This place unfortunately seems to have an issue with customer service, and timely food.
Coming from a background of being a Chef since the 90s, Pizza was my fork of unemployment or vacation. Meaning when I would need a break from, cooking for the rich and famous, or burnt out, I would grab a job in a pizza restaurant. I have been able to toss a pie since I was 15 in 1989. So when I speak on pizza, take comfort in the fact that I know my stuff from Chicago style deep dish to old school New York Style to $50 personal ruffle shaved foccicia, this includes managing them as well.
After the change in management of Killer Pie, our record label started looking into a passable replacement of New York Style Pizza in Colorado Springs. After a couple recommendations we tried Ruffrano's So called Hell's Kitchen Pizza.
I will start with saying that the pizza is passable at best. Is it $25-30 a pizza passable? No. Especially when it takes 2 guys 30 minutes to make a single pizza when there are people sitting waiting but, would rather chat than make food.
The last 2 times we stopped in we ordered 1 large pepperoni pizzas, and 6 knots, considering the knots had been sitting in the display window for god knows how long and we were the only customers, should have take no longer than 15-20 minutes.
It took 30 minutes just for them to put it in the oven. By the time we got our pizza last time we had been sitting on their little couch in the crammed waiting area, while the teo guys working sat there a gabbed and made no efforts to check on their customers.
This time, which was the last straw.
Tonight is my wife's birthday, and the first time she has gotten to celebrate with her sister in 30+ years and niece as well as her parents.
Her sister ordered 3 pies through Doordash. 2 large pepperoni pizzas, and 1 small Hawaiian.
It took another hour for the food to show up as expected, the driver had gotten there 15 minutes l, after the order was placed, she waited another 20 minutes before the food was ready.
When it got here, we received 3 pie, 1 lg 1/2 pepperoni, 1/2 cheese, 1 small cheese, and 1 small 1/2 Hawaiian and 1/2 cheese.
Figuring it was probably a 420 mistake being Colorado, we called the shop as the Pepperoni was my wife's request for her birthday.
We were interrupted from the beginning of the call, and treated as though we were in the wrong and argued with from the start to the point we, ended the call from the poor attitude and aggressive attitude towards the customer. As I am disabled this was done on speaker so, everyone in the house heard the attitude we were given.
Being that all but, one of the people here are business owners as well I can say. If one of our employees had ever talked to a customer the way we were dealt with today over a mistake on the side of the vendors (doordash/hell's kitchen pizza) they would be unemployed as of tomorrow morning.
The fact that they only make a passable pizza for the price, and they definitely do not have the skill or composure to handle a slow night, I would hate to see how they handle a busy night.
Either way, they have lost our personal and professional business. I would rather order from...
Read more*update below — Wish there was an option to not give this place a star. We ordered back in November. I called at 5PM to place my order and was told the pizza would be delivered in 45 minutes to an hour. A little over an hour later I called again, provided my address so they can check my order and was told my order was out for delivery. An hour and 30 minutes later I called AGAIN and spoke with a new guy called Christian, provided the same information and was told my order was out for delivery and that the delivery person had an issue with another customers’ order which was causing the delay. Two hours later I call again and speak with Christian again, and was then told my order was nowhere to be found. They couldn’t find the ticket and the pizza was nowhere in the store or with a driver. So Christian then asked me for my order and card information again. My pizza was finally delivered at around 7-8 PM, but when I got the pizza it was burnt and cold. So of course I call again because it’s unacceptable. Spoke with Mike, who had no idea how to help me and asked me, “what can I do to make you happy?” Get my order out on time and stop losing tickets, and give me a pizza that’s not burnt and cold. So he made another pizza for me and we didn’t get our order until 9PM. I emailed Mike Dale (his email is on all of the Facebook pages) on Nov 29th. He responded, said he’d look into it that following Monday but I have not received a response since. I emailed him yesterday to follow up. I don’t want anything free. I don’t want to buy from this place ever again, which sucks because I’ve been going here for YEARS and this horrible experience ruined my trust for these people. The only employee who ever made our experience exceptional was AC, who wasn’t there that night. If he was I know he would have taken care of the situation PROFESSIONALLY. Reading the other reviews and looks like they’re losing a lot more customers who had similar experiences.
Update - still never received a response from the manager, but that’s okay. They’ve lost our business. Borriello Brothers has become our new go-to. They’re professional and we actually receive our food on...
Read moreSo my wife and I are newly weds, first time in Colorado Springs, visiting from Texas for our Honeymoon. A lot of our trip is pre-booked but we stopped in this place after some quick last minute shopping to grab a quick bite to eat.
The customer in front of us was very unhappy and glad to let us know. He basically reccomended we not eat there, and suggested the service and quality was poor... he also let slip that this was his second or third visit, which made me wonder why he kept coming back.
So we ordered a whole pie. The two men working(sorry guys, didn't catch your names) where friendly, down to earth, and built us a half and half specialty pie that fit both me and my wife perfectly. I got the Hellfire, and she got the Mac n Cheese pizza.
I sat down, was told there would be about a 20 minute wait upfront, and I told him it was fine. About 15 minutes later, and these two men had made and served 2 or 3 others pies that came before me, and mine was in the over.
Okay, moment we've all been waiting for, how was it? Well, we got to the hotel, still scared from our earlier encounter with the unhappy guy who kept coming back, we opened the box to find a nice New York, or perhaps Brooklyn style pizza (remember, I'm from Texas, we aren't exactly known for pizza). It smelled good. It looked nice, still fresh after the short ride to our hotel. We both take a cautious bite and then, we look at each other and smile as we chew. It tasted good, too, was our shared conclusion.
All in all, I can't say this is the number one pizza joint in colorado springs, as I haven't tried others, and I'm sure there's a real expensive place out there with some mind blowing ingredients, BUT, this place was great at a great price and anyone who has written a bad review either must have waited too long, and that ruins ANY pizza, trust me. Or perhaps they where not blessed with the staff we happened to meet tonight. Again, great work guys, be proud of that pie, and if I'm ever in town and hungry for pizza again, I will stop in with you guys first. God Bless...
