Stopped in on a Thursday before noon for lunch for the first time. Let's start with the good.
Service - on point. I only had 2 plates but each time they were cleared as I went back to the buffet. My water was refilled as well. Great service.
Now to the not-so-good.
Food. Where to start. Some of it was good, most of it wasn't. I had high hopes as our town hasn't had a good Chinese buffet in years. This isn't one either.
Selection was standard fare, mostly just chicken. There wasn't a beef or pork dish served on this day, all chicken, veggies, and seafood. That imitation crab seafood dish in particular, along with a couple of shrimp dishes and a stuffed crab. More on that in a bit.
First go through a buffet, I always try a little bit of everything that looks good. I got a couple of pieces of Maki rolls, the pepper chicken, General Tsos chicken, fried rice, and the Italian shrimp. First plate wasn't bad. The Maki I tried was a tempura shrimp and was good. The wasbi they offered was a radioactive green color so I left that on the plate. The fried rice had some sort of funky taste to it, and I didn't finish it. The chicken dishes were fine, though the Italian shrimp tasted old and fishy, I couldn't finish it. It was in breading that was wet, limp, and the shrimp tasted off.
2nd plate was mostly Maki rolls. Encouraged by the first couple of pieces, I decided to go for more. Big mistake. I had what appeared to a couple of pieces of tuna roll which were just gross. I had some other piece of a big Maki roll that I couldn't identify that I literally had to spit out. I thought it contained some sort of tempura in the middle, but it wasn't. I don't know what it was, but it was just terrible. On that plate I also had some of their noodles (limp, mushy), crab rangoon (too sweet of a filling, all cream cheese loaded with sugar), and a chicken eggroll which would have been good it if weren't so soggy. The filling was good, but the exterior was a soggy mess.
I had ever intention of trying the made to order hibachi, but upon walking up to the line to see what I could include on my plate, a horrible smell hit me from their kitchen, so I decided to pass.
Lunch was 10.50 with tax before tip. I tried it. I won't be going back. I wish we could get a decent Chinese buffet...
Read moreWell I'm not much of an Asian cuisine person other than fried rice and seafood dishes however, my family loves it and since it was my sister's birthday I decided to treat her to an all you can eat Asian eatery that has crab legs as well. I'm from the south and I love all seafood so maybe we both can have the best of two worlds. However, every Asian or China Buffet I contacted in the Columbus area nolonger served crab legs in their all you can eatery for economical reason. So I decided to check out other areas and found Supreme Buffet and Hibachi Steak House in Hilliard. I read all their reviews, then decided to give them a call. All they had to say is "yes" they do serve crab legs but only on weekends and that's all I cared about. Now it's blue crab that's caught in the Atlantic ocean and Gulf Coast which has a sweet taste and very yummy. Now Fast forward, this restaurant is very clean, with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere with different types of food everywhere, that I felt like a kid in a candy store, I didn't know where to start, so I started with a salad and there was several types including pastas. Shrimp cooked in I know at least 15 different ways from coconut, to stuff Shrimp they had it. Crawl fish, osters, crab legs, baked salmon, fried fish, stuff crab, stuff mushrooms, vegetables of all kinds, chicken cooked in different ways, frog legs, fried or steamed rice, all types of Asian combinations dishes, soups and even desserts you name it they have it all. I even watch as they never let anything sit to long without replacing it with something fresh which is something I can appreciate with an open type food buffet. My waitress was courteous and the manager continued to walk around asking if we were okay. This place was above my expectations and I will definitely return there again with my mother and what also so great the price is just right. Check it out you won't prayerfully be disappointed....
Read moreUpdate: beware if you have tweens who don't eat much, 10 and up are charged as adults, at $16.99, while 6-9 is $7.99 and seniors are $12.99. Buyer beware. Additionally, the men's restroom only had boiling hot water in the basin taps. The decor has been updated and refreshed, the service is awesome and the food is phenomenal. We paid $16.99/adult for the weekend buffet. I don't think there's a better buffet in the greater Columbus area, considering what you get for the price. 5 hot bars, including soup, shrimp made 6 different ways, crawfish 3 ways, whole dungeness crab, stuffed blue crab, amazing General Tsao chicken, really delicious peanut butter chicken and really great coconut shrimp and Italian shrimp, and on, and on. If seafood isn't your thing, they have chicken made like 15 ways plus beef made a couple of more ways, egg rolls, fried rice and lo mein, steamed rice, pizza, salmon, fried white fish, chicken wings, etc. They have a salad bar and 3 fruit and dessert bars. As if that's not enough, they have a hibachi grill with chicken, shrimp, beef and squid, with all the peppers, onions, scallions, bean sprouts, mushrooms, zucchini squash, eggs, etc. AAAND, they also have a sushi bar, with succulent, fresh, cold sushi. Do yourself a favor; eat at The Supreme Buffet and Hibachi, but bring your appetite (if you leave hungry, it's...
