High hidden fees on top of already highly priced food. Go to beaver street or lumberyard Brewery or something for the same priced burger minus fees and get a better burger, nice atmosphere, good beer, with no hidden fee sketchiness going on.
I’ve lived in flagstaff for 30 years and 20 near the hospital. I’ve been here now and then to meet a friend reluctantly for a drink. It’s dark and drab, usually lively, and the waitresses are hustling and friendly. The food is ok, but priced as high as nicer establishments.
Recently I visited reluctantly with a friend to find hidden fees added to the bill. Yes, some is tax, but the rest is ... what exactly? Ask them about it and the waitresses get peeved and complain that their boss is adding these sketchy fees that customers always complain about and they are stuck dealing with the irate customer. The waiter tells the customer to read the back of the menu in small print where the owner explains the sketchy situation. Of course the owner mentions the customer should tip NORMALLY on top of the hidden fees lol. Really? Really? Waitress says if you pay cash you can reduce the mandatory fee by 15% (btw, cc fees are 5%). Now I should tip regularly? What is going on here? See attached picture.
Pro tip to the owner, just be honest, eliminate your fees, set your food/bev to a higher price that you think you need to be sustainable and the customer will decide if it’s worth it. Maybe suggest not tipping. Sketchy fees are never a good idea. Its dishonest. You are hoping that drunk folks...
Read moreThey have no website so public it is. Been going here for 20 years. Watching baseball having 1 drink in 1 hour today Many times there was no bartender behind bar. It was shift change and I have worked in bars so no biggie. Wanted food but new bartender didn't come by forEVER to check on us. I finally decided no food from here I'll cook at home after 1 more drink (they lost most money there and a sandwich is $19). I moved my empty to the rail and... you guessed it... FOREVER (they were not busy). When I finally caught her and said, "Can I have another drink please?" The response was an incredibly rude, " I don't know what your drinking." I was taken aback and my friend says, "(No names) don't on be so rude." I swore, told her she couldn't talk to me like that because I was a customer, and then the argument ensued with her coming right back at me with vitriol. The.minimum wage in Flagstaff is $15/hour for servers. The restaurant charges a fee to the customer for credit card transactions, and have added a Flagstaff Minimum Wage (FMW) secret tax to the customer's bill to offset the minimum wage. Shouldn't Sportsmans and the staff ensure that customer service is IMPECCABLE! I left with the bartender banning me forever. We will see for I think until I get the proper apology then I will disparage tourists, friends, and anyone I know from going to Sportsman's Bar and Grill. Ball is in...
Read moreThis restaurant charges a 13% "surcharge" fee without disclosure to the customer prior to ordering from the menu. You only become aware of it when you receive the bill. This non-disclosure it actually illegal. Restaurants are being reported to the Arizona Attorney Generals office. A settlement was just reached in Phoenix that states "The settlement prohibits the companies from charging fees not disclosed on the menu and also secures $20,000 in civil penalties for Arizona. " so there is precedence now and I suggest being transparent and honest with your customers.
To quote the receipt: " Due to credit card fees, record inflation, and flagstaff minimum wage law which is the highest in the United States we choose to add a $13% surcharge instead of raising our prices 30%. Please tip your server they don't...
