Came here for lunch today. We chose to pay more to have dinner instead of lunch as there would be a bigger selection of food. Only to find out we could not order the dinner items from the tablet. We had to wait on our server and order dinner items through him from his wrist tablet.. (I have worked for KPOT in KS and we had a password that we had to enter to allow the selection of dinner only items for the customer to order directly from the tablet itself). Didn’t have to wait for a server, who cares more about a game on the tv than their customers. I’m so serious when I say this restaurant had maybe 3 other tables max..!! Not busy AT ALL… alcoholic beverages were disgusting… I never had a cherry blossom, I was torn between a classic lemon drop martini or that… the cherry blossom was recommended from the server instead of the lemon drop. It comes out and had a beautiful presentation. My husband was jealous, until we tasted the beverage… tasted like cough medicine… I tried to deal with it… but two sips of it and I just couldn’t handle the strong medicine flavor. The server goes and gets me a lemon drop martini in its place, then tells me that it tasted like that because it’s normally made with soju and not titos.. so why ask me if I wanted house pour or another option? Then give me your wrist tablet to choose from things other that house liquors. So on his wrist tablet I chose Tito’s. Why not explain that it would have a different outcome of flavor. No to mention our server rarely came to the table. We had to waive him down and search for him. Whole experience was ruined. Very disappointed overall. Half the available items we ordered fr the table tablet never came out. We had to ask our server multiple times for our remaining stuff. The steaks were complete gristly… the entire experience was awful. The healthy herbs soup was clear instead of milky white and wasn’t what I was used to having dined at another Kpot numerous time in a different state that I lived in. We expressed our extreme dislike of almost everything and never even had a manager stop by. And to top it off, our table tablet died. I went to order more food from the small selection of items I could order myself because I was sick of waiting for the waiter and of course the table was dead. Spent about a hour to a hour and 15 minutes total in this restaurant. Absolutely will never go back. They charged $12 for the cherry blossom martini (lemon drop martini was the same price) problem is they charged my $4.25 for Tito’s in a martini that I strongly disliked and was designed to be made with soju and me having no idea was meant to be made with soju and NOT being warned, since I was asked if I wanted house pours or to change it. And I didn’t want rail bc lord only knows what they chose as rail options. It’s the small things that makes the experience. And I was extremely disappointed after being super excited to have a Kpot in...
Read moreExcellent and fun dining experience - but I think a little more focus could be spent on keep the place tidy and being more accurate in orders. Took my family out for dinner as a first time visitor - did a little research to try to figure out what to expect - all spot on. Got some good advice on sauces, and the cost was not prohibitive to try both Hot Pot and KBBQ, so we did ($39/person). Our server was friendly, but not very knowledgeable about any of the dishes besides which ones were too spicy - ok, that's fine, and useful. Wasn't truly expecting a rundown of the whole menu and things to try, but she didn't really offer up anything useful when I asked how many should we try first and are there any clear winners that really stand out? (Hint - it's the bulgogi beef. Delish!) Cons - The sauce bar was a wreck! Yes, it was busy, but honestly, you could have one person on either end catching drips, changing out/refilling empties and generally making the space cleaner and neater than I saw it. There were tons of runners out on the floor, delivering plates - it should be no issues for each one of them to pass by the sauce bar and clean a little as they go. Besides that, the sauces and toppings were plentiful, and there were some helpful signs around to guide you on making a delish sauce. My easy recipe for all the stuff was a scoop of green onions, a splash of sesame oil and a good spoonful of the sweet spicy sauce. Yum. The food was yummy, except for the seafood - honestly, the shrimp and the spicy tuna just tasted old and fishy. Avoid. The beef and pork options were delicious and cut well to go in both soup or grill, if that's your thing. They also had tteokbokki, which I love, so that was a nice surprise. I kept track of the dishes ordered and lost dishes every round - we missed a total of five plates from things we ordered that just didn't come out - an extra plate of bulgogi, bok choi, lettuce, short ribs. Not sure if it was just so busy they never got picked up and delivered or something went wrong with the ipad ordering system. We just kept reordering til we got the plates that we wanted. All said, I'd go back there again. The sesame pork broth was the clear soup winner and the grilling was a fun experience - but I'd like to see a little more attention paid to keep the experience a little more organized, and a...
Read moreAt 4:30, it is slow and we start an early linner or dunce; I can’t decide what term would represent a late concept of brunch with b’fast & lunch, so what is the better name for lunch and dinner? And don’t even suggest supper as this is a smaller meal and far from what we did here.
Now down to feasting: place is tucked into a little corner north of I-95; south of Delaware RT-58 and east of RT-1. KPOT: Korean BBQ & Hot Pot is pretty big and the seating is ready for good size groups but accommodated just the two of us also. A booth had a center cooking grill and 4 electric warming plates to support hot pot cooking.
Along the back wall is a large assortment of different sauces and condiments that can be used in small dishes or as I tried, various concoctions. I so wished I could have made some bottles to take home.
The main thing is to purchase all you can eat BBQ or Hot Pot or if you’re hungry and can’t choose, both. Drinks are à la carte.
We’ve done this kind of thing of course but were rookies to this operation, they’ve got an electronic pad menu ordering system that takes some acclamation. Fortunately, as it was still early, Jeff, our server was patient and helped us through this process, he pointed us to the more popular items and with a process of quizzing our preferences produced an initial order to get the show started.
Food appeared quickly and again as Jeff was able or bored, starting cooking it for us as he’s done this before. We ordered more food; Jeff cooked it.
I know what ever she ordered as a first drink, it didn’t work, but they replaced it immediately. I was very happy with the Mai Tai though they were up front about lacking orgeat syrup; a very common problem when requesting this drink but it is uncommon for the bar to be honest enough to admit this fact.
To summarize, you don’t come here for a cheap dinner but our tab wasn’t out of line with any other average night out with drinks. Service was way above average. Food quality was outstanding, flawless in quality and abundant quantity; the assortment was excellent too. By the time we departed around 6 things are hopping and Jeff is working a lot more tables. Sure you could get seated but you might have to cook for yourself as is typical...
