We chose this place for our one dinner in town and DEFINITELY do not regret it. From the friendly and prompt service, to the fun refreshing take on traditional Mexican dishes, you feel the love that has gone into this restaurant. My partner and I shared our food so we could each try a little bit and nothing was disappointing. They even had a special going on when we arrived where ladies had a special happy hour menu for drinks so naturally I grabbed a glass of bubbly to go with my meal. I'll outline what we had below but long story short if you're curious, just go in and have the food. Trust me.
First up, parking- we were able to park in the lot next to the Chinese restaurant. It didn't look open at the time and only one spot was reserved for their customers so it seemed ok. Be careful of parking in the lot just before the restaurant, it looks like it's bank parking only. That said there's nearby street parking too and garages down the street.
Decor- they've kept this place fun, fresh and comfortable. Love that it wasn't overwhelmingly decorated so the food could speak for itself.
Service- Christina (pardon if I misspelled that) was super friendly and prompt with greeting us and introducing us to their menu. They use NFC technology (the same thing you're using when you use apple pay or Google wallet or tap to pay) to share the menu with you and Christina was great at explaining to us how to do so. She checked on us constantly and gave great recommendations and kept us informed of where our food was at with the chef as well as helping pace our meal.
FOOD: Guacamole- made fresh after you order it, you cannot go wrong. Trilojia de Sopecitos- three little sopes served so perfectly you'll be tempted to order more. Pork Belly y Manchamanteles- a VERY generous serving of pork belly with DELICIOUS house made mole. We were recently in Oaxaca, land of amazing mole, and this restaurants was just as good. The pear confit is an EXCELLENT and fun pairing with this. Hongos/ Queso Tacos- if you're worried that the truffle oil will be overpowering or about the texture of mushrooms with cheese don't be. These two tacos were very delicious and they've chosen some great ingredients to manage texture and make each bite fun.
Dessert: Tamal de Chocolate- Honestea, why aren't chocolate tamales a more prevalent thing? The way the tamale is paired with a not too sweet and pleasantly warm ganache as well as hazelnuts and a mixed berry gel is so satisfying. Perfect way to end the meal.
For a restaurant that's only been open a month they are doing so much right and they deserve a chance if you're hungry and in their area.
I would highly recommend this place and I truly hope that it finds it's niche in this...
Read moreQuality food! Everything is prepared from scratch, even their mole sauce is prepared from scratch! The chef and brother are highly experienced and well trained within the food industry. Working at various fine dining in locations in Florida, they finally came back home and started this location. The location is a little deceiving, I was not expecting much when we first entered. But we were greatly surprised with the quality of their dishes. They were very flavorful and fresh. We got the beef mole, the mushroom tacos, and the aguachiles everything was amazing! Both my husband and I were extremely surprised at how flavorful the mushroom tacos were. For dessert, we got both desserts that were offered! I honestly did not care much for the coffee mousse, but I was once again, extremely surprised by how delicious the chocolate tamale was! Prices are very reasonable if you take into consideration that everything is prepared from scratch, all salsas and sauces included! Needless to say, many people will probably be surprised by some of these prices, but if you consider that they are making everything from scratch tortillas, mole sauce, tons of seafood varieties, etc, the price becomes very reasonable. I think that unfortunately because of its location, it might be hard for them to get exposure. So hopefully word of mouth will get the news out of this fantastic place. Attached is the lunch menu, their dinner menu has a few more dishes, we had dinner. I think this restaurants dinner menu can perhaps fall under fine dining, but again because of its location most people will not know what they are going to receive when they arrive. You will be wonderfully...
Read moreWhat an experience! Absolutely amazing. We had an issue with our reservation but the server was quick to sit us. We came in and there was a large table that just seemed to be getting larger. There was a lack of servers so getting anyone’s attention was difficult (it was a Saturday night). The small open space made it easy to see the tension of the crowd and servers. The menu was a bit difficult to view and even being in tech work I found it hard to navigate the website having to go back and forth on the site to compare options. We started with before dinner drinks and you could definitely tell they were hand crafted and stunning. We had the Huitzil - there was no problem swapping out the metzcal with vodka. And I enjoyed an amazing martini - it was small and pricey but that will be the theme for the rest of this experience. The tostadas de atuna (it’s one tostada and a bit pricy, but worth every penny. It was hard to share so maybe smaller tostadas with a portion on each would be nicer. However the Tuna was incredibly fresh. We had the Arroz a la Tumbada - surprisingly better than the tuna and we also had the Cochinita Pibil. The Cochinita Pibil was too spicy for my girlfriend, so we switched plates. I love spicy food and yes it was a bit spicy. I still added the chili on it and enjoyed it but, it could be too spicy for many out there. We ended up having dessert somewhere else as the options were limited. Our tab came out to $170 but it was definitely worth it and we have been telling everyone to go. Great job chef. We look forward...
