grand opening of the new Apple Cinemas. Paid for my ticket and was horrified whenI visited the ladies room to discover it had not been cleaned for the “grand opening” and there was not a drop of soap anywhere so you could properly wash your hands. Disgusting! Thinking this was just an oversight I approached a manager who said he “would take care of it.” There was still plenty of time before the movie started so I sat down and surfed the net on y phone. After about 20 mins I returned to the restroom and still no soap and not clean. I even took a look in the men’s room and the situation was the same in there. At that point it was apparent that management was quite lacking and that my simple request to fill the soap dispensers and clean the restroom was completely ignored. With that I went to the box office and requested a complete refund. The manager and 2 other gentlemen including the one that was in charge of the bathrooms were fully engaged in what can only be described as a “coffee clotch”. Completely ignoring the customers, me included. All three including the manager were in close earshot of my refund request. To add insult to injury no one seemed to know the procedure to issue a refund. The entire time I kept telling them why I was so upset, but no one cared. Couldn’t even get them to make eye contact with me. After waiting almost 10 minutes and having to wait for another person to come to help the first person figure out how to issue my refund, it was finally done. My evening was completely ruined and unfortunately I will never return there again. I am highly disappointed at the disdain and indifference from the manager and the complete lack of customer service. The entire situation could have been avoided if they had just put soap in the soap dispensers. Instead they lost a customer who goes to the movies on average every day. I fear that this movie theater will be out of business in probably a year, maybe less as the management is clueless about handling customer concerns. If anyone goes there, beware and don’t expect much, this was way you won’t be incredibly disappointed lieI was on the “grand...

It was 78 degrees outside and I swear it had to be like 48-50 in the theater. The entire audience was complaining, and informed the staff. I assume they tried to help, but the temp sensor or something was wacky, A/C was running full blast the entire movie. I get keeping them cool, I always bring a sweater, but I had to go back to the car for a second for my wife and I. A hoody and a jacket each, and our extremities were still very cold.
Ticket purchase, the theater seat map and the actual theater did not line up at all. Map showed me center/left, actual seat with that number was center right. Not a big deal, just shows more operational hiccups still.
Check in, there are self serve PC monitor screens on the left when you come in to use, however they are not labeled at all. I only found out as the sales person for non reserved ticket yelled, "no no, way down/back that way if you already purchased"
Concessions, hot food looks to have just started, so didn't bother with that, knew it would be a work in progressb this early. On "regular" concession stuff, there is an express line if ordered "online". Should be app based if you going to offer that, so you can add while there too. who goes back into mobile web site to order popcorn? Hint the theater named apple does not = Apple (the big company). Kudos for being small and not getting into the trademark infringement area yet! (I mean that as a compliment)
Other wise the "manual order" concessions guy was fine, cheerful, and an easy experience. Self serve popcorn method (after you purchase and get the bucket) is one plus/good idea, to speed things up at the counter.
Seating is nice, recliners and such, but that's becoming pretty standard today, whenever a theater renovates.
All in all, a fairly standard movie theater experience, marded by a number of operational issues that I assume will resolve with time and workforce experience. The staff was fine, I just think the company is small/new and really doesn't have a good operational playbook, to hit the ground running, when they open...
Read moreNot only one of the worst theaters, one of the worst businesses. Just an awful experience.
Adding to this as they asked for more details, they asked me to email them directly, and, unfortunately, due to a lack of theaters in the area, I gave them another chance.
First off, emailing them directly is useless as they don’t respond. Their responses here are pro forma and performative.
Numerous people have complained about them not turning down the lights when the movie starts. That happens constantly. You can deal with it or miss part of the movie while trying to summon one of the zero people they have working there.
As for the zero people, that’s only a slight exaggeration. There are normally a couple. Sometimes they’re nice, sometimes it’s one too many as they are just downright rude. Sorry if customers don’t realize your bizarre way of checking in when there is nobody at the box office. If you don’t want to pay for employees, don’t allow the ones you deign to provide be condescending and rude for the infraction of not knowing your utterly unique process (or lack thereof).
I saw a morning show, first of the day. The threadbare, diseased looking chair in the picture was fully extended which meant it had been that way since the prior day. Once the lights were actually, finally turned down, it created a dangerous situation. The bruise on my leg from not seeing it was, sadly, low on the list of the unpleasantness at this theater.
Ultimately, studios need to own up to their part of the dearth of theater going audiences, but if you want to know why people choose to watch at home rather than turn out to the theater, visit Apple Cinemas White Plains. Mystery solved.
I look forward to the form response apologizing and assuring me that these are not the standards they hope to live up to. If they meant it I would not have experienced the same exact things that many who already commented did. It’s the only theater in my area and yet I still find myself rooting...
