Well, for starters just look at the photos of the delicious mouth watering food that was recieved. You know its good when it takes an hour to prepare food that contains zero ingredients that require independent cooking because they are all prep items.
What is with that Salad with the dry tortillas next to it you ask? Well that is the kids meal, and yes, this was packed this way… because the only thing kids love more than a healthy salad on a nice hot day is a greasy tortilla steamed salad that has been roasted in plastic for an hour on a hot day.
Behind door number 2 is the Aztecs Nachos as they come with no modifications… looks delicious right? I know I just I love it to pieces when a can of jalapeños are opened up in time to be dumped in the middle of all of my meals before they expire, so this should have been an truly artisanal experience for me, and would have been had the kids meal not stole the show.
I don’t know what the term “nachos” means to you, but for me a couple things have to happen to be considered Nachos at my age. These would have worked in my top ramen years, or even my frozen totinos party pizza years. But I mean I am probably an anomaly because doesn’t everybody order this thoughtful signature dish of plain tortilla chips topped with old beans, dried up cheese, rounded off with the tastiest divine duo of mushy once dice shaped tomatoes and canned jalapeño peppers conveniently dumped smack dab onto the center of whatever stale chips did not completely soak up all the undrained canned jalepeno juice —with no salsa or pico on the side, no meat, just what you see here and whatever is lurking under that top layer (beans only, its just beans).
On to the meat of my review: Ordered via GrubHub, who did not transfer order notes. I do not fault the restaurant for the order mistake, as that as not their fault. I fault therm for an order of cheese only -no meat nachos taking an hour to prepare on a weeknight, and for essentially calling me a liar for letting them know my order was wrong when I took it back in —as I had simply planned to reorder via GrubHub since GH had already taken responsibility. I am not sure what these azteca workers thought I was trying to do or what kind of nacho bandit scam I was trying to run on therm over these 12 dollar nachos, but due to the flat out nasty attitude of the young woman with too much makeup on and the accusatory response from the manager before I could even state what I would have preferred the next steps to be, I left, and put in an order at the closest other Mexican resrtaurant —likely thier competion, but who knows. Not me because I don’t live in federal way. What I do know is that I have been eating at Azterca for over two decades and have never been treated this poorly. Obviously I will not ever return to this reject location and will share my experience with friends and family who live in Federal Way and who do not support the behaviors I experienced furring my visit. It is a real shame when an online 3rd party app gives you better customer service than the two foolks standing right in front of you. I say two because the other lady was very nice —even if she was over-talked by the unprofessional ones who were making all the asinine assumptions. They should maker her managers instead.
The two stars are for the woman who behaved like...
Read moreI enter, greeted by friendly faces as well as the aroma of melted cheese and sizzling fajitas: a welcoming environment at the end of the week. As I’m shown to my table, I admire the Latin American decor and posters featuring Mexican actors from the 30s and 40s (I’m a sucker for nostalgia. Sue me.) I ease into my seat. “Rather comfortable,” I say to myself “Rather comfortable, indeed.” Then, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, BAM… chips and salsa are placed on the table. It’s at this time that I request a side order of bean dip and realize I’m in store for a delicious meal at Azteca Mexican Restaurant. While enjoying my awe-inspiring pepsi, I skim through the menu, drooling as I dream of every savory flavor. “I HAVE MADE A DECISION!” I proclaim to the waiter, “I will take part in the consumption of a mouth watering cup of tortilla soup and a tasty cheese enchilada with rice and beans.” The waiter scribbles down my order and disappears into the kitchen. Not more than five minutes later, once again, BAM. There’s my food, more beautiful and appetizing than I could have ever imagined. Although I requested the soup before the rest of my meal, it’s a welcome sight for such a short wait. Right off the bat, the soup stands out, even though the cup size is what you would expect from a bowl. Spicy, filled with moist fajita chicken, and covered in rich melted cheese, the tortilla soup is a must order. Next, a personal favorite of mine, I dig into my cheese enchilada. Azteca does it right, a good amount of quality food for a reasonable price. What definitely stands out about this enchilada is the sauce. Simply put, it’s amazing. The waiter returns with the check and asks if I would like to try a dessert. I politely decline the offer because, honestly, I can’t eat anymore… but I won’t soon forget my Azteca dining experience. I expect to be back soon, next Friday maybe,...
Read moreFood is delicious. The Mango Margarita was amazing! The service leaves something to be desired.
Our waitress didn't even greet us, she just asked if we were ready to order. I don't know her name because like I said she didn't even greet us let alone introduce herself. When we hesitated she said, "I'll come back" and left. She never offered to help or suggest menu items or anything. Later I told her I wanted to order a cocktail. She never came to take my order. I just went to the bar and ordered for myself. I also had to get my table forks and napkins.
The interesting thing was we asked another waitress if we could order a drink and she told us our waitress had to get it. That was fine, but she didn't even go get our waitress for us. However, when our waitress came out of the kitchen, she zoomed right past our table and checked on the other waitress's table for her. Our waitress helped the second waitress with her table but the reverse wasn't allowed?
Our waitress acted as if we'd come too close to closing. I actually checked their closing time because she seemed so dismissive and hurried. We were actually 2 hours before closing. She never checked on us or offered us anything during our meal. We had to ask...
