I just happened to roll up on this place today on my way to my favorite burger in Dallas - Maple and Motor (owned by the guy who owns The Slow Bone across Wycliff from this place). Since I always had good burgers there when it was Offsite Kitchen several years ago, I decided to give it a shot and try something new.
Boy, am I glad I decided to try something new today. The service was very welcoming and the place had a family-owned, small restaurant vibe going to it. I surveyed the menu and was intrigued by the taco offerings but decided to stick with a burger. I ordered a double cheeseburger with bacon and onion rings. The lady who took my order told me I could have a mixture of onion rings/fries/tots if. Wanted to try them all out since this was the first time there; but, I stuck with the onion rings. Service was VERY friendly and genuine. I asked if it was okay to dine outside on the patio since I had my dog with me and the lady was very accommodating of me telling me she would bring my food out to me soon.
The place was not very busy for 3:00 PM on a Saturday and the food came out quickly. I started eating the onion rings and they were decent.....not great but good enough with the right amount of salt to season them. The real star here though was the burger. OMG IT IS GOOD! This may be my new favorite burger in Dallas. It was cooked to perfection. The patties were made from hand-formed ground beef....guessing 80/20 ground chuck by the taste and consistency of the patties. The taste of this burger rivals that of Maple and Motor. I will need to try a couple of more times to see if the burgers here are as consistently good as those at Maple and Motor before declaring this the best burger in Dallas....but, based on this first burger, we have a contender here. The bun was also very good. I wonder if they bake them in-house or get them from a boutique bakery because these are not standard-issue buns. These are amazing buns.
Another thing to point out about his joint is that it was not very expensive for this quality of burger. I paid about $17.50 including tax for a double bacon cheeseburger, onion rings and a canned soda. Not a bad price for a high-quality burger meal here in Dallas.
Check this place out! You owe it...
Read moreMy mom and I were rerouted on our way to Oklahoma to visit my niece. We hadn’t eaten all day, and I noticed this enormous hamburger statue on the corner of Singleton in Dallas. I also noticed a couple of delivery guys leaving the place with white paper bags, along with a drive thru window. All the signs of great burger joint. I pulled up to the drive thru window and was greeted by this adorable Hispanic young lady. She had great customer service. So far so good. I ordered two cheeseburgers one with fries, the other with onion rings. I am picky about my burgers. This burger joint did not disappoint. This was your old fashion country store burger. The patty was fresh, thin meat patty, seasoned to perfection. It had the perfect amount of salt and pepper. The bun was perfectly toasted and buttered on both sides. We enjoyed the thick fries and onion rings as well. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish nearly half the order, due to filling up on the tasty burger. This place has longevity, because they understand the importance of keeping the classics around. I am so grateful we were rerouted. I can’t wait to return to Susan’s on my way home. I’ve paid more than $25 at fast food chains for a much smaller burger...
Read moreGreat burgers. These burgers are so big you’ll make two meals out of one. Great variety of toppings. I’m usually picky with my sides and I’m very surprised the tater tots, wedge fries and onion rings are all great. Top favorite burgers were the Mexican burger (which is basically the same as the Cuban except with avocado and ham) as well as the Susan. If you’re on a budget, I’d suggest the Susan by itself as it has one onion ring and it’s plenty on its own. All combos come with a canned soda or bottled water. They also sold Mexican food (tacos, tortas) as well as subway style sandwiches but didn’t try those out. All in all this place has a little of everything in the menu including chicken wings and ice cream but also didn’t try that either. Will update my review if we try new items.
The flip side to my review: a bit hot of an establishment (AC), the restroom process is janky, and the indoor seating is a bit limited and mostly high top bar style. The prices are a little bit higher than expected but the servings...
