Hoping we just went on a bad night, but didn’t have the experience I was hoping for.
I came in with a group for my birthday. Tried messaging through Facebook a few days before after attempting to call with no answer. Ended up calling day of after my message was not returned and was told they don’t do reservations, which was a bummer since we had someone with a wheelchair in our group and would have liked to reserve appropriate seating. When we arrived around 6pm the tables closest to the stage had a reserved sign. We ended up at the back table, which would have been okay typically, but the venue is not very wheelchair friendly since the tables are very crowded together and our friend couldn’t see anything. Even sitting on the high bar tables was difficult to see with posts and such in the way, although it was nice that they had multiple tv screens showing the lyrics and who was up next.
We ordered food which turned out to be pretty good and it wasn’t a long wait. The bartender was great. I also really like that they have a water dispenser with cups easily accessible so you don’t have to wait on a busy bartender for some water like at other places. Very nice touch.
The actual karaoke piece of the business still needs some work, but since it is a newer business I think they are probably still working things out. There was usually a pretty significant delay between singers which brought down the energy between songs and made the wait for your turn take longer. They also only allow you to do one song per “rotation” which was somewhat confusing because some people were going up multiple times pretty much back to back (these were people with the party with reserved seats so might be part of it). The ability to put yourself on the queue to sing from your phone is nice, similar to KARAFUN, although their library was SIGNIFICANTLY larger than KARAFUN which was amazing. You could pretty much search any song and they had it. I love karaoke and have been to a lot of places, and I have NEVER seen a library this large. Really amazing.
The DJ had a great energy when he did talk, but didn’t do so a ton. Didn’t really seem to prioritize keeping high energy levels like some other places which some people might enjoy. Was pretty straightforward with calling people up and occasionally reviewing how their karaoke process works and that was about it. He was very nice and had a great voice when he sang.
The most annoying part of the night was the reserved party, which wasn’t Rumors’ fault, but they also didn’t really do anything about them. They were very rude, had one person sitting at their reserved table and had coats on chairs, but didn’t actually sit at the table in the time we were there. Instead they were standing in the way of accessing the bar or the bathroom. They were insulting any people that were singing if they weren’t from their group. It definitely made for a negative environment for karaoke. Would have been nice for anybody working there to help with that situation, but they didn’t seem to be aware or care, not sure which.
Overall, I would say I’m disappointed with some of the logistics of the business, but the food was good and the music selection was amazing. The staff were all great. The sound was pretty good too. I might come back with a smaller group, but definitely not for an event unless they start taking reservations. I would be cautious with anyone that may have differing...
Read moreAfter going back a few times I realized this place is actually really pretty amazing. It’s really busy sometimes because it’s so amazing. Really good house band, really good sound equipment.
I never ordered any food, so I can’t comment on that. The service is really nice. Bartenders work quickly. It’s a good place to pop in and sing one song, but it gets crowded quickly and they have to let the people who are new sing before your second turn . So after you put your second song in you’ll stay at like number 20 or 30 for an hour or so as they keep putting people who just showed up ahead of you in the order. Once in a while people sign up using different accounts and get two turns while you still haven’t moved from your spot in 6 or 7 songs.
It’s a crowded place. Over all I would say it’s a good place to go if you have a big group , and are okay with your group getting to sing fairly quickly for your first song, but the second song May not happen, only get one turn every 2.5 to 3 hours, that they stay open.
If you want to get a couple songs in before the crowd shows up you can try to show up early.
Don’t go in at 9pm thinkin you’ll get two songs before 12am.
The karaoke hosts are doing their best. There are a lot of people, and it’s hard to space out the duets when people are singing more than one duet are using different account names.
I think I accidentally came off as rude when I asked if I was gonna get to sing again to the karaoke host. I didn’t mean to , I know it makes sense to shuffle new people in and it’s not their fault duets show up as different names making it impossible to tell that it’s the same people going on their second turn in 3 songs when you’ve been waiting longer than the age of the universe for your...
Read moreWe got yelled at by the bartender, left feeling embarrassed, and was overcharged at no fault of our own.
We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was my first time. Upon entering the back area, the first thing I did was ask Rose the bartender how it all worked. She told us it was open seating and to help ourselves. We saw that a private karaoke room was vacant, and with our larger group, I thought this would work best for us. There was no signage that a reservation was needed and the door was unlocked. After a couple minutes of being there, Rose came into the room and shouted at us to GET OUT. She stated, "I can get fired for this." I apologized to her and told her we didn't know we needed a reservation - this is something she should've told us when I first spoke to her. Her response was "I told you that you can ask me if you have any questions." No accountability on her end and no compensation for the unnecessary rudeness from her. This was very unprofessional and I felt so embarrassed. I immediately booked the room so we can stiIl enjoy our time there. We ended up spending at least $500 (with drinks) for 2 hours. We came here to celebrate and have fun and it really spoiled our night. We didn't deserve to be yelled at like that. We were very polite and cooperative. This place is fun, but sadly I will not be returning or recommending this...
