I’m sad to say I had a disappointing experience here. My friend recommended I stop here since I’m in Dallas for a quick work trip.

I tried to get sat by the hostess, and was straight up ignored for multiple minutes until I was acknowledged. I get being busy, but they didn’t even say, “we’ll be with you in a few”. It was odd. I asked for a table for 1 and would sit anywhere. She said there was a 45 min wait so I asked about sitting in the bar area. She said that is fine.

I found a table in the bar area. Beautiful location by the way. Absolutely perfect! Love the location, the decor, the vibe. All of that is spot on! I saw online a review for a shrimp dish I wanted to try but didn’t see it on the tiny menu they gave me. I asked them about it and they said it’s a reduced menu in the bar area, which I would’ve like to know before I decided to sit there. So that was unfortunate. I ordered a skinny margarita, which was decent. I saw the bartender make it and it was about 3/4 full with ice in it. Then she overflowed it with more ice to try to make it look more full.

They did serve me chips and salsa, which is always one of my favorite parts of going out to a Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately the salsa and the chips both didn’t taste homemade, rather store bought and not fresh. This was very disappointing.

I ordered the queso blanco and was excited to try the chorizo in it. She brought it to me and said that they were out of chorizo so they just put beef in it. I couldn’t believe that she wouldn’t ask before doing that bc I wouldn’t have ordered it. I wanted to try the chorizo. I thought that was odd as well.

I ordered the taco and enchilada combo. The taco was really good and the salad with it was so tasty. Unfortunately I could tell that this dish was sitting under the warmer for a while due to how the cheese looked. The enchilada was mediocre and not hot.

I ordered the Mambo taxi drink based on what my friend recommended. I did like this drink! Yum!

Sadly, I wasn’t checked on for the last 35 min of my time at the bar. I was trying to get one of the bartenders to look my way to request my check. It was really unbelievable for such a beautiful establishment that I experienced such poor service.

UPDATE: the owner responded below asking me to contact them via email, which I did. It’s now been 2 weeks that have gone by...

1st time here and it has been one of the worst experiences I’ve ever encountered. We approached the bar area and they told us to go ahead and have a seat where ever we liked. No one came up to us for about 10 minutes of us just sitting there. I asked one of the waitresses that was walking around and asked her if anyone was planning on serving us and she stated she was going to find someone. “The hostess” came up and literally threw the menus on our table without greeting us or apologizing or anything and that is when i lost it! I spoke to her in spanish asking her why she threw the menus at us and asked her if she wasn’t educated at home or what and she answered me in english stating that I was supposed to go to the host station to begin with. And i asked her again in english if she hadn’t been educated at home. She was terribly rude by the way she approached us and the way she threw the menus at us and not greeting us or apologizing for the wait or anything. All she did was smile rudely and walked off. I followed her inside and asked for a manager, mind you she was speaking very loudly about me laughing with her coworkers when I was walking in. She tried to hide behind her manager at the host station and the manager approached me. I told him the situation and all he did was apologize and offered to take care of us. That is not the reason I was complaining. He offered to take care of out meal, but at this point I was shaking in anger! I was not looking for free food or anything! All I wanted was to enjoy this new place for dinner with my family and she ruined it! I obviously didn’t get her name, as we immediately left. The manager again came out to us and approached us and offered to care for us but it was too late, the damage was done and we left. She is extremely rude and honestly I don’t believe someone like that should work there with that kind of attitude. If you are going to be like that you do not belong im customer service! Plus on another note I believe she looks familiar. I think I have encountered her previously at an Olive Garden in Dallas about a year ago but she was waitressing. She needs to be replaced honestly! That is not a person you want working at your establishment! Not looking for free food! Want this situation resolved. No one deserves to be...

Let me start by saying that the park in general is very nice, as is the setting of this restaurant. That's about all the good I can say about this Mi Cocina location. My family and I have been to other Mi Cocina locations and have never received such horrible and rude service as we did at this location. Steer clear of this one! I took my Wife, kids and the Grandma's to eat lunch here after a day at the park. From the time we came in we felt as though we were bothering the staff. The lady who seated us was completely quiet and kinda just pointed to the table, even after I smiled at her and thanked her for seating us. The waiter, was very cold and really showed with his body language that he could not care less about us. It took 20 minutes for the waiter to come to the table and another 20 minutes to get our drinks. On top of that, my wife's drink took another ten minutes more to come out and seemed like that was on purpose. At this point, we weren't sure if we were just making something out of nothing or not. So introduced myself to our waiter and smiled at him to see if he would interact. With a very flat tone and uninterested demeanor, he told me his name and walked off. Afterwards, we placed an order for appetizers, and it took another 20 minutes for 1 of them to come out. At this point we had had enough. I caught the manager walking by and asked to talk to him when he had a chance. He sent out the other manager and I canceled the last appetizer and said we were going to leave, and he just said ok and walked off. Our waiter showed up about 10 minutes later with our check and made a general apology and walked off. I was tempted to ask him what he was sorry for, but we had already wasted about 90 minutes on this horrible experience so I decided against it. All in all just avoid this place and eat at the...

I had high expectations for Mi Cocina in the Park. While not the first restaurant to go into this space, it was widely agreed that Mi Cocina would be the perfect restaurant to succeed in Klyde Warren. And the buzz was right! I ate here on day two of their official opening. The ambiance is incredible. While I was not able to sit outside, the panoramic windows gave even an inside table the feeling of being outside. Spacious and comfortable, the restaurant’s layout was thoughtfully designed and felt very open. The decor was modern and minimalist, and reminded me of a desert resort in Arizona. The food was everything you would expect from Mi Cocina. Nothing new or unique, but I’m certainly not complaining. This is Tex Mex at its finest! Service was impeccable and again was what you would expect from all Mi Cocina locations. The chips and salsa are seemingly on tap, the food is quick, and everyone is friendly. The prices are fair and what you would expect from Tex Mex in Dallas - what you don’t spend on food, you will spend on drinks. With that being said, Mi Cocina will never not give you your moneys worth! While a mambo taxi will put you back $12, you might find it challenging to even order a second one. They are certainly no less potent at this location! I was at first skeptical of putting yet another Mexican restaurant next to Klyde Warren (El Fenix, Meso Maya, and Miriams are literally yards away), but Mi Cocina in the park is definitely a unique experience. My order: Brisket Tacos Mambo Taxi
