Been coming here since it opened about a decade ago and always impressed with how Ace is able to continually reinvent itself. When it opened they had about 6 different baos when that was brand new in Denver, they may have been the first to offer those. When they limited the amount of baos years later, they had the rice pillows entrée that was one of the most pleasurable food items I've ever had. Last night was my first visit this year and the menu is more inventive and satisfying than ever. I had my usual Tiger Wings to start, they were the spiciest yet but still on point being meaty and tactfully served over crispy rice noodles that are more than welcome to stick to the wings as they add great flare. Next I had the Taste of Ace with a side of coconut sticky rice. This is a gourmet dim sum sampler of 4 quality items including potstickers which so many restaurants offer lately but hold on, what sets these apart is their own style of dipping sauce which shines as a welcome departure from the usual soy based sauce. The other items are even better and are powerful competition compared to other Asian fusion restaurants. And what the sticky rice lacked in flavor didn't matter because the authentic earthiness is the point, think of Pai Mei in Kill Bill when he smells the bowl of plain white rice with great appreciation - allow yourself the same pleasure of savoring simple, authentic ingredients. It's a little more than plain white rice anyway so the hint of coconut and what looks like black sesame seeds should aid your experience.
I ALWAYS get their hallmark cocktail that echoes the present Chinese zodiac animal but they were out of The Year of the Snake but no matter, like the food menu the choice of cocktails is the best ever! I know good cocktails, I've had many hundreds of different kinds, probably over a thousand different ones but the 4 I had last night are well above average and don't rely on simple but rather a good, well thought out meld of ingredients.
Service is as great as ever.
Asian fusion is a very competitive niche and Ace has always and still does have the ability to serve match point against the toughest...

Okay so we came in as a group of 7 for a reserved ping pong table spot and it pretty much went down hill from there, our waitress was rude for one Jaylen each time we ordered alcohol it was very late, it also was not that busy, every time we tried to flag down a waitstaff we were ignored. When the waitress brought us our plates for the appetizers I pulled one of her long blond strands of hair from them, the food was average when we finally got attention from our server to order! When I went to the restroom there was also no toilet paper! I had to leave my stall and go up by the sinks and grab a giant roll that I am not even sure what it was used for and put it in my stall to use it! Also we reserved a table for 2 hours for ping pong and they let another group use our ping pong table ! So we got scammed out of 50$ not to mention other gratuities that should not have been added as the service was poor. Then they told us to leave as our reservation was up so they gave us our check, which we asked to be separated, the refused to do that as well, the waitress said everyone just usually splits the bill evenly, how nice for those people! after being refused that, we asked for to go boxes and I had to ask multiple times, we did tell 2 separate people at the front about our issues and nothing was done! Not to mention again and automatic gratuity that was added on for I’m not sure what reason as the service was very poor again and the staff was rude and un attentive!!! This place is an absolute joke and for one I I’ll never go back no one in my party will ever go back and I don’t think any one should go to this establishment either, for as much as our bill was they basically stole our money! If I could give this place 0 stars I would !!!! If you are looking for wonderful Chinese food and wonderful service I know some places that that are much...
Read moreI've been here before and had a wonderful time. Liked it so much we suggested it for our workplace happy hour. We tried to call multiple times over the few weeks before to see if we needed a reservation or not. On their website it said we were under the number to need one, but we wanted to be courteous and be sure. When my boss told the woman how many we had, she said that we didn't have enough for a reservation then immediately hung up. That's all good- until we show up, and the hostess tells us that we should have called. We left so many voicemails and never received anything back. We were then seated. The place was completely empty. She then told us we needed to eat dinner before we could play ping pong, but we would be able to later. (I'm sorry- are we 5? "Eat your dinner before you can go play"). We were also there at 430 and did not have any intention of having dinner, we just wanted to be at the bar and drink a bit. They forced food upon us, and when we asked again about ping pong, we were told that it would actually not be available to us at any point in the evening (again, place was dead empty and all the ping pong tables were wide open). The part that was most disappointing was the hostess. She was so incredibly condescending and rude from the very beginning. It wasn't that she even started off polite- she was rude from the very second we walked in. Very disappointed as I live down the street and have always had a good time here, and thought it'd be fun to bring my 12 co-workers to check it out and bring them business. As a result, I will not be back and neither will they, and I have told many people in the area how terrible this experience left us...
