In a bit of a offbeat location, but not hard to find. Parking is ample in the area. Beautiful building and design, color/decor layout give a nice feel, furniture a bit awkward, they need more small stool seats to go with the tables. One thing I did notice is they even offered high chairs. The staff is God awful and very unattentive(they honestly all need to be replaced with more focused, knowledgeable and customer friendly staff), from a bartender who doesn't pay attention to her totally empty bar when a patron walks up, sits and waits, to a cashier who fails to tell you what they are out of and who waves a to go box at me instead of bringing it to our table after I got up and asked for a box and was told sure as she walked away, to a drink runner who spills drinks on customers(yes spilled the latte on us and said oh sorry then went and got rags from the kitchen but didn't refill the latte), to a guy from the kitchen laying over the counter. The gentleman who I would believe is the manager was busy cleaning, checking on customers, running food and being professional (even lowering the television volume without being asked). Bathroom was iffy at best, didn't smell bad but was dirty with pump hand soap put directly on the sink ledge and dirty floors. Pricing is a bit high for the product, but average for The Flats. The best part of the visit was definitely the food. We had a bit of everything from their menu; lattes, cookies, cinnamon rolls, waffles, and flat bread pizza. Presentation was excellent, portion size was very good, taste shows time goes into the creations. Overall I'd say bring more money than a stop at your average cafe in Cleveland, if you're not in the area I wouldn't suggest going out of your way for a visit. PS ask for napkins, if not you...
Read moreI don’t ever leave reviews, but we went here twice on our trip to Cleveland and had the exact same experience both times.
I’ve wanted to go here for years but never had a reason to make a trip to Cleveland until this past weekend. We made 27 Club a priority destination on our trip and were extremely excited to finally try it. It was a cool place with great food. The coffee was tasty too, but there were certainly some downfalls.
My first drink, the Black Swan Mocha, was put in a to-go cup with no swan design (or any chocolate drizzle at all) even though it was ordered as a for-here drink with our food. That was a huge miss for me because the Black Swan is advertised everywhere as being served with the art on top. The mocha was also lukewarm… it tasted good though.
My second drink was a Diablo Latte, which was served in a to-go cup by default as well. It did not have the purple sugar rim. Once again, the specialty latte was missing one of the primary selling points of the drink. We asked for the sugar rim and glasses for our drinks, and it seemed like a bother until a different barista finally agreed.
The main complaint that we had was that the staff was very disappointing during our visits. There were 2 workers who were friendly and working hard the entire time. The rest of the staff was extremely unfriendly and did not seem to pay much attention to the customers. To put it simply, the baristas looked miserable. The drinks and food were very expensive, so it was frustrating to see corners being cut on all of the special details that 27 is known for and advertises on all of...
Read moreWe were excited to give this place a try given the rave reviews. When we arrived on a Saturday morning to grab coffee and breakfast, there was a line out the door. I think they would greatly benefit from an additional register to help move people through the line faster. It took over an hour to order, and then we had to cancel our food because it didn't come out in time for our schedule. Leaving three stars because (1) the staff was friendly, understanding, and accommodating within our tight schedule, (2) the food we saw other people order looked great, (3) as others have pointed out, the atmosphere was very modern and fun. But, the coffees that we waited an hour to get were just average (though we just got standard cold brews instead of one of their fancier drinks, which did look yummy!). We arrived at 10:45ish and had to wait in line until 11:40 to order food! What is odd is that there were a number of empty tables both inside and outside when we placed our orders - it seems that the cashier and baristas are unable to keep up the speed to fill orders fast enough for the number of tables they have available (possibly because they lack the equipment!). The person who took our order at the register estimated it would take about 25 minutes to get our food, which worked within our tight timeline for the day. But, when we checked on our order after 25 minutes, a different server let us know it would be about another 20 minute wait. We had to cancel our order and get a refund due to our time constraint. This was kind of frustrating after waiting so long to even...
