Update- went on Monday at 7:00pm and still not better. We were at table 10 and the conveyor belt still 95% empty. We ordered food from menu and each item took 8-14 min to receive. One item we never received and when we told server just to take it off tab, it magically appeared. The sign in and check in process is still unclear and a mess! Previous - I want to start by saying I have been to a few Kura restaurants and they are amazing. I have frequently visited the one in Carrollton Texas and LA… I have never experienced what I did this evening. I am hoping it’s new and it’s working out its kinks. First I couldn’t join the waitlist from my app, the location kept saying error page. I got to restaurant signed in and it said 25-30 min wait, but then the host checked on me and told me 50min to 65 min… I said no problem. Most Kura you wait. It’s worth it. But after 7-8 min the host came and sat me. Weird but ok cool!!! When I sat down I ordered my drink from the screen. Started waiting to see plates I wanted and all were EMPTY. In all the times I have been to KURA I have never seen this… but I just sat down so no problem. I ordered a roll from the menu and waited. I finally pinged for help for my drink when 15 minutes had passed. It took another 5-7 minutes to get my drink. Then I pinged again for a soy sauce plate. Still during this time no sushi was on the conveyor belt. I asked the lady next to me if it had been like this long and she said “oh yeah”… at 28 minutes I got the food I had ordered from the menu. I finally asked a server walking by if I could put my name back on the list for a table…. I think the counter or “aka single section” was at the end of the line so I was hoping a table would get me better luck. She said she would ask. A few min later a gentleman came over and asked how can I help you, I told him there has been no food on belt and I was hoping just to put my name on the list again. He said no, he couldn’t do that cause the wait was too long. I said well I don’t mind waiting cause at this point I am waiting and getting nothing. He said I could order from the menu, and said I know it defeats the purpose of coming in for the experience… apologized and walked away. It honestly didn’t seem like he cared about me. Which he may not … who I am 🤣 but it’s important to listen and try… customer service 101… anyway- During this time I ordered a few more plates from the menu… they took some time, and weren’t very good… the lady next to me gave up and she was trying to pay but couldn’t. She flagged a server down and they did nothing to help her… well Except explain the pay process that this lady had already been doing for 15 minutes… she tried again and no luck … The lady went to the servers both next to us and they gladly took her payment when she stated she would just leave since it didn’t seem they wanted her money. I then got my check and decided it was just time to go… the machine promptly took my payment with no problem. I didn’t have a good experience. Which is so sad!!! I love Kura and this one is closer to me! The single section ☠️ seemed unimportant to this establishment. Which when you make a person feel invisible, it doesn’t make them want to come back. Again I have been to very BUSY Kura restaurants with 2-4 hour waits, extremely busy and have never seen an empty conveyor belt. Maybe a selection is empty but it’s full when it comes back around… I didn’t get to really eat what I normally eat but what I did eat was not what I have had before. Tasteless, and falling apart. Yikes!!! It was a very sad and disappointing experience. I hope they figure it out quickly so people don’t miss what an amazing experience at Kura is...

My goodness, talk about Kura.

We first went on their opening weekend, then yesterday (Saturday). The first time was when they opened at 11:30, the second in the early evening. When they first opened, I noticed there were dirty spots in the area we sat in, which was concerning considering they had just opened. This past visit, I know they were dealing with the evening rush, but the cleanliness was still an issue. Regardless of how busy you are, you need to focus on cleaning the spaces in which people will be dining. No, excuses.

The wait...

This was VERY unorganized and while being there, several people were a bit upset and had no issues with voicing it. Those who were waiting, received texts as if their tables were ready, but they were doing that to tell us the wait would be longer. I assumed that ticked a few people off, I know it ticked us off. I understand the wait time could be extended, but until someone questions it, just let us assume that's what is happening. When we were finally ready to be seated, the host told us we would need to be at the bar, and if not, we'd have to wait all over again. Excuse me, how does that make sense? If the option was bar/table when adding our name to the reservation, then I could potentially make sense of that. After speaking to the manager or the person who was over the hosts, we were seated when the next table became available. To note, if you have visited the establishment before, you'll see there is no "bar". The "bar" area is a seating area for those who are waiting to be seated. Again, it made no sense.

