Three Dog Bakery — Restaurant in Denver

I've been to the one in KC at the plaza and was in love! Because of that I sought out this location, even though it was way out of my way. I'm a little disappointed with this location for several reasons. I ordered a cake a few days in advance, and it was not ready during the time frame they said it would be; however, that's not the issue, it was just a little annoying. Anyhow, as I waited, the cashier was nice, but very persistent and aggressive about buying birthday hats, which are about $7 for a hat. I decided since I am already spending $30 on the cake, it was getting a bit pricey. I politely declined, looking around at the other products. She then mentioned that their products go all the way back to the store, I thanked her, but didn't walk back there. Another person in the back working on the cake, possibly the manager, aggressively told me again that their products go all the way back to the store. I definitely this time felt obligated to walk back there. As I was looking at the products, the manager unkindly asked if I had any questions. I probably shouldn't have, but decided to buy two pieces, spending $30 anyway. The same manager lady checked me out, I paid with my card, and she asked me if she could sign for me, it was very weird, and she asked me in a way that was very rude and forceful. I felt very awkward, I didn't know if it was for covid, but I wasn't comfortable with her signing, she never said why she wanted to sign for me, so I justified it was because of covid to make myself feel better. Long time fan of this place, order several times per year for myself and this has always been the first recommendation to clients of mine for their dogs birthdays (I own a pet service company).

I’ve never had an issue ordering same day cakes in the past— as it turns out, my dogs could care less about the size/shape/color of the cake. I’ve been able to call, personalize and pay over the phone dozens of times.

I just called and asked what was available and the lady on the phone told me that I would have to come in and see for myself……. What? I’m 30 mins away from them and they close in an hour and a half. I realize that whatever is left is luck of the draw but I’m not driving an hour round trip for a personalized cookie.

I again asked the question and she told me that it was first come first serve and I’d have to come look for myself. I told her that I am calling to place an order for a cake today and I would like to have it personalized and paid for over the phone. “Are you going to pick it up today?“ was her response.

Yes, obviously that’s what we’ve been discussing for the last 3 minutes. She sarcastically told me she was going to go look for same day cakes like it was such a burden for her to do so. She came back and told me they have a 5 inch peanut butter. She asked what I would like written on it and cut me off to tell me that they could only fit a name in it. Her attitude was so ugly I politely told her not to worry about it.
