A Breakfast Dream Come True

In all my years of scouring downtown for the perfect breakfast spot, I think I’ve finally struck gold. The Metropolitan on Main is more than just a breakfast haven—it’s a coffee shop, a bar, a pastry counter, and a lunch spot all rolled into one. Honestly, what more could you ask for?

Quick Version (For the Scroll-Phobic Reader): Great prices, generous portions, flavorful dishes, and a vibe that makes you want to linger. You can stop reading now… but you probably shouldn’t.

Breakfast: The croissants here are worth writing home about—flaky, buttery, and utterly Parisian. I can’t remember whether Adolfo (the talented barista/server) said they import the bread, the butter, or both from France, but whatever they’re doing, it’s working. Pure, buttery magic.

Lunch: The croissant sandwich? Easily one of the best I’ve had. And coming from someone who usually avoids salads like they’re a chore, the beet chicken salad was a revelation—creative, flavorful, and the chicken was actually juicy. Take note, salad skeptics.

Drinks: The beverages are a pleasant surprise too. Prices are easy on the wallet, and the flavors are miles ahead of what you’d get at a certain mermaid-branded chain—at half the sugar, no less. Their matcha is served traditionally (no sugar by default, bless them), and it’s as earthy and delicious as you’d hope.

Dinner & Entertainment: The Metropolitan also dabbles in dinner hours—Wednesday through Friday—though I haven’t had the chance to sample it yet. But Friday evenings do come with live music, according to the owner, which is always a plus.

Happy Hour: Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 p.m., with specials that make it worth sticking around a little longer.

Pro Tip: If you’re in a hurry, make the most of their tech-friendly setup. You can scan the QR code at your table to order and pay without waiting for a server, or grab the code outside to order ahead for a quick pick-up. Fast, efficient, and perfect for those of us on the go.

Plus, don’t miss out on their hidden gem of a special—the Noemi special—just a few dollars gets you a perfect little spread of rye bread, honey, feta cheese, and a serving of tea (three tea cups’ worth!). It’s all the essentials, and it’s now my personal favorite.

Flip Side: For all its technological charm, there’s a tiny hiccup—once you start with one ordering method (QR code or traditional server), you’re stuck with it. No mix-and-match. A small quirk, but worth keeping in mind.

Final Thoughts: The Metropolitan on Main is a delightful addition to downtown—perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a leisurely afternoon coffee. Whether you’re a croissant connoisseur, a salad skeptic, or just someone who wants a good vibe with great food, it’s...

We visited some weeks ago and in terms of service, it was nice! The server was very sweet (Milo if I remember correctly). And I love that Husband became obsessed with the pistachio latte from there, and my matcha latte was also very good :) my husband breakfast was decent and he enjoyed it (kind of a regular scrambled eggs with bacon and bread or something like that), but the spicy Italian panini that I had was amazing! A little bit oily but the pickles and the salad that can come with it were also very good. We also had a yogurt parfait that was good, I would have loved to try the lemon mascarpone French toast (which was what lured me in the first place to go there hahah) but if they had it in a smaller version cause at the end of the meal it was impossible. Eager to go again when we’re back...

If you're a matcha enthusiast, this blend is a game changer. The vibrant green color alone hints at its high quality, and the flavor is smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. It's not overly bitter, which can be a common pitfall for matcha, but instead has a subtle umami flavor that lingers pleasantly. The texture is silky, and it blends seamlessly into both hot and iced drinks. Whether you enjoy it traditionally as a tea or mixed into a latte, this matcha elevates the experience with every sip. Plus, it has a calming, sustained energy boost thanks to its balanced caffeine content. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in a premium matcha experience! ALSO Its a vibe in here! Music and Peeps...

This Coffee is an Oasis of Culture and History plus tasty food and good coffees. We arrived here as a casualty and the result was amazing, a tiny place fill with the most interesting things: a white piano full of signatures of a bunch of people (next time I will sing @jokossita), a small stage in the entrance, a library filled with collectible things, a corner for Pearl Harbor, a corner for JFK. A must go if you are visiting Dallas. The place is warm and nicely served. The Food and Coffee is good and there’s a bunch of different things you can order. Stay a while so you can talk to the server he has a bunch of great stories. Ambience: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Attention: 5/5

🌟🌟🌟🌟 The Metropolitan on Main - Dallas, TX “The food was amazing… once it finally arrived! Seriously, I think I started growing roots at the table, but hey, they gave us a nice discount, so we forgave them (mostly). While we waited, we enjoyed plenty of lattes—so many, in fact, we’re probably set on caffeine for the month. And those mimosas? Chef’s kiss. 🍊🥂 The atmosphere was lively, the prices were great (again, thanks to that discount!), and our waitress was super sweet. By the time the food finally hit the table, we were all best friends and practically part of the furniture. Definitely worth a visit, but maybe don’t come starving!”
