Fitger's Barrel Room — Restaurant in Duluth

Please do not go here if you are under the age of 30. We went here for a date around 6:30pm, Saturday Nov 1st. The bartender asked “are these real?” about our ID’s (we are both 21 years old), and told us then “the serial numbers look weird”. Stared at our real IDs for a solid minute. We were able to show second forms of ID to confirm our birthdays and he made our drinks. An apology for this misunderstanding would have been appreciated.

We were not helped or spoken to again until the check came, so he obviously didn’t deserve an outstanding tip. He then looked at the tip that he received and said “oh are you proud of yourself buddy?”

While we understand the importance of checking IDs, we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome because of how this was handled.

Historic brewery in Duluth. It is buried inside the old brewery which now hosts several businesses. The tap room is in the old barrel room which is a great environment for having a beer or two. If you have a big group they have some overflow space.

On my stop they had 8 of their beers on tap including: an apricot wheat, starfish pale ale, an American lager, oatmeal stout, hazy IPA, sour dragonfruit, another lager and a dunkle that is really quite good. My husband and I hosted our rehearsal dinner at The Barrel Room earlier this month and we were so happy with the level of service we received from Tom, Marci and their team.