To address some of the comments about it being overpriced, I agree to a degree.

You are paying $3.25 for a mini-roll and sashimi. You'd be paying more for what you're getting here, somewhere else. I do agree with the overpriced items, that are not on the three-dollar menu. For Tempura, two pieces, you're paying almost ten dollars. That also applies to a scoop-sized plate of fried rice, you can get more elsewhere for the same cost. You know what you're getting when you visit, if not, it may be best to look at their menu ahead of time.

The quality of food, so far, I haven't had any issues with it. I'll admit, I do a little smell test, just to make sure.

The customer service last night was fantastic, they brought in a young man from Florida to help with training. His presence and customer service, made the evening a bit more bearable when it came to calming the angry.

I'm hoping to see some sort of improvement when I visit next; I like this little spot. Also, I will do a better job when picking a time to visit, it will NOT be in the evenings if...

I had a good time dining in . This was my first time at a conveyor belt sushi service restaurant. It was recommended to me by a friend. I will say, the experience was cool seeing the robot bring your drinks. The sushi is straight forward , either you like sushi or you don’t. The wasabi , was giving what it was supposed to give. You only needed a little and it went a long way. You can tell the wasabi was fresh. I love that which to me wasabi is my favorite part of eating sushi. I just wish that they had better options for alcoholic beverages they only had 3 options. I would love to see Japanese sparkling wine, soju, sake maybe? The other thing that disappointed me was the deserts. The donuts with the vanilla ice cream were ok, but the Taiyaki ice cream (the one with the fish) was not good at all. The Taiyaki was soaked in oil and was obviously fried and had too much red bean paste . I’m not sure if they do that because it comes frozen, but I just find it hard to believe that it’s made in house. It’s definitely not a somi somi. And it came with vanilla ice cream, which again you can’t go wrong with vanilla but nothing great. I would think that would be a hit if they’d change the recipe for the Taiyaki to be more fluffy and sponge like, instead of fried and greasy. If you’re looking for a place with a lot of human interaction with a server this isn’t the place for you. It’s mostly self service (which I like because you get things fast/at your own speed ) and I hate bothering service people if I don’t have too. If you want sushi come, if you’re here for anything else go find it else where. Also it’s going to be a wait , the place just opened in this area so it’s a new fun hot spot. Be patient people, don’t give the servers attitude because you have to wait. I saw a lady actually come in and was annoyed you have to check in on the tablet outside. And one of the waitress handled it very well. Everyone was nice and respectful and...

I first discovered Kura Sushi during a business trip to Los Angeles and instantly fell in love with the concept, the food, and the experience. Naturally, I assumed that kind of quality would only be found in coastal cities. So when I returned home to DFW and learned there were locations here, I was cautiously optimistic—but wow, was I blown away! This location exceeded all expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, upbeat atmosphere. The space is spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully laid out to accommodate both individual diners and groups. Every table felt intentionally clean, and the staff’s attention to detail was obvious. The service was fantastic. My glass was never empty, and every team member I encountered wore a genuine smile and made me feel welcome without ever being intrusive. They were friendly, attentive, and clearly cared about creating a great guest experience. Now, the food: simply incredible. I say this as someone who has eaten a lot of sushi in LA—what I had here was better than many places I’ve been to on the West Coast. Every dish that came out was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The conveyor belt system made it fun and interactive, but the food quality never took a backseat to the novelty. You can tell they care about both presentation and taste. I also want to address something I saw in other reviews: a mention of a “weird smell.” I noticed it too—it’s just a cleaning agent, not fish or anything off-putting. In fact, once I realized what it was, I found it reassuring. It confirmed that the booths and seating areas are being actively sanitized between parties, which made me even more comfortable dining there. This Kura Sushi has officially become my go-to spot—not just for sushi in DFW, but for a reliable, satisfying, and downright enjoyable dining experience overall. Can’t wait to come back again (and again).

Also, I will do a better job when picking a time to visit, it will NOT be in the evenings if possible (weekends).
