The store itself isn't all that big, everything is at list and there were no sales or deals. They carry the major publishers but I didn't see much of any newer indie titles. The new comics shelf felt very depleted and it kind of feels like the story doesn't bother to order enough new comics for anyone else other than their holds customers. I was in their with my 8 year old and the kids comics section is literally right in front of the door... there's no room for kids to look at the books because they'll immediately trip customers coming in. Stupid place to put it, especially since I wasn't going to leave my 8 year in the most unsafe location in the entire store.
Maybe it's a staffing issue and management couldn't find anyone better but the fellow who was working the store had zero recommendations. It was bizarre how little he helped me or knew about comics. "Hey can you recommend me a cool new X-Men title?" "No, sorry, I don't read X-Men. Ditto when I asked about any sci-fi comic recommendations. Ditto when I asked about any kids comics recommendations. Another customer asked about DC comics and the clerk says... The Dark Knight. Which, sure, but... the most famous Batman comic ever from the 1980s? That's it? That's all you can recommend for all DC comics?! My dude, maybe read some comic sites and actually... know what you're selling and be able to hold a conversation? Maybe just go get a job at Target if you care so little about working in a comic book store?
Anyway, I tried this store out and no way I'll be going back. It's unfortunate that area of Federal Way is served by such a mediocre comics...
Read moreThis store has been a part of my life since I was 12. Jim was an amazing owner who was able and willing to put up with a crazy 12 year old asking him questions for hours. I moved away a decade ago however I still would stop by every few months when I visited town. I recently moved back to the area and saw that the store had moved...across the street. So nothing too far. (Just turn left when facing the old store and you'll see it). Jim is no longer the owner, however do not worry, it is left in great hands with his younger brother Doug who seems to be just as great as Jim. I'm so happy to still have this place in my life as any true comic fan can attest to how close their favorite store is to their heart. Doug will continue to create a great and inviting environment that you can feel confident in finding what you are...

Action city is the other of my two favorite comic stores to goto since I have returned to this world of spending money! As with another of my reviews, Jims store I visit weekly and probably almost every week for trhe last 2 months. Jim knows his stuff, always friendly with customers. Always willing to make a deal or make it happen. I take who I deal with it and spend a ton of money with very seriously. Since coming back, I have had questions on many different comic subjects and Jim has never not tried answering them. Great knowledge of comics. Good selection of back issues. Other stuff in the store if that is your thing. Toys and statues, etc. All this to me, makes a first rate...
