I normally never leave reviews for any places I go to good or bad but never in my entire life have I had to deal with the incompetence of trying to purchase a single card as a customer, and believed it deserved this review. Before this dumpster fire of an experience, I have shopped at this store in the past and purchased sealed product and never had any problems with that part of their business. I asked why their singles were priced the way they were and was told that since they sell so many cards they just have a hard time pricing all their cards with current market values (this is a fair point). The card in question was the Latias Ex #239 from Surging Sparks which they had priced at $229(at the time of writing this review the current TCGPlayer market price is $187 and for those wondering, TCGPlayer is the hobbies golden standard for pricing singles and product). I proceeded to ask if they would price the single down due to the almost $50 difference and the employee told me no and I asked if there was a manager that could price it down for me he also said no and that I would just have to come by another time and hope they price it to market when I return. This already gave me a bad feeling so I ended up passing on this card and asked about another card that was more aligned with it’s current market price. The employee took it out of the case and I asked if I could take a look at the card’s condition as it was in a penny sleeve and a super scratched up top loader, but they refused. They said they wouldn’t want me to damage the card, which is valid and fair, so I asked if they could take it out for me to look at and they said they were afraid to take it out and damage it as well. THIS is the sole reason for me writing this review, I have never ever in my life been to a card store that wouldn’t let me view the condition of a card outside of it’s sleeve and top loader before purchasing. This is also a common practice at ALL card stores to let customers view the card’s condition. I believe this is an absurd and predatorial policy/practice and would not recommend purchasing singles at this store until something changes. Hope this feedback is taken into strong consideration, especially if you want more people in the actual pokemon hobby to consider...
Read moreUpdate 2025: It is with a heavy heart that I have to update this review. If you want to shop in store DONT, they allow others to purchase a game directly from your hands. If you do shop in store you have to grab the item you want and immediately head to checkout in hopes that somebody hasn't purchased in the time it took you to get back to the front. Personally I will never be shopping in store or even online here again because we called in to check if an item was in stock and was told it was. Once at the store the people at the front confirmed the item was in stock and took us over to the item. We then decided to browse to see if we could find anything else we wanted to purchase, took about 10 minutes to look around. Then went to the front to purchase all of our items and had one taken away from us because somebody had purchased it online while we were shopping around in store. This practice of taking items away from customers less than 10 minutes after you were walked to the item and reassured it was in stock for purchase seems unreasonable. They still have great prices but don't bother going into the store because they treat the online faceless customers better than locals. I will be hard pressed to ever return to this after the treatment we received, even though this has been my go to game store for the last 5 years. I am leaving my previous review up for comparison to show how bad the store has become.
Original review from 2021:
What a great place to buy games. They have a great selection of games, table top RPG and more! This store is much more organized than before and way more inviting. The staff is super friendly and helpful. If you ask for recommendations, they'll actually have several options that they've played before and can recommend. They always have some kind of sale or clearance area in the store and the games in general are just cheaper than anywhere else. I absolutely love this store and I'm very excited to see where the new owners are going to...
Read moreIts been very sad to see the direction that this store has been taking. Ive been a long time fan back to the Gaming Goat days. The Gaming Goat was my go-to shop for many years, I knew they would always have what I wanted, and at the best possible price. I didnt always agree with what Jeff said, or his views on certain things, but I always felt valued as a customer. No matter what he said online, when I walked into The Gaming Goat, we both knew I was there as a customer and I felt respected. Not to beat a dead horse on this change in management, but TGG really was the GOAT. To contrast that with Knight and Day. Over the past year there has been a very noticeable decline in service, product availability, and prices. The stores walls are nearly barren. What is there is more expensive than what I can find online. There have been price discrepancies where the stickered price is incorrect, so they charge the higher price. I understand the importance of supporting local shops, but why should I pay for the privilege of driving across town, for the item to maybe be there, at a higher price, or even an incorrect price? These issues seem to have been accelerating in the past year. Im not normally one to write reviews. I will just take my business elsewhere and let others make up their mind. But the thing that really pushed me over the edge to write this review is how frequently this store and owner bans people from the shop. I have never heard of so many people getting banned from a store for a difference in opinion. Look at the amount of reviews on here result in the person getting banned. From people giving constructive feedback to better their boardgame subscription, to ex employees, as well as other people ive heard from personally. Comments are met with denial, and questioning the persons credibility. But what do I know, im not a business owner. I just know as a customer, the difference really has been...
