While our previous visits were wonderful this last one was disappointing. (Long story short i was given meat in my vegan meal and was told by management I would need to pay extra, to get the tofu it comes with.Great staff, unsupportive management. ) To start with the positives, we both really enjoyed our food and our waiter was fantastic. The broth was wonderful and I was happy to see a veggie option for the bao buns! Unfortunately my vegan ramen had pork on it, which isn't ideal but not a huge deal for me personally. The wait staff was quick to apologize and tried to remedy the situation. I had asked to just get the tofu vs making a whole new meal. Unfortunately per the manager, I would need to pay extra for the tofu. I was not asking for anything extra, just what was supposed to come with my meal. Wait and kitchen staff are only human so I understand completely when mistakes happen. Our waiter was very apologetic, which is the only reason we stayed to finish our meal and I didn't make a fuss. The audacity of the manager however to expect me to pay extra for 2 slices of tofu instead of supporting his staff is disappointing. I hope the manager sees this review and truly understands the uncomfortable position he put his waiter in. Having worked in the customer service industry I know how abusive to staff some people can be over mistakes. Unfortunately as much as we enjoy this place we'll no longer be going back 100% because of the way the manager clearly didn't have his staffs back. To the manager, take better care of your staff, they're the backbone to...
Read moreFirst off, other reviewers claiming this is close to authentic ramen must be a joke. I've had Michelin-rated ramen and even had different kinds of ramen in Japan, and this place is a far cry from authentic or even remotely good.
The first red flag was the lack of Asian staff in sight. As if that weren't enough, there was carpet throughout the restaurant. Why? The smell of old and musty carpet did nothing to enhance the experience. To top it off, the anime music playing in the background gave me total weeaboo vibes. It was so cringe.
Onto the food - we ordered the wasabi and mentaiko takoyaki as appetizers. It was the most mid takoyaki I've ever had. The different "flavors" listed on the menu were nothing more than a variety of sauces slapped on top of the same bland takoyaki base.
I ordered the black ramen. While it was aesthetically pleasing, it tasted like nothing. The noodles were cooked well but that was all I could taste. The guy at the table next to me ordered black ramen and I heard him saying there was no flavor and had to ask the waitress for some sort of sauce. I've never in my life had to return food back to the kitchen and today was my first time.
My husband ordered the hybrid tsukemen with cold noodles. The flavor was good and the noodles were perfectly cooked. However, the soup alone was just warm, almost room temperature.
Giving 2 stars because the blonde waitress offered to replace my ramen but was kind of rude about it. Needless to say, I would...
Read moreWe ate here on a Friday night around 7:30 and it was easy to get a table for two. The staff was so lovely and personable, professional and efficient. We sat right down and ordered the cold dipping noodles with hybrid sauce and the hot dipping noodles with spicy curry (wasn’t super spicy). We did get the combo deal that gets you a drink and an appetizer for an additional six dollars. I got the oolong tea which comes in a can and is absolutely delightful and my husband got a beer. Our appetizers were served just seconds before our noodles, the appetizers were delicious, including the kaarage, their super succulent well made version of this popular Japanese fried chicken. The veggie dumplings were great too. They were both cooked to perfection and the chicken itself was super juicy. The dipping noodles were delightful, we had never had anything like that and the flavors were just unreal. We kept swapping bites of each other’s and trying the different hot and cold noodles. At the end, when our noodles were spent, and we had eaten the succulent pork, we asked for the delicious lightly seasoned broth (wari soup) that they pour to your liking in the leftover Ramen sauce. What a great way to end a delicious meal! Parking is super easy because it’s in a strip mall in federal way.
Oddly enough, I ate at this restaurant right outside of the busy Shibuya station crossing in Tokyo. That was the best Ramen of my life so pretty crazy to have two locations here in Seattle! We are...
