We dined in and had a late lunch. There were four other tables so the place was not busy. We ordered hush puppies, a Cajun boil with shrimp, mussels, corn & sausage in the "all in one" sauce, medium heat. The hush puppies were fine but the boil came out warm, not piping hot as we're used to. The shrimp were overcooked, mussels were mediocre, corn was cold in the middle and sausages were dried as they were thinly cut - as if they reheated a prior order. The sauce did not have a nice balance between all the flavors - the Old Bay was dominant and the heat was more of a mild level. The waitress did not check on us at all after she dropped off our food and I had to find her for our check.
Our total bill was $38.36 which we split between two credit cards. One card was charged $19.18 and mine was charged $57.54. Math was definitely not mathing! I asked the waitress to refund my card and charge the correct amount. She took a long time to void the $57.54 then proceeded to charge me $19.45. I asked her why it is a little more than half? She said, "this is a new transaction and I added a little more for the kitchen." What?? It's not that I can't give an extra 27 cents but it's the principle, especially after attempting to charge us double the amount of our bill! If there is an extra charge for the kitchen staff, it should have been clearly stated on the original check! She then told me to deduct that extra amount off my tip. Pretty presumptuous for lack of service and shady accounting. It was our first time at the Crab House and...
Read moreThese guys are my Christmas Miracle! I got out of work super late last night and ordered via Grubhub a half hour before close. As a fellow industry person I really try to avoid doing this but, it was Christmas Eve and I wanted to bring a really nice meal to my family. The Crab House came through for me!!!
We have some picky eaters in my family but the garlic butter snow crab legs were amazing! The meat was such a vibrant red color I was really impressed! I also got the garlic fried catfish platter which was really excellent. It’s hard to get fried food for takeout but the breading was just perfect when it arrived and still crisp! Flavor on point!
THE COLESLAW WAS MY FAVORITE PART. Coleslaw is such an under appreciated dish in my opinion! The crab house has some of the best slaw I’ve had in a long time. Cabbage was crunchy and the sauce was sweeter than I’ve had traditionally. I’m hooked! Absolutely delicious, I love that recipe!
Thank you to all the staff who worked last night and let this order go through so late! We all felt really spoiled sitting down to feast like royalty!
I’ve seen some reviews complain about the price to size ratio. I paid $42.00 for 1lb of crab legs and got exactly what I imagined. Sometimes you don’t realize how little a pound really is until you weigh it out. If you’re getting fresh seafood shipped in to a landlocked location that’s just the price for quality. Honestly, I think the quality is here. Can’t wait to order from...
Read moreDisappointing is an understatement! I have a pretty darn good reputation. So take this for what it is worth. Way too expensive for way too small portions. I ordered two clam chowders and two lobster bisques through Uber Eats. Upgraded all to the larger size. Even at buy 1 get 1 free, the cost was $55.32 with taxes, tip, and delivery fees. What I got for that price was worse than disappointing. The clam chowder is not really chowder. It is just watered down milk with literally a couple of tiny potato crumbs in the bottom. Not even a little flour or at least a little corn starch or potato starch to thicken it, let alone clams. The supposed lobster bisque had no solids in it at all. And the size was a mere 10 ounces for each. That was with the $2 up-charge per "bowl" for the larger portion. The crackers, the only real solids in the entire meal, were stale...but like they had recently been wet. I know that Denver is pretty far away from the ocean to expect much from seafood. But I could have saved about $50 and gotten CANS of soup form the grocery store that would have been heaps better. I'm sorry but, not only do I not recommend this place. I feel like I was actually ripped off. Of course Uber says food quality is a restaurant issue, and I can't argue there. But that leaves us with just one more example where the consumer is left screwed and the restaurant gets to keep the money by having a middle man and no...
