I tried Rude Awakening coffee shop before coming here, which was a mistake, & am very glad I gave my morning coffee another try at Vagabond.
This place was truly a hidden gem, & the coffee was pure art. While pricy for their sizes, the product itself was extremely worth the cost. I would go here every single day if it was close by my house. I felt genuine peace sitting in this cafe, & that is nowadays a rare thing.
The flavored syrups? Handmade & dated to preserve freshness. The matcha? Whisked by hand with a bamboo whisk, not poured from a jug as a syrupy concentrate. The espresso shots? Pulled carefully & precisely with calibrated equipment. I chose one of their seasonal specials, a Banana Foster Latte (iced), & I sincerely would chug that stuff if I could. They made their own caramelized banana milk for the latte & that toasty caramelized banana flavor truly shined in a way that was creamy & sweet but not overpowering. I also got a plain espresso shot on the side for an extra jolt (didn't want to disrupt the latte's flavor balance) & the barista was nice enough to recalibrate the espresso machine & pull another espresso shot for me when the first one came out not quite right.
The place is tiny, but incredibly cozy & not at all cramped. There's a sitting area to decompress & sort of 'hide' behind the counter you order at, check it out down the hall. There's no bathroom, so keep that in mind, but with only one very pleasant employee behind the bar it was a very comfy safe-feeling place to sit down & have a craft coffee.
I would genuinely recommend this place to anyone. The owner is clearly not just a barista;...
Read moreWe brought my parents, who are not fluent in English, to Vagabond Café hoping for a pleasant visit. While the coffee and drinks were good, the way we were treated was extremely disappointing and uncomfortable.
This café has a bathroom that requires a key and a sign stating you must lock the door when you’re done using it. My mom, assuming the door locked automatically, handed me the key after she was finished. Within seconds a man (likely not a customer) entered. As I was clarifying this with my mom in our own language, the owner abruptly and very passive-aggressively chimed in, implying we hadn’t read the sign or didn’t know how to read it.
This remark was humiliating and felt blatantly disrespectful toward my parents.
After I used the restroom and returned the key, a staff member immediately went to “check” the bathroom. Even though I understand they’re trying to keep non-customers out, the way this was handled was very uncomfortable and made us feel singled out and unsafe.
The drinks may be good, but the treatment we received overshadowed everything. It’s really unfortunate that a place with potential is undermined by staff behavior like this.
We will not return and hope management reconsiders how they speak to and treat...

Update to my review from a while ago.
These ladies work their butts off here. It is always welcoming and friendly. The coffee is all handmade and always something different is offered there. The owner takes the time to get to know her patrons and takes the time out of her day to engage with them. To read a review stating the opposite of this is disheartening and clearly the person had no idea what was going on or just needed something to "review". I love coming here every single week and will continue to come here for years to come. Thank you...
