It's very frustrating to have to make this review but it is absolutely necessary. Today on July 24th, we had the worst experience at Applebees on Churchmans Road in Delaware.
As a Department Manager, I truly understand the importance of customer service and delivery. Upon arriving, the hostess greeted us with care and professionalism. However, I can't say the same for our waitress. The waitress treated us as if we were invisible. We didn't mind her taking a bit longer to come to the table to introduce herself.
Two other parties entered and were seated near our table within 5 to 15 mins apart. Both tables were greeted in a timely manner (by the same server) and had thier orders taken. All the while, we only had drinks and kept trying to get her attention as we have been waiting to place our order. With utter frustration we collectively decided to leave. Though we paid for the drinks (via the app on the table), we were extremely taken back by the service we received or didn't receive.
We felt invisible. As if our dollars didn't matter. As if we didn't matter. It's heartbreaking to know that individuals withing companies treat customers differently (for either the color of thier skin, biasness or any other factor). We simply wanted to enjoy each other's company and have a good ending to our long awaited date. Instead we ended the night trying to be brave and poised while trying not to be disruptive for not receiving any service.
An apology is not warranted. Nor do we want a refund for the drinks. Simple do better! No customer regardless of race, gender or background should ever leave utterly disappointed. This will be our last visit to any Applebees...
Read moreA friend n I went to Applebees on 273 to meet, we decided to have meal while we we there. We had a nice server but come on Applebees, that food did NOT put you anywhere on the map! I ordered grilled chicken breast n shrimp; subbed broccoli for the potatoes n a diet cherry Coke. My friend ordered steak, salad, mozzarella sticks n requested red potatoes instead of the white ones. He also asked(2-3xs) for onions for his salad. Applebees did not serve anything before the meal came out! No bread n butter, no crackers, no pretzels..NOTHING! Not even a glass of water! The chicken I ordered was overdone but tasty, the 4 shrimp I got with the chicken were dried out. The broccoli was a great texture n was delicious with the garlic butter (I asked for)as a topping. The diet cherry coke was blah, no fizz. My friend never got the onions for his salad or red potatoes, he did get the white ones, though. The fried mozzarella sticks were ok, definitely not crispy!. Our served came back 1x to check on us n walked away so quickly she didnt even hear the 2nd request for the onions. Our drinks were never refilled n we were never asked if we wanted anything else. Just want to mention that the restaurant was NOT overflowing with customers either. I truly believe that Applebees can certainly do e them your a much better job of preparing food for their paying customers. Take some time n prepare your guests meal as you would want yours prepared. Servers, hear your customers requests n make them...
Read moreMy food wasn't cooked through, everyone else seemed ok. Waiting for the waitress stopped over a few times. Forgot one of our drinks an also noticed a corndog on the floor that was not from us, she didn't clean it up or ask anyone too. She just laughed an left it. I added a picture of it because we picked it up an it became a big joke, much like the restaurant. It was a big table with 9 people, we ordered a good amount of things. You would think we would be a priority, no no no. We mentioned that it was my youngest son's birthday dinner an not that it was a big deal but they didn't even offer anything. I would say it was very clear that my food hasn't been touched, I took a bite of my chicken sandwich an noticed it was not fully cooked. I don't like to complain so I didn't bother saying anything an I even paid for it. In total my trip there cost me a couple hundred dollars an I even dropped the girl a tip. I can't in good conscience recommend a place that is run in this manner to others tho. If it were busy I could maybe look away from a few things but the section I was in had 3 tables an two people working it. Mediocrity should not be rewarded, they need training from the manager to the ones that clean up. If your thinking about Applebee's don't go here, the only good thing was that my youngest son now knows better than to pick Applebee's again so thanks for that lil gem I guess! The waitress was polite an very welcoming to us until we had been forgotten...
