I was on a verge of having a meltdown. So my coworker asked me to go out with her for dinner and drinks. We decided to go to starters bar and grill on Woodward avenue. We went on Wednesday night December 7th 2022. The parking is free, but dark! And there is not a lot of parking spaces there. Because we once try to go there for dinner right before the Mary j Blige concert. But there was no where to park. I also tried to go a couple of times in the summer with my mother, for bonding time. But we couldn't find anywhere to park. If we decided to park somewhere else, my mother and I are not able to walk a long distance. But don't let that stop you if you park somewhere else you do have the advantage of riding the trolley to get you closer. But remember the trolley hours of operation. We entered the restaurant through the back so we had to walk around to the greeters booth to be seated. It was okay the greeter was also a server so we did wait patiently but not for long. Now there was a carryout lady standing there in her booth behind the greeter booth. She was friendly and nice she did answer some questions that we had. The greeter came she was a nice lady, but not very friendly, but Not rude. Of course I forgot the waiters name. He came right up with the waters after the greeter had already gave us the water lol. He was nice and assertive. He went over the menu with us very well. He gave us his opinion and told us was what was best for our taste buds. They also gave my friend a sample of the macaroni and cheese. I had the sampler appetizer, which included six wing dings, two corned beef egg rolls, two large potato skins loaded and two cheese sticks. That was enough. That should have been my main course. But the food looks so good on the digital menus. I couldn't decide if I wanted to grill pork chops or the pepper steak and rice. The waiter stated that they both are good and that is a hard decision to make lol. Then he told me just to go with the pepper steak because you get more for the almost same price. So I did get this pepper steak. While waiting we did order margaritas. That was the best margarita I've had in a long time. I wanted to take one to go but I said no I had enough for the night. My friend got her food which she had the spicy chicken wings. But unfortunately I had to wait about another 10 minutes from my meal because they forgot about me. I had to ask for my food and then it came after I asked. That's not good because we came to dinner together which means we should eat together. I was so full from the appetizer I can only taste my pepper steak. The pepper steak was unfortunately spicy! I'm not big on hot spices. They need to label the menu of the food that is prepared spicy. I was able to enjoy it because I ate the appetizer. But I did enjoy it the next day. The spice wasn't too bad for me. But my daughter and Grand boys love steak. If I would have gotten that for them they would not have been able to enjoy it. So starters I suggest that you let the customer know what items on the menu has a bit spicy spice added to it. The waiter was great. He had a nice personality and he was very friendly. Only thing is that he stayed away a bit too long. I asked for Carrie out boxes I never received them from him, the bus boy was nice enough to get it for me, with bags. He gave us our bill, but then again he stayed gone so long that we had thought we had to walk the bill up to cash up. He came back and got the bill. Other than that I will ask for his service again. The food was good and the adult beverages were great. The atmosphere was perfect for after work. They had the games playing some music playing, that might have been just a tad bit too loud for after work. It was a lot of tables of coworkers, couples, and family. This was a very nice outing for me and my coworker. I really did enjoy myself as well the staff, the food and atmosphere. I will come back, even if I need to catch...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I could rate them 0 starts, I would. This is the WORST RESTAURANT TO EVER EXIST. No exaggeration. These people must be drunk or something, I kid you not. I get a grilled chicken salad every time I come here, and I get a different salad every single time. I have ordered a grilled chicken salad everyday for 4/5 days straight, and each time, my salad was different. I NEVER get what I order. I was so frustrated with their chefs and hostesses (whoever answers the phones) because either my order isn’t correct, or it is, and the chefs COMPLETELY didn’t even read the ticket. One day I ordered it, the chunks of chicken were HUMONGOUS, barely any lettuce, one egg. The next time I ordered EXTRA chicken, and got the same exact amount of chicken the salad should come with. They always only give you one dressing and you have to order another (pay for it) and they still only give you two dressing. The next time my salad was very full of lettuce, two eggs, plenty of croutons, and about 3 dressings (the best salad I ever got from here outside of the very first one I had. The next time I went up there after ordering online and my salad was still being made after an hour. I go back again and it’s still being made…... I went back inside and it was still being made again so it took me 3 hours of waiting before the salad had to be made at my request so I had to tell the front desk girl what ingredients I had…they still ended up giving me NO DRESSING…………..,So due to this frustration, I stopped ordering for a few days. Today was the last very straw. I requested a grilled chicken salad with FETA, croutons, EXTRA CROUTONS, egg, and I asked for CEASER DRESSING. My salad came with shredded cheddar or American cheese, NO CROUTONS (when I paid for EXTRA CROUTONS) some red sweet dressing, GIGANTIC cucumber chunks and tomato chunks, and some bland bread. I will never come to this restaurant again and I suggest you go to a different starters location or a different restaurant entirely. How hard is it to make a salad??? Is it rocket science? Because this restaurant makes it seem like it is. FIRE THE WHOLE STAFF. The CHEFS SUCK. This place is...
Read moreAs far as I am concern, this location in Detroit on Wdwd. at Forest does not deserve to have 1 star.
I went there with a friend; after standing at the counter for about at least 5 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge our presence as several of the waitresses overlooked us walking about and talking with one another.
I finally decided to approach one who was having a conversation with another waitess. I told her that we would like to sit outside and eat. She told me that she would try to get someone that would be willing to serve us outside.
I do not understand why that woud be a problem as their were already a few people out there eating and being served.
Still standing there at the counter waiting, waiting, and waiting. I said to the same waitress who was talking with another; if we can be seated and serve. The other waitress said she would sit us outside.
By this time my friend and I decided on our own to sit in chairs near a wall as we continued to wait, wait, wait and wait as we watch the waitresses talk with one another and walk about.
I approached the waitress that had earlier said she would seat us outside. She stated that she was waiting for someone to clean an area for us.
Waiting, waiting, waiting and waiting; I appproached another waitress (I no longer see the one who was suppose to seat us) and ask to see the manager.
I get up and looked around when my friend becken me to come to her and she pointed to a man standing at the counter talking with a few of the waitresses. She said she heard the waitress tell him that we requested to see him.
After waiting a few more minutes, we decided that; since Christ was the propitiatory of whom suffered and died on the cross for the sake of mankind. Our sacrificial death at Starter's would be in vain and we...
