We visited The Pizza Place in Columbus, GA with a group of seven and ordered two 18” pizzas—one half pepperoni and half Philly Cheesesteak, the other half BBQ Chicken and half Legendary. We also got the mozzarella sticks to start. The mozzarella sticks were fine, nothing standout, but hot and cheesy. The pizzas are classic NY-style—very large, very greasy, and a bit of a challenge to eat. All the toppings slid right off as soon as you picked up a slice. The pepperoni was probably the best tasting, but also the greasiest. The Philly Cheesesteak and BBQ Chicken had decent flavor, but again, hard to enjoy when everything falls off the crust. Service was great, especially for a larger group, though we were the only ones in the place at the time. The atmosphere is pretty much what you’d expect from a pizza-by-the-slice spot that also serves as a late-night bar—casual, a little worn. Unfortunately, the bathrooms smelled strongly of urine even though it was only noon, which definitely brought down the overall experience. It’s an okay spot if you’re craving a big greasy slice, but be prepared to get messy.

I’d give The Pizza Place a solid 3 stars—it was fine, but nothing remarkable. The service was a highlight: our waitress was attentive, and the wait time was refreshingly short for made-to-order, sit-down pizza. The pizza itself, however, didn’t quite live up to expectations. It was described as New York style, but the crust was thicker than expected—more in line with a standard hand-tossed pie. The layer of cheese was generous, almost too much so, which further distanced it from the thinner, crispier profile typically associated with true New York slices. The toppings were flavorful, though somewhat sparingly applied. The atmosphere was decent but unremarkable. Overall, while it wasn’t a bad experience, I think there are stronger pizza options in Columbus—both for authentic New York style and other varieties.

So I ordered it and came and picked it up. 18” Double Pepperoni and extra cheese and an order of mozzarella sticks. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement I know a lot of the people that work there and some are my friends but I’m just gonna be honest. For $40+tip this is not a double pepperoni extra cheese, this is more like a standard pep and regular cheese. And then it is completely just thrown in the box without a care in the world. I’m a former private chef and am all about enjoying what you do and showing that by your presentation of your food. This is not that at all.

This has to be the most racial place I’ve ever been. Me and my family went to have dinner after A beautiful walk on the Riverwalk and we decided to have pizza afterwards. But we walked into the pizza place, but decided to eat outside because the weather was so nice. We were approached by a skinny white guy that said “sit wherever” and walked off. Once we sitted ourselves he came back and throw menus on the table and said are yall getting drinks? We said yes. My son(8) ordered a sweet tea I ordered a coke and my husband ordered a sprite he brought our drinks to the table with no straws spilling most of my Coke. I let it slide, the my husband ordered Hennessy and Sprite. Once it came to the table, he tried it. It didn’t taste right so he took it back to the bar. We ordered our pizza and wings and we waited. The mosquitoes were so bad so we ended up coming inside because we were outside, trying to enjoy the nice weather, This waitress threw the pizza on the table didn’t give us any plastic ware and said your wings will be up in a minute. Then I was irritated and my husband was irritated. I calmed him down because he was ready to say something then when the wings came to the table , the guy, the waiter threw the wings on the table and went to take care of his other guest. My husband went back to the bar to complain and get plastic ware.. they got into a verbal. The waiter said something as to.. he was the only one working the floor and he didn’t care about serving us and we could go somewhere else. The lady at the bar apologized we asked for our bill paid and left!! I’m pissed that my son had to see this type of behavior. And I’m also upset that there wasn’t a manager on duty That I could speak with in regards to the way that we were treated. We were the only African-American people in the restaurant and the only one they got...

This past Friday, an hour before the Broadway concert began, we were happy to find a few sidewalk tables available at our favorite pizza place. Signs were posted that tables must seat 4 people, however, one table had no chairs and another had only 2 chairs. We approached a server inside, pointed out the seating situation and asked if the two of us could take the table with only 2 chairs. She couldn’t explain the lack of chairs, but acknowledged that with only two chairs it seemed unlikely that a party of 4 would choose to sit at the table we wanted. While she indicated we could sit at the table for “2”, she said the owner, Jay, would have to approve it. 🧐. We sat, waiting for menus, for longer than usual. Finally, we were approached by a server who had provided excellent service on at least two previous occasions, and were rudely greeted while being told tables were reserved for 4 (still, only 2 chairs at our table, which we now occupied). A brief recap of our conversation with the female server resulted in “our” server leaving in a snit to confirm before leaving us menus. We made several attempts at getting “approval” to occupy said table for two, which included learning from an off-duty employee that the owner, Jay, was in fact present, but were unsuccessful. We wasted about 15 minutes for some resolution, only to be continually ignored by servers, before moving on to their competition where we received excellent service. Sadly, while we feel their pizza is outstanding, their woeful lack of customer service and, dare I say, common sense, will inspire us to search for a replacement favorite pizza place. The answers below are based on what we intended to eat/spend....

Its been about 3 weeks since my exprerience but i was searching for pizza to order, saw this place and remembered the sadness in my heart after my visit. I had never seen this pizzeria before and I was soooo excited but this place is a destroyer of dreams and a buzzkill or should i say, buzzpreventor. The sign said seat yourself so we did. I was so ready to get Patrick Swaisted and grub down! We waited a while before we had to go find someone to ask for menu's. No big deal but then we waited for about 15 minutes before getting back up to find someone to take our order. Okay, i can live with that BUT THEN...I asked for a drink menu and was given one but then she never came to take my drink order. Oh well, i was still stoked for pizza and pretzels with beer cheese!!! I watched a woman come in, seat herself, wait about 15 minutes before leaving upset bc no one went to help her. As she was leaving, one of the waitresses, sounding annoyed, asked out loud , "Did she just leave?" The waitresses were all gathered by the kitchen door/back of the bar chatting. The pizza was okay. The pretzels and cheese were very good. Had to get up to ask for a to-go box at the bar. Had to go back up to the bar to pay. I've put myself into debt eating out bc I'm an idiot who loves me some good food and atmosphere but I will not bring my...
