Nick's Gaslight — Restaurant in Detroit

So far, I can only say that I've been wanting to go to this establishment for a long time. I have a few friends that go there on occasion. I have tried to go many times. I have even gone there three times, but, I have need to use an electric wheelchair for mobility, though it is very compact and manuverable, and the establishment is not handicapped accessible. Every time I go there I sit outside in my wheelchair and call to see if there is some way I might be allowed to gain entry into their establishment so I might be able to enjoy the great food and atmosphere that I hear others speaking about so joyfully. But, no one ever answers the phone. It's been very disappointing to roll all the way there and be forced to just sit in my wheelchair outside the place wondering why I can't come in and enjoy myself like those that can walk right up that step into...

We came in on a Sunday afternoon after the marathon. First impressions weren't great. There were 3 other patrons, who soon left, a young bartender and an older guy. The place was dark and a little musty. The decor was straight out of the 70s.

This is a dive bar with a cocktail barman. There was no menu but the young guy can make anything. His white russian was outstanding. The older guy turned out to be the owner, Savas (the place is named for his son). From comping us numerous shots of ouzo, to giving his opinion on pretty much any topic, he was the perfect host. He brought out his homemade liquor which I think was made from honey.

Atmosphere is classic bar style. One big projector on the wall for games. Everyone’s right about expired beer saw for myself. Spoke with bartender “Steve” (I think his real name is savas based on other reviews) he suggested the gyro. Gyro was overall pretty good however I had to construct it myself. Food came out quick it’s a bar so don’t expect anything crazy it’s mostly just nuked in the microwave or quickly made otherwise. In total if you’re looking for a place to drink I would suggest against the ten dollar expired beers here. If you’re looking for a good spot to watch the game and don’t drink this is a wholesome...
