I'm sorry to report that this was one of the most embarrassing (if not THE lost humiliating nights of my life). The night of March 31st or early morning April 1st. I was so excited to be invited by my two daughters for a night on the town, but that abruptly came to an end here at Hops on Birch. I literally had ONE beer before we stopped by here to play games and have another beer before we went home, but the girl behind the bar was rude and uncaring. I asked for a sample of the #8 and she refused me. I couldn't understand why, she said I had been "over served". Which was completely wrong on her part. I understand it's her job but it's also her job to be able and tell the difference between disabled and drunk. I am disabled, slightly hunched over and walk with a limp. She refused me multiple times of an enjoyable evening with my daughters because I was "too wobbly". I am already so self-conscious of my disabilities and it was so embarrassing to have someone who looks to be in perfect physical health degrade me like that in front of my daughter's and in front of the other people who were sitting at the bar. I felt less than good enough to be there. We went home very disappointed and I was deprived of a nice bonding evening with my daughters. I hope that your bartenders are more caring and able to tell the difference between drunk and disabled to avoid any further humiliation and sadness in the future. I've never experienced this before at any other bar. Personally, we will probably never step foot in this bar again. Thank you, have a...
Read moreLoved this place in the past, but my recent experience on 9/16/24 changed that - my partner asked to sample a pickle beer, and when the bartender poured it into the small sample glass, a large mass of yeast came out of the line. The glass had a very clearly obvious disgusting yeast blob in it. He tried to give it to my partner anyway. I noticed, said that wasn't cool, and he then apologized and offered to pour another sample (FROM THE SAME LINE!) into a different glass. I said no. I worked pouring beer and maintaining a couple dozen kegs in the past. You're supposed to clean the lines out every once in a while. For a yeast blob to form AT ALL, you need to let it get pretty bad. Seriously disgusting and the bartender acted like it was normal. Cannot go here or recommend this...

It's owned by a lovely local couple and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to recommend a beer based on your preferences.
Best of all, it's a smoke-free environment on the patio, which makes for a much more enjoyable experience.
