We heard a lot of good things about this place and read some reviews. (Get over yourself Ann[e]!) Upon arriving, looked to be a line outside and after asking other patrons confirmed they were full. We waited patiently as the customers ahead of us couldn’t seem to listen and continued to stand and sit on the steps clearly blocking the only exit for exiting customers. The party ahead of us found it to be advantageous to claim they were only a party of 7 while there were 4 additional children with them. There are about 8 various sized tables in this place. Not very large. Not a smart idea to understate the number of people in your party while overcrowding the joint. It’s not IHOP! Anywho the two ladies running the place were quick and efficient while trying to keep everyone happy. Well at least the customers worth keeping happy. To the food, we order led the eggs Benedict with a side of bacon, a cinnamon French toast with a side of smoked sausage and my son had some scrambled eggs with bacon and toast. Everything came out perfectly cooked and was delicious. Everyone had some variety of fresh fruit which is brought in by a local produce vendor. If you are in town and want a fantastic breakfast or brunch with a amazing view of the water then I challenge you to first find a parking spot but then visit Mary’s Harbor View Cafe. And please be nice and be patient. They work extremely hard and deserve your best behavior.

We dined on the roof last night around 8pm Tuesday 7/2/24. The views are great, and watching the sunset was awesome. Our waitress at first was very attentive and our food was delivered fairly promptly. All of which was delicious! We shared the wings, oysters, and the flatbread. The wings being by far the best of the three. Everything was going great until we wanted our check. I understand they were getting busy, but we asked for our check the last time the server came around, when we had already finished our meal. 30 mins later she had never came back to our area. I finally walked down to the bar to see if we could pay as we were quite ready to leave and I was told they couldn't help me and I have to just wait until my server showed back up. Almost 20 mins later she finally comes back up and is first grabbed by the table next to us which has billing issues, then I was able to get her attention. Finally getting our bill payed for almost an hour after asking for it kind of ruined what was first a quite excellent experience. So if you stayed with me long enough through this diatribe, moral of the story is if you decide to eat on the patio or roof, order your food and immediately close your tab. That way you are free to carry on with your day/night.

Was really looking forward to breakfast at this locally owned cafe. Was very disappointed. Drinks are served in styrofoam cups (expect coffee). I had the belgian waffle platter which looked and tasted as if it was a frozen waffle heated and doctored up with powdered sugar. My son had the cinnamon french toast. Less than fair tasting although it looks delicious. My normally very easy to please son, refused to eat the nearly $14 dish (for two pieces of bread and a few cut up strawberries). The breakfast potatoes (nearly $5 for the appetizer sized plate) were the only thing I really enjoyed. They were flavorful and cooked just right (not burnt or too soft). Lastly, this service leaves a bit to be desired. Our dirty plates were cleared away, the key to noting that the diners are finished. Yet, after waiting about 15 minutes I had to ask for the check so we could get on with our day. Also, I was never asked if I wanted more coffee. Nearly $50 for two people to eat a subpar breakfast is steep to say the least. I guess we paid for the view.

First time and last time there. Walked in and thought it was quaint. Didn't get much of a greeting. Figured we just sit where we liked, so we did. Finally a server brought us menus. Took our orders. A family of four came in at that time and sat at a table next to us. The server took their order, 5 minutes later, their food started to come out. Then the server realized she was handing our food to the wrong table. My dish was already eaten but the other plates were handed to the rest of my party. No apologies from the server to us. But, she was so apologetic to the other table for getting the food mixed up. She put a rush for their food and the rest of the party at that table received their food. I am still waiting patiently for mine. Finally, a server brings out my plate and drops it off and runs back to the kitchen. Still no apologies. I brush it off and enjoy the meal, which was actually not bad. The server comes out and again apologies to the other table for getting the orders mixed up and refills their drinks. She does not even look our way. We're right next to that table. We finish our meals, drinks empty, and the server finally comes to our table...with the check. Finally a chance to ask for refills. Cash was placed on the table and it was swiped away in an instant. We thought of not leaving a tip, but we're not that kind of people, so we left a decent tip for terrible service. But, before we got up the server returned to the other table and once again apologized and stated she gave them a 20% discount for their inconvenience. What?! I was all set to leave and never to return, but that did it. I politely asked the gentleman about what I over heard and he apologetically stated yes. So, I did have to express my utter disappointment to the server before I left. She finally apologized and offered me the same discount, but I've already paid. I told her that's not what I was looking for. I wanted a nice meal with my mom and her friends on a day we were remembering my father, and maybe just an apology for serving my meal to someone else and never checking on us after we received our dishes. What an...

My boyfriend and I went to this place for lunch yesterday, not because it was popular or anything, just because it was convenient, since we just ended our tour in Castillo lol. To describe this place, i can't even use the word "below average" because it purely SUCKS lol. The old woman with silver short hair was our server. When my boyfriend asked about wifi, she answered with a smirk that there was probably wifi lol. We thought she was kind of dumb or sth since his question was absolute so we let it pass. When she gave us the menu, she showed the worst attitude, as in constantly pushing us to order and showing displease when my boyfriend said he needed more time. I was more than ready to give her a tounge lashing at this point but my boyfriend, as nice as he is, said she was not worth it so we let it pass the 2nd time. When my boyfriend finished his meal, she rushed to our table to collect his dish, and even shamelessly asked him "clean your mess". I didn't hear exactly what she told him at that time. I thought she said "help me clean the mess" lol. If I had heard what you told him, I'm telling you ugly old woman, my tuna sandwiches would not have been in my stomach, but would have landed on your filthy face lol. This is RACISM alright ppl. Read about this restaurant before you even think of going to this place. I hate to say this but a lot of non white ppl have experienced differential treatment in this place. Lol and to you again stupid woman, snap out of it since this is the age of globalization lol. You're lucky that my bf is a super nice guy, he even felt bad for someone like you who is stuck in a small town and never got to see how much the world has changed lol. I will post this comment on other websites and report this to authorities in St. Augustine and...

As a business owner, I work really hard to provide superior customer service, I train my staff to go above and beyond to achieve a positive customer experience, when I don’t see that effort in a business I just assume that they do not need my business. I did not get to eat here, very bad customer service. I looked this place up after seeing the recommended restaurants for breakfast in our AirBnB and was unable to find a menu online. I called to inquire and apparently that’s something that the staff members do not get happy about. First answer was: “We are a breakfast place, so we have everything breakfast”, followed by a “ I am too busy cooking. I can’t go over the menu” so the phone was handed to another staff member that just stated the same thing: “we have everything is that there is for breakfast” to what I answered that I will call back to place the order. When I call back after few minutes, stated that I want to place an order for pick up, proceeded to start the order, lady on the phone (which seems to be the same lady cooking) after me asking basic things about the side, just says “I can’t handle this women” as she puts the phone away. At that point I hung up. I would that the resin with this attitude was the owner herself, as an employee probably won’t feel as entitled to just give people attitude. Recommendations: if you are not a customer service person, hire someone to be. if you are busy cooking, hire someone to answer calls. at peak seasons, staff your business...
