I want to start with the good. and that is the vegan food. for vegan food it is excellent. it is so difficult to be able to go out to eat for me and my wife and most of the time the vegan food is subpar at best. While this is not the best vegan food i have had it is certainly better then most. the wings were fantastic!
however the service is pretty poor hence the two stars. it really pains me to rate them this way as i had really high hopes and hate to see vegan restaurants not focus on the complete package.
we actually went there twice when we were in two on vacation which again is a testament to the quality of the food. however on both occasions we had issues. the first night they forgot to make my sons pizza, and while they admitted the mistake my son still had to eat alone. we were the only table there at the time too. no biggie we got over it as we enjoyed the food.
however we went back and this time for take out. got a double order of wings. took it home and discovered it did not have the wing sauce on it. its hard when mistakes are made at the store but when its take out and your now back at the house its unbelievably frustrating to have to get back in the car and drive back downtown to fix a mistake. when i called all i got was sorry if you want to drive back we will remake it. yes they did offer us more food when they realized we were upset but we didnt want more food. we just wanted to food we ordered. at this point with two mistakes in two orders i told them i didnt want anything and would just bring back the food and order elsewhere. when i got back the manager then shows me the tiny sign under the counter that says absolutely no refunds. i can see why they have this sign as i see they make quite a bit of mistakes.
steve the owner has a reputation of coming up with many excuses for his negative reviews as you will see in this forum however i would prefer him to just focus on the issues as they do exist. i want them to succeed as there are so many limited options out there. i do not write this review to stop you from going there as again i will say it a third time the food is good! i write this so they will focus on customer service and realize that this is truly 50 % of the battle for restaurants.
steve and employees at pizza patio i wish you all the best, truly.
edit....as i mentioned steve would come out and defend instead of own their mistakes, this truly makes me sad as i thought they would step up. actually my son ordered a normal pepperoni pizza which i can show you steve on my receipt. in fact it was your server who came out and admitted that the kitchen forgot. again it was 430 and we were the only ones in there. please be sure you have the facts correct.
in terms of asking for something for the entire meal for free this is again a blatant lie. in fact i drove back to the store and brought the food back and said i wanted nothing except my money as at that point. the manager there did offer us free food ( a vegan pizza and not wings) but we did decline that offer. i also never once said i would post anything on social media, as you can see this is the only post i have EVER done in my life. but you have now made this personal as you are spreading lies about us. people need to know the actual truth and not some fabrications. again all of what i say i can...
Read moreOk where to start. Let me tell you the positive. So happy that this place had so many vegan choices. One entire side of the menu dedicated for vegans! So many choices. The food is absolutely delicious! I cant remember having vegan cheese that was so amazing .its tasted like cheese, texture, color. I was so stoked about it. The small pizza was a perfect for 2 people. So flavorful, loved all the spices. Cooked perfectly. The cauliflower wings with the bbq sauce..mmmmm I'm drooling thinking about it. My husband asked me a few times if I was sure that it wasn't meat before biting into it. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And the cheese again....yummmm!! The food alone get 5 stars. We sat out on the patio, it was a beautiful night. Now the negative.... The line to order took a bit just to get to our turn. Once we did the wait for our food took even longer. Our cauliflower wings came out first and then the pizza immediately after. We were halfway finished eating still waiting for our chili cheese fries. We finally ask and she says the cooks made it non-vegan style by accident and are making it correctly now. Cool...how about communicating that to us when you know what we ordered. A moment later she drops it off and runs off. No chili....only cheese. So I get up go inside and wait...there's no line, but no one is at the register...so I wait even longer. Finally she comes up and i ask her about the chili. She goes and asks the cooks and I hear them say.. "oh man we ran out of that a while ago." So she gives it back and tells me they're out of it. I ask if they've been out for a while why not mention that when we order. Sure maybe not her fault..kinda she should know at least if they are out of certain things. Otherwise why am I paying extra for nothing. Again ..communication..come on staff keep eachother in the loop. Now the price. Way way expensive! Almost $70 for 3 food items and 2 teas. Then they automatically add 10% tip when you order and ask if you want to then add more of a tip right there. I've worked in the service industry before and tip well..not that it even matters, but give me good service so I dont feel screwed. Overall the food is what saved it. I would say we probably won't go there again because I feel more negative than positive, BUT dang!!! I'm not sure because the food and flavors were that good....
Read moreI have to admit, the first couple times I walked past Pizza Patio I thought, "Seriously? Another pizza place in Flagstaff? Like we really need that." I based my assumption on my experience of other pizza places not being accommodating to my plant based diet, but upon taking a look at the menu posted outside, I ate my words. Vegan deep dish pizza? Typed out proudly on the menu? Okay, maybe this won't be like the other pizza places. Then, in casual conversation with a friend, it was revealed that Pizza Patio offered vegan cheese sticks. Now I was intrigued. It had been far too long since I had the sick joy of breaking those sticks and watching gooey goodness stream out. I popped in last night after I got off of my late shift, without the worry of being "that customer" that expects to be served near closing time, since pizza patio is open way late. The atmosphere is cozy, a few tables and a bar, only one tv, and an angelic black Labrador lounging against a wall. I received a warm welcome from Christopher, a fellow veg, who explained their philosophy. Pizza Patio is a place where everyone can eat. No longer does the vegan in the group have to scarf down undressed iceberg lettuce and call it a meal, the one with a gluten intolerance doesn't have to fear having a violent reaction from their food, the omnivore does not have to face their irrational fear of vegetables. Their drink system includes a reloadable card that you swipe at a beer station, which gives you a time limit to pour your own beer. I tried the vegan cheddar sticks and the cauliflower hot wings, as well as a sample of a vegan lemon almond cake. The sticks did their trick. A crispy shell containing liquid gold to be dipped in hearty marinara sauce put the smile that had been absent all day right back on my face. The cake was delightfully mellow, with a tart lemony glaze dribbled on top. The cauliflower wings were baked to perfection, with chopped basil thoughtfully sprinkled over them. I got to chat with Steve the visionary, whose authenticity and consideration for the operation radiates from within. Ico the pizza puppy approached me after I finished my food and blessed me with her mystical gaze. This was a the most positive experience I had all week, and I will be back soon for...
