I purposely went here because I had heard how good it was. Boy is that a crock of crap, which might actuallky be better than my dinner was. I really wanted to like this place, but I really can't find anything positive to say, other than my egg roll was ok, but how do you screw up an egg roll?
Where do i start, the dinner combo was overpriced for a portion size that is about half what you get from any other Chinese restaurant, and that is just the start. The pork fried rice was more like chopped up rubberbands (supposed to be pork), overcooked rice that was crunchy, and about an entire chopped raw onion, there may have been more onion, raw white, and green, than there was overcooked rice. Next, the sesame chicken was cold and had no sauce on it, it tasted like it had been cooked in the morning and sat all day long. The 2 pieces of broccoli that were included were raw and hard, it was like it had just been ripped apart and thrown in the box, i don't think it even touched a sautee pan or steamer.
I eat very healthy, and every once in awhile i splurge and get Chinese food or something like that, and i'm very disappointed that i wasted my splurge on this. I could barely even eat enough to satisfy my hunger, it was so unappetizing.
Stay far far away from this establishment if you are looking for good food.
There are only 2 positives, the egg roll was hot and fresh, and the lady behind the counter was friendly, but i went for good chinese food, too bad i got the equivalent...
Read moreI'm baffled at how this place has so many high ratings. I ordered sesame chicken and fried crab meat sticks. All of it ended up in the trash. Total waste of $20.
Where to start with such a disappointment? The sesame chicken should be called "fried batter and orange glue" there was nearly no chicken, it was a mush of 75% batter and what I would assume was small chucks of low grade chicken, chicken fat and connective tissue. It was so gross. At first I tried to pick it apart, hoping I could find at least something that resembled a chunk of chicken. But nope. The sauce was just as bad. It was so thick it was more like a gummy glue. The whole plate went right to the trash. I held out a little hope for the crab meat sticks, but it was another disappointment.... they wernt even fully cooked. I took a big bite and was greated with a mouth full of doughy nastiness.
They were not busy, so all I can figure is it was just laziness on the part of the cook, how hard is it to just fully fry some crab meat? I normally give a place a second chance before I leave a less than 4 star review, but I see no point in throwing away another $20 on another meal that's not fit to feed my worst enemy.
Bottom line- I would not...
Read moreService an atmosphere I'm rating a 3 since I've never dined in. My order was delivery. The driver was nice and it arrived on time. Chen's Kitchen is hands down the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I was born on an American Air Force Base in Spain and grew up eating Chinese food there, it was good, I've had plenty of good Chinese food in Michigan, South Florida, and New Orleans. I've had AMAZING Chinese food in New York City and California. General Tso's chicken taste like nothing. The fried rice is garbage. For starters it's NOT fried. It appears to be a yellow "spanish" rice mix for $0.99 cents from a dollar store with a little pork, and onion -period... It's not fried like I said. Horrible food, don't waste your time or $45...
