Chalkboard Kitchen — Restaurant in Durango

Chalkboard Kitchen operates out of a food truck behind Anarchy Brewing. We eat at Chalkboard a lot, as their food is consistently great. They have a great selection of vegetarian options including an eggplant banh mi which is bangin. Their salads and apps are great too.

Anarchy is a great casual spot to hang, grab a beer while you wait for your food, but be prepared for a wait for your food to arrive. Their staff is friendly, but more often than not they seem to be understaffed and wait times are long - often over an hour. When we came here last, we stood in line to order while they took 3 phone orders, one after the other, then proceeded to call someone back who had tried to place a phone order. To enhance the service my suggestion would be to hire another cook, and/or prioritize in-person orders (maybe even stop taking phone orders if you’re backed up to avoid bad customer experience and super long...

My husband claimed this is the best chicken in town and now I've tried it, I think he might be right. The food was soo tasty and our order came relatively quickly. After reading the negative review from a few weeks ago, I was a bit sceptical about going here, but we spoke with the owner as we were leaving and he had nothing but praise for his wife who does all the cooking. I get the vibe that with success comes stress and they are both passionate about what they do and the food they serve customers. They're a small/local business, that everyone should support otherwise places like this will cease to exist. I will 100% be returning and I will be recommending it to as any people as I can. If I could marry a chicken sandwich, this is the one I’d pledge my life to. If I was already married to a chicken sandwich, I’d dump that one to go fool around with the Chalkboard Kitchen Chicken Sandwich. This is the chicken sandwich you build a home with, raise kids with, enjoy retirement with, and spend every day infatuated with because it never gets old.
