I had so much fun here! My sister had been previously and decided she needed to take me. This is right across from the new Pop Stroke in Town Square, which is really easy to walk to from the parking garage. Our reservation time (be sure to make a reservation time online) was for 11am (when they opened) on a Sunday. There were maybe 2 tables of people when we arrived, but by the time we were getting our painting underway, it was getting pretty full in there. The studio fee is $9, and you pay per piece you paint. The prices range from $10 to $40 per piece, depending on what you get. I was debating between a couple of things, but finally settled on a sort of bowl that was $18.
I believe you only pay the studio fee up front. You pay for the piece when you are done. They give you a card to hold your paints and some instructions, but everything is pretty straightforward. We sat at a table for 2 with some sponges and water to wipe down our pieces and then got going on painting. The music was bumping, and I was having a great time! I felt like I was taking a really long time to do everything because I'm so particular, but no one came over to kick us out or rush us. We were checked on once, which was nice, and then left to do our thing. They have stencils, tracing paper, and all sorts of brushes to create what you want.
By the end, I paid, I think, around $26 because I had a free studio session, bought 2 stickers from the front, and included a tip. It takes about 2 weeks for them to glaze and fire the pieces, and then you can pick them up! We are still waiting on ours, as we just went this past Sunday. This is a great place for adults and kids, but if you aren't super into the kid scene, I would suggest coming closer to nighttime, maybe. Another tip, wear shoes with grip! The floor is tile, and pottery dust and paint get on the floor and make it very slippy. I almost slipped walking back with my paint card, so just be mindful and careful. Their pieces also do sell out and change, so if you see something you love and would regret not getting, just get it. My sister saw a mug she really liked her first time and hasn't seen it since. I would 10000% do this again with a group of friends! It's a great way to spend time, talk, and...
Read moreFirst off, I want to say this shop is the cutest place ever! I love the idea behind it and I think it’s very cool to give people the opportunity to do something out of the norm! The reason why I unfortunately gave this experience a one star review was not the place itself. It was an employee, who sadly treated me and my two friends like we were burdens to be there. She started out with an annoyed tone, pointing at the wall and subtly rolling her eyes when giving us directions on what to do. There was a pretty princess/Barbie party happening and the place was filled with a bunch of little toddlers running around(so cute; not a problem) but the employee was wearing a very cropped halter crochet top, practically see through and her shorts were so short that her back side was hanging out. In my opinion, that’s not a look of someone who’s employed and working for a business. Especially, in the presence of young kids. Not really the vibe you want to give off to create business, very trashy. Then when we were done and ready to pay she gave us attitude and rolled her eyes when we just had a simple question. It just really sucks that one person can ruin an experience so much. I REALLY LOVE THIS PLACE and would love to be back but unfortunately, I do not want to be there if I see her because of how bad her service was. Hopefully next time there will be someone who’s a little kinder. Sorry for the bad review I think what your business is doing is great and I wish your business the...
Read moreWhat a gem, this place! Brandy assisted me throughout my experience here at The Pottery Shop. My story... I had a Japanese vase that my boss, as her personal assistant, tasked me with fixing. After several years of grabbing and moving it by the rim, it finally broke a "handle" type piece off, plus several fractures moving down. After trying to figure out how to fix it (and failing lol) I decided to contact a professional. Brandy was very knowledgable, walked me through what she believed could be done with the piece when I brought it into the store. Better, the estimate was only 20 dollars. What?! Way lower than expected. It gets better (also a little sad). When it was finished Brandy calls me and says it's ready, but she isn't going to charge. Apparently the woman who attempted the fix was "dissatisfied" with her work, and refused payment! Definitely takes more pride in her workmanship and honor in the quality of it! I took one look at the piece and said to myself, wow! This is so much better than I could have done and now it's stability has been reinforced. I believe the work was more than enough for the damage that was previously done! Thank you!
Edited because original post embarrassingly had the wrong name of the woman...
