Cocktails were good, I enjoyed that they were inventive, surprising, and delicious. We had the roast duck crispy roll, by far the star of the evening! Followed by the caramelized pork fresh roll, a pretty standard spring roll, not bad just underwhelming when following the roast duck crispy roll. Next was the wok seared turmeric rock fish, tasty, crisp, and nice. The noodles were too wet to pick up easily but not with sauce just wet because someone in the back was sloppy. It was served with a heap of dill, it seemed clumsy. The fish was great, the rest of the dish was confusing. We finished with the curry vermicelli bowl with tofu because they were out of the beef cheek. The tofu was crispy and I was impressed because this is a soup. It was tasty but nothing mind blowing. I didn't enjoy the host who I'm fairly certain was stoned out of his mind. He offered to get us cocktails while we waited but then kept forgetting if we'd gotten a menu, ordered or received our drinks. He wanted to slide us in and kept promising he'd seat us before the quoted time. It was an hour and a half wait and we were prepared to wait he was just weird (we waited the 1.5 hrs). I get it, everyone is new but maybe don't get dumb stoned at your job till you can do it competently. Our server was very solid but she left us mid meal and we were left with a busser who wasn't rude just didn't understand when it is and isn't appropriate to clear plates and plates were taken before we were finished, she also just wasn't attentive at all. I wish we had been able to try more of the menu, they were out of most things at 7pm, 3 hours before the end of service. For some reason, maybe staffing they only sat about half the restaurant. Overall I'd go back for a dink and a bite but maybe not dinner. 5 stars because it's Denver, star rating adjusted based on...
Read moreGreat find in Denver. The ambiance was cute, relaxed and reminded me a lot of a place I had eaten in Hanoi. A very well thought out atmosphere down to the straws, which look like bamboo. The service was very good. Everyone was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about their product. Even the runners would give tips and comments on the food they brought out. If I could remember our waiters name I would give him a shout out. He gave great service and was very passionate about the overall experience. The food was excellent. Everything we ate was a standout dish. We started with the pork fresh rolls and the halibut cheek larb. I could make a whole meal of the larb it was so good. We had the hokkien wok noodles. It was full of pork, squid and egg in a slightly sweet, sour broth. Highly recommend. We also had the rockfish cha ca. lightly fried fish chunks with fresh herbs and galangal in a sauce of lime, coconut and fish sauce. Fantastic. For dessert we had the Thai coffee crème brûlée and added the black sesame soft serve ice cream. Our waiter suggested this combo and I wouldn’t get it any other way. The ice cream was a little salty and offset the sweetness of the crème brûlée. I planned on just having a few spoonfuls and ended up fighting for half. It seems there is a very creative drink menu but I would like to complement the nonalcoholic drink selections. There were several nonalcoholic cocktails, a homemade ginger beer and quite a few creative shrubs. We tried several shrub flavors. My favorites were the beet ginger?, and the jackfruit. I think the jackfruit might be really good with a salted rim. The prices were very good in general and I feel that for the quality and quantity, it was a great deal. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough and plan to...
Read moreBeautifully decorated with cozy and eclectic design elements throughout, Reckless Noodle House welcomed my family into a relaxed atmosphere. Dishes were layered with rich and complex notes, arrived table side quickly, and looked absolutely lovely. We all shared every dish and the family dining experience was welcome after a long day of travel.
Here is a run down of what we ordered: Reckless fried rice was colorful and filling, with big chunks of pork belly adding wonderful depth to the mix. The seared prawns were delightfully crispy, sweet, and just the right amount of spicy. This was a group favorite! The shrimp chips were such a fun addition to the other food with great sublte flavor and crunch. The crispy duck rolls, which we wrapped in lettuce and topped with the spicy sauce that accompanied the dish, had the best crunch of any fried roll we have ever had! The pork fresh rolls offered a cool and refreshing experience, with big notes of Thai basil and a sweet sauce that hit with heat right at the end of each bite. Dakota's painkillers arrived with a delicate orchid blossom and were nicely balanced. We ended with the coffee creme brulee which was magically delicious and a perfect way to wrap up a fantastic visit!
Will definitely visit again when in town!...
