I came here on a Sunday around 11:30 on a quest to find a good French onion soup in Colorado springs. I went in thinking it was a sit down restaurant but you just order from the counter and they bring the food out which is fine but for me the problem was they brought different people's food out so far apart from each other that my guest was finished eating by the time my soup arrived. I also had to go back to the counter to ask if they bring out the drinks or we were supposed to have received them from the counter. I also had to ask if I was supposed to get a number. I saw a few other people having to ask for their waters as well so it's certainly not a smooth process. The food: The French onion soup was okay...it had plenty of cheese which is very important to me....the onions were caramelized a little bit too long creating a slight bitterness but it didn't take away from the dish too much. The créme brulee was great with a nice crispy top. We had a hot chocolate which was fun for my daughter and I had the ginger peach ice tea which was fresh and refreshing. The macarons we would not order again. Atmosphere: very bland...would benefit from some booths and partitions to lead to some privacy. It's just a bunch of tables out in the open and the customers were mostly over 70. They did play some French music which was a nice attempt and would be great if they did some small improvements inside...like paint 😬

We came here for lunch and it was pretty busy! The decor is simplistic and pretty. Loved the curtain holders. We ordered the french onion soup, a sandwich and salad, 5 macarons and a mocha and the summer spritzer to end the meal. Service was definitely quick. The french onion soup was delicious! They advertise that as best in town. I have not had other french onion soups in COS but this was pretty damn good!! And very filling too! I wasn't happy with the bread as the roll seemed too hard and then was pretty plain. My friend's sandwich was dry too but the salad was good. The mocha was very smooth, just enough coffee, chocolate and sugar. The spritzer was wonderful - a cooling mix of orange, pineapple, strawberries. The macarons were a treat. I loved the one with mint the most and the coconut the least. But they were all delicious. Definitely recommend a visit here to try the soup and the spritzer!

It was a little disappointed - the food was good, but I expect better. I ordered a chicken salad on a baguette. The chicken as well as the onions and celery was chopped so finely than the majority of taste was mayonnaise! In fact when you bite into the baguette all the Chicken Salad would squish out. I prefer bite size or larger chicken. The celery should be 1/4 bite size. Mayonnaise should be minimal. You should taste the chicken and feel the crunch of the celery and taste the chicken, celery, onions and lastly mayonnaise. I also had the corn chowder soup. It was think on corn chowder. Tasted good, could not determine that it was corn chowder. The baguette and the roll with the soup seemed a day or two old.

So we used to come here all the time, hadn’t for over a year and decided to bring family who were in town for breakfast and had a horrendous experience…

Initially I asked for a rag to wipe down a dirty high chair for our toddler, and the cashier just seemed really annoyed and then brought me back a clean rag with literally nothing on it. I asked for something to actually clean it with (as it had gross food bits all over it) and he brings back a bottle of windex. I ended up using soapy water from the bathroom to clean it up. Next he brings us the hot chocolates we ordered, but they were in those plastic soda cups which are #1 plastic meant for iced drinks which are NOT heat safe as it melts and leaches chemicals when heated. The bottoms were already warping when he brought them over. I bring them back and ask for them in regular coffee to go mugs, proceed to explain why and again, he just seems annoyed.

When we got the breakfast we ordered there were a multitude of things wrong with our order. The croissant sandwich had bacon instead of ham, the mixed fruit had run out so they gave us all cantaloupe, and two orders were missing scrambled eggs. We asked another employee for a refund and after waiting thirty minutes with no response we decided to leave as it was incredibly frustrating even trying to explain all the things that had gone wrong with our dining experience.

As we were leaving we saw an employee bringing in individually wrapped muffins and I think it is safe to say that most of what you are consuming here is not homemade, nor french, or fresh. The customer service is poor, the coffee tasted burnt, and judging by the cleanliness and reaction to asking for a clean place to sit- I seriously doubt they follow proper sanitation protocols. Super disappointing as this used to be a favorite breakfast place of ours, I don’t think we will be...

If you are looking in particular for a great breakfast, lunch or brunch place... Come here to this secret tucked away marvell ! I can't believe I forgot how big this place was..... Perfect fur a ladies luncheon or just a gathering for friends regardless of gender. The portions are generous... The costs are average for French cuisine in the area... The food is really tasty. I have come here (about an hour away)just for their French Onion Soup which is the best in Colorado Springs... I am not exaggerating.. It is so thick, rich and flavorful that it could stand on its own even without the crazy awesome melted cheese on top. Not too salty AT ALL (I don't eat much salt so I can say that with confidence) and generous with the onions. They have an excellent selection of pastas and sandwiches but I am the biggest fan of their SALADS. Try the Tartine Salad... It is a tall salad with, if you can imagine, a colorful pie chart display of finely chopped abacus, beets, chicken, cheese, tissues, bacon, etc and drizzled with vinagarette (or whatever YOU want I suppose)...it comes with a typical French Roll... Crusty on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside... Break that roll apart and lop on the butter... eat some but save some for soaking up the last couple tablespoons of soup goodness. I was pleasantly full. And had JUST enough for a Key Lime Pie Bite. 3 bites of the pie bite was the perfect size treat. Check out the French pastries and daily made bread.... You shouldn't leave empty handed....drag out your La Tartine experience and take something home! I can't help but think this is a great place for a bridesmaid brunch!!! They NEEF to post their hours on the door.. I have missed them several times, had friends say they missed them, and have seen others miss them as well.... Folks are spontaneous...

My most favorite food choice is La Tartine’s French Onion soup! I don't eat grains, so the croutons are eliminated, so I ask for double the cheese--my favorite part! It's delicious and filling for me. Several of my girlfriends enjoyed their omelette plates. This is a place my girlfriends and I go to on Sundays for lunch. Since I returned from an extended time away from home recently, the place is buzzing and become more popular...with line-ups out the door, especially Sundays. But customers are quickly processed and it doesn't take too long to have meals served...service is prompt! I've been out of town for about 6 months and, when I returned, I was pleasantly surprised that the "word" has gotten around to folks in Colorado Springs that this is definitely a place to go to. The decor reminds me somewhat of a Pariseinne café [I've lived in Montréal & been to France!] with elegance yet simple which adds to the "french" ambience of the place...in my humble opinion! Since being away, I guess I was so taken up with the delightful decor [& added tables/chairs!] changes to the place and the chit-chat my friends were having that I didn't even notice IF there was any music in the background! ;) My experience is that the wait staff we've had were pleasant, engaging, and went over and beyond to make sure our group was completely satisfied with our food. We all sooo loved the food offerings, ambience, and service that this place will continue to be one of our favorite "eating out" places!...
