One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The customer service was great and the woman who took our order was a doll and so desperately wanted to make us happy. I really appreciated that and felt bad there was nothing she could do to turn the situation around.
I’m not leaving this review out but spite but rather out of a need for an honest review amongst bribed and computer generated ones.
As someone who had traveled and lived around the world (including places like nyc italy and France) and eaten at some of the worlds best restaurants, I had high hopes after seeing all the vegas food bloggers (paid) post about this place and the countless 5 star reviews which I’ve learned you can’t trust here.
I ordered a slice of pizza despite knowing it would be terrible (it was) because I was hungry. I have been making gourmet Neapolitan pizzas at home for 5 years now and am of Italian descent so I know good pizza.
You could tell the ingredients were low quality and it lacked artisanship. I was willing to let it slide because like i said, I knew what I was getting myself into.
The pie is a whole different story and I can confidently say it is the worst pie I have ever tasted. I’ve had better pies from smiths frozen section, that’s how bad it was.
So let’s break it down and start with the crust. I expect pie crust to be flaky and buttery and just delicious. The crust on the slice of cherry pie i ordered was heavy and dense and turned to mush in my mouth. It was awful.
Next, the filling. You can tell they are really cutting corners here because the filling was gelatinous with cherries here and there. They gelatinized the filling so they didn’t have to use as much fruit. And the fruit they used wasn’t high quality. The woman at the counter saw we were unhappy and offered to bring us a new slice of her favorite- strawberry. It was also bad but not as bad as the previous slice because it was just made.
So we were served cherry pie that was definitely a few days old. And I’ve seen the owner respond to other reviews saying they use the highest quality ingredients and the chef is world renowned.
But let me tell you- if that was true the food would speak for itself and I would not be writing this review right now.
I read all the reviews after I ate here and was appalled at all the 5 star reviews.
I also want to make known the manager or owner came up to us to see how we liked the new pie and i had to tell him the truth. So all of this was communicated at the time to management and he offered us to come back and he would treat us but the truth is I will never return to this place and what he should’ve offered me was a refund.
Being from Los Angeles we have one of the best pie shops called Winston pies there and they charge seven dollars for a slice and actually use incredible ingredients so $10 for a slice here is price gouging and totally undeserved for the quality.
I hope this review will motivate the owner to replace the chef with one who actually knows what he’s doing and will revamp the entire menu, otherwise, this place won’t be...
Read moreWanted so badly for this place to be good and was utterly disappointed.
We were meandering trying to find something when we pulled into Town Square, I had heard of this place before and was eager to try it.
Was surprised to find it almost empty on a Saturday night. Should have been the first red flag but the pies in the case looked good enough so on we went.
Looked at the drink menu, and nothing is less than $10. So I guess water for me, because no beer is worth $10.
We were hoping for a 9" pot pie, which seemed like a reasonable value and since we expected it to be good, leftovers wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately the server tells us this will be an hour, despite their menu saying 25-35 minutes. I didn't think much of it at the time, but my wife pointed out that this almost certainly means that the menu is talking about pies made fresh, and the pie we were talking about ordering has been sitting in a freezer for god knows how long.
In any event, we didn't have an hour, so we skipped the pie, and had I realized they were serving frozen pies, we probably could have just left then, nothing ventured, nothing lost. But my wife had ordered a lemonade. So there's that. We have to close out a check anyway, guess we might as well order something. How bad can the sandwiches be? Turns out they can be pretty bad.
We ordered the chicken pesto sandwich, although I'm not sure there was any pesto. For a "gourmet" sandwich, the bread was surprisingly stale. Easily could have been fixed by toasting the bread, but nobody thought to do that apparently. The chicken was dry and the cheese was barely melted. Whatever the chef envisioned for this sandwich, it wasn't what ended up on our plate.
The sandwich came with a side salad, which I expected to be "gourmet" given that that word was displayed prominently on the signage out front. It was not. Instead, it was a very plain green salad on iceberg lettuce. It was straight out of a high school cafeteria. It was made even funnier by the fact they are putting arugula on the sandwich and apparently on several pizzas as well, so they are bringing in iceberg lettuce specifically for this sandwich. How incredibly gourmet.
The absolute worst part came at the end though when we closed out the check. The server came out with a standard folio that has the check in it. I put my card in, so far everything normal. Then, instead of taking it and swiping it and letting me privately sign for the gratuity, the server comes over with a handheld terminal, and instructs me to select the gratuity amount on the screen, AS SHE STANDS OVER ME WATCHING! I could not believe it. So totally embarrassing for everyone.
End of story, the place was empty on a Saturday night, so if any of the crazies that gave this place a good review are serious, you better get out and eat there because it probably won't be there...
Read moreI was so enthused to try this new eatery with my bestie. We salivated over the website's pictures and eyed our desired pie slices.
Welp. We ordered 4" pot pies: one chicken and one gumbo. My meal came within 7 minutes of ordering. My bestie's came in the same amount of time. The pot pies were served in what seemed to be a microwavable dish - not the tinfoil displayed on the website. In fact, the pot pies did not resemble what is shown on the website all.
Because it was microwaved, the pot pie was pliable not flaky as you would imagine a pot pie would be. It was elastic. Neither of our pot pies had "gravy" so when you dove in, it was dry. I wish I was exaggerating. They were both devoid of pot pie goodness one expects. They were inedible and we both left healthy amounts of food behind. Even as waitstaff checked on us and asked how the food was, we demurred from an enthusiastic response replying, "it's okay" instead. They removed our plates replying, "great!"
Let's move on to the pies. They were disgusting. My apple pie was old. No other way to say it. It was not a fresh slice as it had that matte look fruit pies get when they are past their prime. We each got our pies ala mode. The ice cream never melted. Let me be accurate...it melted some after having it in front of us for about 30 minutes. Real ice cream melts almost immediately particularly atop a warm slice of pie. By the time waitstaff took our pie plates away, the ice cream still had not fully melted. There was more ice cream left in its original scooped form than what was melted down. I could not believe I digested the small portion I did. If it did not melt on the plate, imagine how it would react inside a human body.
This entire experience cost us about $40 each. Even though our plates were nearly full when they took them away and we replied our food was just okay, no one followed up with us to see why our experience wasn't excellent. We were stunned at the quality of the food. Nearly a week later, we still joke about the ice cream still holding form and remarking how awful our experience was. I had to leave an honest review. There are other bad reviews listed, please believe them. In a down economy $40 is a lot of money to waste. Please use discretion if you decide you have money and time to lose.
Were there any positive dining experiences? Well, yes, two: The waitstaff was nice and the soda machine poured out top-notch soda...
