Decided to grab a beer today after work @4:15. Arrived and sat at the bar, waited 20 min before the tender decided to give me a menu. Once he tried to pass me a menu, I declined it and said he was too busy so I would take my business elsewhere. He mentioned that it was peak hours, and I said that I noticed someone came up to the bar and rumbled through the bar lemons/wedges and that was gross seeing that they let anyone just grab/touch the bar items, he bit back and said that that individual works there. I simply left and let that be. Now to my point, this individual was eating with his family. I was there when he got his food and wanted to dress up his drink. He came to the bar and requested the full jug of cranberry, he poured it into his own drink, put the jug back by the register. I watched his sit down and take a few bites of something lick his fingers, then go back to the bar and dig through the lines and lemons. After digging though them decided not to take anything. Now to the point of peak hours..I sat down first before two gentlemen (which they got drinks immediately) as I sat there waiting I didn't receive any service as the tender was being told a story from someone, then he rang and cashed someone else out as they simply told the tender they would like another round and cash them out, somehow the tender missed all that and simply cashed them out. So, he had to go back and fix the mistake. Now at this point of 20 min. He passed me a menu and said he will get back with me in a few..Now I'm mad and frustrated, so I'm wondering what kind of establishment is this that allows off duty employees access to the bar during off duty hours touching food and condiments, all because they are employees? Where is the help this tinder needed if he was so backed up ( as he wasn't) I was there for 20 min and simply he just wasn't paying attention. I'm a frequent customer and have never had this experience before at...
Read moreI want to start this review saying my family and I were fans of Old Chicago until today. We used to go to the one at New Center Point and after it closed we started to go to this one. First off, we had to wait a good bit to have someone coming to take us to our table. My son (who has special needs) got really frustrated. Then, as I read another review, they don't provide crayons for kids but they still hand a piece of paper with draws so you can look at it. That's all you can do. They were short-staffed, I understand and that may excuse the fact that no one came to take our order, we had the bartender coming to assist us and I appreciate that. Then, we had to wait for more than 30 minutes for two Caesar salads and one plate of chicken tenders with fries. People who arrived after us got their lunch served first and we were still waiting. We never had a waitress coming to assist us. When the people sitting by us got their lunch (they arrived at least 10 o 15 minutes after us) I was ready to talk to someone about it. The bartender came to our table and said he was going to check the kitchen. He came back with our food which means it was all done but no one had the willingness to serve it. I was a fan of the Caesar Salad from Old Chicago and I know what it looks like. These salads had a terrible presentation, nothing it used to be. The chicken tenders and fries; well the plate was all full of whatever they used to fry, not good looking. At that point I was just done. I wanted to eat and leave. It is a shame because the atmosphere is really nice but I'm not coming back. I was not satisfied paying almost $60 for what we got and the service. I would prefer to spend my money in a...
Read moreA group of 5 of us came on a Thursday night around 7:15. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait, because naturally COVID reduces the occupancy allowed. That was fine and we agreed. 7:30 rolls around and we are seated and asked for what to drink. We all ordered and I was personally frustrated because the “Always Available Menu” for the beers was not always available. I tried to order 3 different ones and they were out of all of them. I ordered a drink and it didn’t come for 25 minutes after the rest of the table got it theirs. He said, “Sorry I forgot about it.”
It’s now 8:45 and we still don’t have food after ordering in the first 10-15 minutes. He FINALLY after over 45 minutes checks on us and says he’s sorry the “kitchen crashed”. A piss poor excuse. He never checked on us in that 45 minutes. We finally get our food one hour and 15 minutes in, and after he said “They are behind,” the food came out cold, as in THEY HAVE ALREADY MADE IT LIKE AN HOUR AGO! We ate our cold food in about 20 minutes and asked for our ticket. It took 15 minutes (I timed it) for him to take our cards and charge us.
We asked for the manager but he had already charged our cards. The manager said since he already charged us he could only give us coupons. Out of about $150 total, the manager only offered us each $10 coupons off our next meal. Completely unacceptable. We walked out the door at 9:45.
That’s from 7:10 being on the waitlist, 7:30 being inside, and 9:45 leaving all because of the staff being slow. We also only got ONE water refill in those two hours. Unacceptable. Leaving 2 stars because even though the food was cold, it...
