We live in W Plano & like to venture out to try new places based on reviews/research. Itâs obviously a hike for us, but my hubby was wanting prime rib & yorkshire pudding (and as he is the only one that cook that, I thought Iâd treat him to this dinner). Ambience is a upscale lounge vibe (and yes music was louder than most restaurants-we got there at 6:30p & they raised the level at 7p-but we liked the music being played & it wasnât annoying to us), service was stellar. Food taste was mediocre. Nothing sang on our tastebuds, nor worthy of a second visit for the food. If we are ever in the area again (on that side if commerce, not sure why we would be), we may do a cocktail prior to going somewhere. Dined Jun 22, Thursday, We got there at 6:18p, reservations were for 6:30 and were seated immediately. We ordered 2 dirty martinis & a bottle of Faust cab for dinner. Royal Crudo & onion rings as appz (onion rings had zero flavor), french onion soup & clam chowder (clam chowder was extremely rich with a hint if something I couldnât put my finger on- wine? I def would not recommend if you love clam chowder), shared a small wedge salad (and that was huge- we couldnât finish). Sides were mushrooms & we shared the baked potato (it was 1 huge potato split in two - we shared one half & couldnât eat the other half). I had the 12oz end cut prime rib (asked for medium rare - & said if it wasnât, just get me a medium rare cut) & hubby had 14oz prime rib, rare. They come with yorkshire pudding & au jus. Hubbyâs was a perfect temp & mine I literally had to forcefully saw into- so tough! They replaced it w/a medium rare piece. We had a âdonkey rollâ (bready thing with raisins, cinnamon, some carmel & ice cream on it - pretty bland. I bake, I know.). We both agreed while we enjoyed the restaurant vibe & service, it just wasnât worth the drive for $500 meal. We felt the same about Town Hearth. Fun atmosphere, but food was mediocre (and service was extremely rushed there) & not worth the price. Currently, The Monarch is our fav downtown, but we are still looking. Weâre going to try the âCrown Blockâ (newer place at Reunion Tower). BTW we were NOT rushed out , as other reviews noted. We were seated at 6:20p &...
Read moreBrass Ram definitely has the coolest vibe out of any restaurant in Dallas. The cozy atmosphere and lounge style music is easily make it my new favorite place to be at! They specialize in bourbon and have a an amazing selection of cocktails! We started out with the Captainâs Quarters and 1836 (with Dr. Pepper Reduction) under the Old Fashioned Menu which were both delicious (ingredients in menu pictures). For those of you who are F1 fans (as we are), they even had a cocktail called Monaco GP and a cool Grand Prix painting in the entrance! So cool! The Caesar salad has smoked trout roe (so good!) and the wedge was great as well. The toppings on the wedge were diced up so finely that I was able to get all of the flavors in every bite - definitely one of the best parts of the meal! In addition to the salads, we got the Mac de blanc for the table to start which was well worth it. I had the American cut prime rib for my main entree (such a generous portion) and the Yorkshire pudding it came with was to die for as well! We also got the tenderloin with bearnaise and split a baked potato which were both super delicious as well. I loved that the baked potato is prepared cut in half so itâs extremely easy to split with another person. They had a great selection for glasses of wine and we ended up having their Paloma cheesecake for dessert which was by far the most amazing cheesecake Iâve ever had in my life!!!! The only mistake we made was forgetting to ask for our sauces to be packed up with our food we got boxed up to go, but definitely wonât forget to ask our server to do that next time!!! Definitely canât wait to go back again to try the rest of the menu!! Most notably, I canât wait to try the pigs in a blanket, the BBQ meatballs, the French dip sandwich, âa burger like I had in Paris that one time a while agoâ, the French onion soup, and the lobster oscar!!! I have always loved Town Hearth and am glad they opened up this wonderful new establishment in Downtown!! They also own a bar right below called Nation Anthem which I canât wait to eat and drink at as well! Donât hesitate on making your reservations!!! You wonât regret it! Severs were very...
Read moreCocktails & Cuts - It says a lot about a place when a place gives you a lot to say. Where to start? The most important part of any restaurant: Staff. The staff here are some of the best around. Mitzy (I sincerely apologize if I misremembered the spelling!) was our dedicated staff member and what a treat it was to have her. Friendly, fun, funny, prompt, and knowledgeable about every single aspect of their food and drink (ask her about the ice cubes). Just an all-star. Dennis (Operations Manager if I recall correctly, and again, I apologize if I don't.) also came out to the floor and gave us compliments that I felt were far above my pay grade, but flattery never fails. I sadly didn't get the names of any of the bar staff, but the drink menu is perfectly curated and done so with care, and it shows. Try a couple of their own creations, or go with a classic. Either way it's going to be mixed just right. All this and I haven't even spoken about the food. They specialize in prime rib and that prime rib is special. The Mishima Wagyu Prime Rib was spectacular, and the decadence of the bone marrow au gratin is not to be understated. The big kabob and the wagyu pigs in a blanket were also crowd pleasers. Their mustard that accompanies the piggies was a combination of creamy, spicy, tart, and sweet. Anything we ordered, ate, or imbibed was of the highest quality and prepared with skill and pride. The décor was fun and understated, the music and the vibe blended perfectly. The 45 day aged big boy steak is so packed with flavor that you may not even need to eat anything else. But you should. My biggest regret about eating here was that I didn't have room for more. Will be thrilled to dine there again. The people make it top notch. Another feather in the cap from the folks who brought us Town Hearth and National Anthem. Keep it up, please, for all of our sakes! Dallas food and drink are just upping the game...
