This place is a true hidden gem, I love the authentic "walk-up" style counter with minimal outdoor seating. This really makes you feel like they're more focused on the food and less on the appearance. After ordering a Regular Philly Cheesesteak w/ fried onions and Cheese-Wiz (OG style) I waited for approximately 8 minutes while my order was prepared. The woman who had taken my order was very sweet and had a good attitude, it was like she actually enjoyed her work which was a nice surprise. Normally, waiting for 8 minutes on a quick-eats type of restaurant would be a little annoying; however, this made me feel like my sandwich wasn't simply sitting under a warmer or being thrown together. In fact, it was quite the opposite to see them preparing my cheesesteak fresh. I believe I paid about $20.xx for large fries, regular "large" philly cheesesteak, and a "regular" drink". These prices are fairly standard and I didn't feel they were too outrageous for what I received. Upon opening the bag and reviewing the contents of my order I was pleasantly surprised to see a large side cup filled with ketchup, when I tell you this minor detail is tremendous in my opinion as compared to getting 4-5 ketchup packets that give you a microscopic amount of ketchup. They actually provide you ample napkins and ketchup which was quite nice. The food was simply incredible. Probably one of the best Philly Cheesesteaks I have ever consumed. I've been to Charlie's, Elmo's, Flannigan's, Carolina Ale House, and Philly Grill; this was hands down better than all of those restaurants listed and was sincerely a 5/5 for taste, size, and flavor. The french fries were piping hot and clearly deep fried upon being ordered which made them also a solid 5/5 for crunch and taste. The interesting signs posted on the walls of the restaurant made for a good read while awaiting my order. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend trying this place out if you're within an hour drive. My sole complaint would likely be the size of the "regular" drink that is included with the combo. I would have even paid more for a larger size; however, I was unaware that the drink would be so small since it was labeled "regular" size. I would ask that BIg Al's considers upping the size of the drinks for the combo meal, aside from that literally everything was perfection.
Facility: 4/5 (Cool signs, cool ambiance) Food: 5/5 (The PERFECT Cheesesteak) Customer Service: 5/5 (Very Friendly Cashier) Price: 4/5 (Slightly high, but well worth the cost)
Overall: 5/5 Will...

I have been begging my family to go here with me for a couple of months. This was the first time that we visited. Finally, everyone was on the same page, and we went. We were first in line to order but waited longer than we should have to place our order because it appeared as if there was only 1 person working. This person was taking the orders, cooking, and bagging up the orders for others in front of us. When it was time to order, I said, "Hi, how are you doing?" to the employee behind the counter. He looked at me straight in my eyes and said nothing back. Such a warm, fuzzy moment. After placing the order, I noticed it wasn't entered correctly. The changes were made, but the order still came out wrong. I wanted to try cheese wiz on my Philly, but when we got everything home, there was no wiz in sight. There didn't appear to be any cheese on any of the sandwiches, although in fairness, there might have been a little provolone even though there should have been wiz on one and american on the other sandwich. I'm sorry, but isn't cheese supposed to be the #2 ingredient in cheesesteaks?? The meat was overcooked, and I would drive-thru anyplace else for fries on the way home before ever ordering their fries (or cheesesteak) again.
The total came to over $71 for 2 regular cheesesteaks, 1 chicken philly, 3 fries, and 1 soda. There was ZERO bang for the buck, and we won't be going back to give this one another chance.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars for the atmosphere had nothing to do with Big Al's. It had to do with its proximity to other nicer establishments and restaurants close by.
Save your money and pass on this one. The sandwiches are thin, expensive for what they are, tasteless, without the proper amount of cheese, and completely NO VALUE for the coin you will drop here.
We've had Philly cheesesteaks in TONS of places. This one was one...
Read moreI wish I could give this no stars, but it requires one to post. I ordered dinner for my daughter & I after a late night at the beach with visiting family all day and decided to Uber Eats a $40 order from Big Al’s Steaks. My 11 year old daughter is allergic to peanuts, so I wanted to call to make sure nothing got cross contaminated with her sandwich and possible peanut oil from, maybe french fries or anything else possible. As SOON as I put in the order, I instantly called them and a man answered & asked if I could be put on hold. I said yes as he took others peoples orders in the store... waited for about 5 minutes on the line and then he hung up on me. I INSTANTLY called them back as soon as I was disconnected and it went straight to “this line is out of service” consistently, so they clearly blocked my phone number or disconnected their phone. I called from multiple phones & phone numbers and they rang through all the way, but was put into voicemail off the other phones and was then shortly blocked on other numbers as well. I probably had to end up calling over 45 times until the food was eventually picked up to make sure she would be okay. An allergic reaction for her were stop her from breathing and a trip to the emergency room and could be potentially fatal for her. I then went to google the restaurant, menus, anything like that because it must be displayed to some extent of whether or not they had it. Turns out they didn’t. So my daughter was not able to eat her sandwich or the French fries I bought her... I ended up spending $40 on nothing because I ended up having to go back out to get her food. 0/5 stars.
Completely unavoidable. Would’ve been a 20 second phone call. They say they’re from Philly. Let me say this, that’s not how...
