Our recent visit to what used to be a beloved hot dog spot in Denver was like stepping into a time machine, only to find that the future had turned dystopian. Gone were the vibrant vibes and mouthwatering variety that once made this place a culinary gem. Instead, we were greeted by the ghost of a menu, now reduced to a pitiful chalkboard offering just six uninspired options, each at a staggering $12.50. Yes, you read that right—twelve-fifty for a glorified Costco dog masquerading as the "Stadium Dog." It’s almost as if the new ownership decided to embrace mediocrity as an art form.
The four massive TVs that once proudly showcased the tantalizing array of choices are now just silent, dark relics of a better time, as if they too have lost the will to live. We were left squinting at the chalkboard, trying to decipher our overpriced options, while wondering if the new owners had mistaken minimalist decor for minimalist effort.
The "Stadium Dog" we sampled was an insult to both stadiums and dogs—barely a step above what you’d get at a big box store for a fraction of the price. At nearly ten times the cost, the only thing "gourmet" about this hot dog was the absurdity of paying so much for so little.
The ownership change has clearly sucked the soul out of this place. The once vibrant, quirky atmosphere has been replaced by a hollow shell of its former self. I miss the original establishment’s heart and soul—something that can’t be bought or replaced, no matter how many zeros you tack onto the...
Read moreI've been here twice, about a year apart. I wanted to like it, but this place absolutely is not worth going to. The first time, there were about 9 people waiting for their food, and the cook had one singular hotdog on the grill and was making them one at a time. There were 4 cops that asked for a refund because they had waited so long, and the cashier laughed at them. After 30 minutes, I got my hotdog, and the cook was so stoned out of his mind that he handed it to me, froze, and asked, "Can I help you?"" He didn't put any of the toppings on it and gave me a cooked plain hotdog.
The second time, the place felt like it had the heater on, and once again, everyone there was so high they could barely function. I'm all for recreational use, but at least be able to do your job. I asked for one type of dog, and the cashier said they didn't have it in stock. I asked for another type, not in stock. I asked for a third type, also not in stock. I finally asked what they did have and chose one of those. I got a drink too and found out that the soda machine was completely broken. All they had was water and tea. At least it didn't take 30 minutes for my order this time.
The Weinershnitzel level hotdog isn't worth $18, + $3 for a drink you may or may not get. The service certainly isn't worth any amount of money either. Save yourself some time and don't bother wasting it here. Maybe this place used to be good, but it isn't anymore. I personally...
Read moreWell of course we came here after seeing it on tv and visiting their website. We were traveling and used some of our set aside cash to treat ourselves here. What a mistake. When we entered there was no menu aside from a few things written on a chalk board. We asked the man at the counter if the menus were broken (since there was 4 screens off to the side that were turned off) and he just shrugged us off and pointed to the chalk board and said that’s it. We asked about several of the items we saw on their website only to be told they do not sell any of that anymore because it is too expensive for them. We decided to order anyway. We got an elk brat, a spicy brat, fries and since they didn’t have the fried mac and cheese we ordered the bowl of it. The bill was $50!! They charged $8 for a bowl of lukewarm flavorless macaroni and cheese. The fries were $6 and were soggy. The two sausages were $12.50 plus an additional $3.50 we didn’t know we would be charged for the toppings (literally just onions and cream cheese). The place was probably 95 degrees. The condiment bar (ketchup, mustard, relish and onion) was a mess. I would never come back here again. They should honestly just close the place down if they aren’t even going to sell the products that people came in for. At the very least, update your website. I wish I could get my money back. What a...
